Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

When the Porsche tech installed my X73, he stated that the new motor mounts were stiffer and allowed the drivetrain to maintain proper alignment.
Leading evidence: 'Install x73, he stated' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'problems inside the transmission' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install x73, he stated' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Seems to me any crunching is due to problems inside the transmission that have nothing do due with the mounting of the drivetrain.
Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

I am guessing they recommend the mounts to solve this issue and give the car a more solid/connected feel.

Why do some of the stiffer / lowered suspension either come with or recommend the use of special motor mounts?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

From my experience I have found that under cornering shifting is a bit difficult (not that it will not shift but it feels like it does not want to shift). Also I have had a slight crunch noise when going into gear while cornering hard on the track. I am guessing they recommend the mounts to solve this issue and give the car a more solid/connected feel. I would love to hear some input on what kind of specific mounts people recommend.
never heard such thing.
i am on moton coil overs and the car is as low as you can imagine, almost like cup cars, i have stock motor mount and it's just fine after 4k track miles in 8 months.
lowering the car should have no effect on shfting on a 9x6/9x7 older cars 993/964/930 maybe
probaly recomend difrent mounts to rasie the engine to keep drive line angle proper but iahve never instaleld or seen this, i couldnt imagien it would make a noticeabl diffrence
See the comments in posts #9 and #10 in this thread. Apparently new motor mounts are included with the X73 suspension package, but not with the X74.

most ppl who have shifting prob simply try to shift too fast or too abrupt. i know a few guys who can drive at semi pro level and do well in WC, when they drove my car (i told i can't sh ift under hard cornering), they are pulling much more g's and lapping much faster than i ever could and they had zero prob shifting. i am still trying to learn that. you have to wait a nanosecond in neutral. watch the pro's on tv, they may shift fast, but very deliberate and always wait (however short it may be) in neutral before hitting next gear.
When the Porsche tech installed my X73, he stated that the new motor mounts were stiffer and allowed the drivetrain to maintain proper alignment. The fact that they are stiffer I can attest to. I can feel the engine vibrations just that much more. The fact that they maintain alignment I can attest to as well. The body dropped dropped about 30 mm, but the engine appears to have risen within the dropped engine bay, which seems to indicate the the drivetrain alignment is maintained despite the body drop. Porsche will also warranty the X73 only if the whole kit, the new mounts included, is installed. I have no idea if it has anything to do with shiftng, since I have no problems with shifting.
Seemed like reasonable indications to me that new mounts are necessary when you drop the car. The only fly in the ointment to the argument, however, is that the X74 does not come with new mounts. Neither do any of the aftermarket suspensions. And I've not heard of any problems without new engine mounts.
Seems to me any crunching is due to problems inside the transmission that have nothing do due with the mounting of the drivetrain.
And since the shifter is Boudon tube cable operated, the tiny movement possible in the mountings wouldn't very noticable in the shifter. (unlike older 911s where movement of the drivetrain would very noticably by felt in the shifter.)
