Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It looked like if she was not so focused on the clif comming at her, she might have changed her line and made it around?

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Took 129 out of Knoxville into Robbinsville, NC. The ride was a ball. Since I did it on a Monday the traffic wasn't too bad. Saw a few nice sport bikes and only two other Porsches. I did get passed by a very trick looking Mini with NC plates. Whoever he was ne knew the road and his car.
If you take this trip you should consider staying at the Blue Waters Lodge. I'm spending two nights here before heading back to Cincy. The manager goes out of his way to make sure you are happy with your stay.
Attached are a couple of photos of one section of road, mild, and a shot of the lodge with a view out the front.
This is one of the few turns where you can get a shot off. Some of the switch backs are fantastic.
Second gear was plenty for extended sections.
If you stay here be sure to bring your own refreshments, it's a dry county.
Great way to wind down at night, sit on the dock and watch the sun go down.
Alan,
Great pics! That's something I've always wanted to do - I'm vaguely in the right neighborhood, so I may have to go at it before too long. I'm curious - is it one lane in each direction the whole way? I'd be frightened to death of rounding a corner to find someone in my lane... But maybe that's just part of living on the edge

It's just 2 lanes, one each way. I did pass a motorhome that got stuck in a turn. Wasn't a problem getting around but I wouldn't have wanted to do it on a heavy traffic weekend. Almost to a person everyone stayed off the yellow line. There are very few marked passing zones.

for information on road conditions and police presence. This is a great drive - an 11 mile autocross in a public road. There are many other great roads in the area.

I did not see one patrol on either the Dragon or the Cherahola Skyway. However, I did them on a Mon. and Wed. Weekends may vary.
As soon as I get some shots up on Webshots I'll post a link. In the meantime here is a link to an unfortunate biker on Saturday:
Down and Out on the Dargon
License plate reads "Her R5". It looked like if she was not so focused on the clif comming at her, she might have changed her line and made it around? Something tells me she hit the panic button and grabbed the front brake? Look at her front wheel prior to laydown.
Steve
It looked like a mid course correction to me as she was getting close to the yellow line. Since trucks and people not paying attention tend to drift over the yellow I can see the rider's issue with being close to the yellow. After the bike lost grip I can see that the right side of the bar is forward. However, I'm sure if that was the cause or the effect. At any rate the person riding it wasn't afraid to push the envelope they just ran out of skill about 20 feet back.
bike accidents happen several times a weekend during the summer. this is nothing new. when i go through the dragon i enjoy it but i dont' treat it like an autox. there are safer places to push the car then on the dragon. .....about the most fun you could ever have in second gear though!
