Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone able to say what the gains are - performance wise or aurally of adding Supercup air filter to 2002 C4?

POST 4Original post

Won't retro to a M96 type motor... the Mass air sensor is a problem. As for the hot air theory... why would Porsche do it if there was a loss or no gain?

POST 5Original post

Actually, the newer Cup cars are running an metal baffle under the air filter to shield it from the engine heat. The Super Cup teams did some testing and on straights and fast corners there was enough cold air coming in from the rear wing slots that it didn't matter but in slow speed corners the heat was causing a small loss in engine power. So most of the teams have retrofitted a heat shield around the bottom side of the filter. I've also read in the articles on the new street version of the GT3 RS that Porsche has added some type of new air system to the rear wing to draw more cold air into the intake. I haven't seen it or read any details of how it works but apparently Porsche has discovered that there are times when the engine heat does affect the engine output. Karl Karl

cool, it would be interesting to see that. Another thought would be about how the new gt3 airbox is, if it is basically a turbo one like the gt2 or what. If that is the case then that might be something better than all?

Thanks guys. Seems that the jury is out. Given that and as I am told that this will invalidate my warranty will give it the body swerve.
