Weirdly enough, when you get your Durametric, check the MAF sensor.

Suggestion

I have seen boost leaks as well as blown wastegate diaphragms cause the symptoms you are having, It maxes out the MAF sensor but the flow doesn't make it to the engine and set off ABS/PSM warnings.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After making a nice trip down to the local beach with my son, we hop back in the car and take off home. Decent throttle in 1st through to 2nd, and all of a sudden - PSM failure, followed by ABS failure lights come on. Not sure what happened as I wasn't braking. I continue to drive home. About 5 km from my house, I notice the car is not spooling properly. Under partial throttle, there is hesitation, and the Turbos are appear to be struggling to generate boost consistently. I believe I heard a pop like a backfire or two on the drive, but nothing too loud, or consistent. About 1 km from home, the CEL pops on and boost becomes more erratic, with the car lurching a bit as throttle is applied, like the Turbos can't quite figure out what to do. I didn't get the chance to push it, nor do I want to, but it did not appear to be spooling to 0.8 bar, was cutting out at 0.3-0.5 bar. Car made it home okay, and appeared to idle fine in the garage. No leaks, and the Warning lights do come on again shortly after I turned it off an then on. After putting my little guy down, I called @sdematt as he is local-ish, answers my texts and has Turbo. Suspected boost leak based on the info above, but ABS/PSM failure is a weird one. Advised me to purchase a Durametric to see what the codes are saying and post here to consult the experts. Car is an 02' non-X50 with ~36,500KM. It sat, I'm told, for a while before I purchased it last year, but had engine out maintenance done before purchase including new Clutch/RMS/Pinned Coolant lines. I've driven it probably 10 times since buying it, and am I'm hoping this is only a blown hose or faulty sensor. Durametric has been ordered, and now I wait.... *edit - Sorry, this should have gone to the 996 Turbo Forum. Any help or thoughts are appreciated!

POST 2Original post

Weirdly enough, when you get your Durametric, check the MAF sensor. It could be the culprit.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I realize this was ages ago, but after taking the car to the shop, it was simply a loose hose that threw a MAF code, which was causing a rough idle. All sorted after a couple of hours of shop labour.
