With a 4 corner scale and tire width and compound changes, I dont see why this car cannot dead hook with a clutch drop.

As for breaking crap, I'm not so personally inclined to put another $10K into replacing a tranny and clutch on my daily drivers just to find that extra 0.1 sec of acceleration from a stop sign.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. I am curious as to how the car launches whenever you launch at redline with the 6 speed. You know, let go of the clutch with your foot to the floor. Do the tires grab and go? Do you get goofy alternating traction and wheel spin?
Thanks
Lol, who cares about a clutch, its a wear item, if it wears replace it, if it breaks replace it!
In my 500 hp Audi Quattro the front tires still spin pretty good and I get a little torque steer, but its primarily fron engine front wheel drive.
I would like to know how the Porsche reacts...
I dumped my clutch at 5000 once, just to see. The PSM kicked in immediately.
Tried it again with the PSM off and the rears spun for a few feet and then bit.
I think I get better launches just letting out the clutch and mashing the gas.
SSST, what rubber you running on the car?
Why not do it? What is the point of all wheel deive and power if you dont use it? That would be like never turning sharp either...
The AWD system is better tested in the snow or slick road conditions.
remember, there's a highly developed brain in these AWD systems, muscle cars are purely mechanical beasts, so you can abuse the clutch and tires to you're liking and replace as needed. If you start doing this on a Pcar, you're looking at more than just clutch and tire wear; you might start some **** you'll be paying 10 times more than just a clutch replacement.
IMO, with such wide rear tires and torque transfer onto the back mostly, it would be difficult to get "hot rod" wheel spin, which isn't what a Pcar does best, even 2 wheel drives. I would imagine, AWD senses wheel spin in back, then front wheels attempt to grab. you're just trying to trick the system doing a launch like that.
With my Hankooks about 60% tread at the rears, I have throttle steered from a curve and can feel the rears breaking loose as I accelerate somewhat aggressively.; that's with my C2.
In the Turbo I can do the same thing, but they are newer tires, the added HP can break loose the rears even easier on accelerating from a curve. Im not sure if I feel the front diff working to gain traction.
In both situations, once the rears get a grip...the car just moves into "haulin ***" mode.
Im pretty sure during the p car design, that winter and slick conditions where not really the focus.
With a 4 corner scale and tire width and compound changes, I dont see why this car cannot dead hook with a clutch drop. Has anyone played around with this much.
Then what was it built for? Sitting under a car cover?? Surely not...Lol
I hear far more talk about 0-60 which would emphasize hard launching, then I hear people talking about lateral g numbers...
I would have though people would have spent more time getting the suspension and tires dialed in to get a dead hook and improve 0-60 times, you know...
I guess what I am asking is for people to post what they have done in getting the car to launch at or closer to WOT. Diff swaps, spring preload changes, tire and compound changed, etc... and then how it hooked...
I've only been on RL a short time, but what I see across most threads here are track times, track upgrades.
Have you been to 6Speedonline.com? I know they have a l-o-o-n-n-g thread there on 0-100-0 times, 60-130 times . That might be more what you're
looking for.
I'm not sure if even the factory "drops the clutch" from redline to achieve published 0 to 60 times.
(which are pretty quick times compared to most cars even ones with way more published torque and HP numbers.
Pete
Put as much power to the wheels that you want and its still going to hook up. It's like the Cerv2 GM made in the turns. Last thing you want to do in a turn if it starts to break loose is let off the gas. Big difference with the 911 is all the bugs are worked out and the transmission is way better. There is even a launch control these days that lets you sit there with your foot to the floorboard and the computer controls throttle, and trans for the fastest take off. The porsche PDK trans is way faster than anything out there.
Here's hooking up without reading.

OP, these cars are quick in a straight line but launching into a drag race is not really what they are designed to do. Motor's weight over the rear wheels coupled with up to 40% of the torque getting transferred to front wheels should the rears break loose allows for quick acceleration with minimal wheel spin. I've never dumped my clutch at 6000 rpm simply because these cars can be really expensive to repair and doing so would be abusive in my opinion. However, if you want to learn what a carrera 2 or 4 is really capable of then I suggest signing up for a track event. You will be amazed how much grip and balance these cars have. But be warned.... Tracking will lead to mods and suddenly all your free time on the weekend will be spent wrenching/driving/laughing/and lying about lap times...
That's good info.! Thanks!!
I hate when people say a $100 supercar isnt meant to do something. Or isn't meant for drag racing when it's super light, powerful, and all wheel drive. And when all Porsche adds I've seen don't advertise g force or slalom... The advertise 0-60 times which is the number one key to a good drag race. And I love all racing whether it's at the strip or road course.
I ask this question because if Porsche(or anyone else) attains a 0-60 in let's say 3.8 launching an awd car at 4000 rpm(for conversation sake), then it will be quicker at 5000 or 7000 rpm IF the car hooks. So a proper setup of tired, and suspension adjustment will improve the cars launch until it can simply be put to the floor and let your foot off the clutch.
McLeod also makes a launch control specifically designed to help with this. I almost installed one on my 1000hp pro touring Chevelle.
Holding the engine at redline and dumping the clutch is not the best way to launch an AWD car (you should already know this since you have a 500hp Audi Quattro - why are you trolling here?) . You will have to experiment to find the best way to achieve the quickest 60' times at a drag strip. I've drag raced AWD DSMs and the best launches were always with the RPMs at about 4500 and quickly slipping the clutch out while flooring the gas.
Dumping the clutch as you suggest could cause axles or the transmission to break and as I mentioned is not the fastest way to get off the line.
Honestly, drag racing bores me so I've spent very little time thinking about how the car launches. That being said, if I was interested in launches, drag racing and 0-60 times there are probably some much better choices than an AWD Porsche 911.
I didn't buy my car to drag race. Opening it up on a twisting road in the hill country is where it really shines. That's why I upgraded the suspension. Brakes are next.
I just wanted to see if it smoked the tires or bit. It basically bit, but did generate a little smoke at the rears. It was by no means a tire melting burnout. Tires were 295 PS2's
That's a TT. I suspect a C4 will just bite.
In pac996's vid, wonder why the guys not using No lift shift on his car. He would me much faster, that's really slowing him down letting off every shift. You lose all the boost, really kills mph.
I have to look at the front diff on c4 compared to the TT.
I used to have a Subaru WRX STi. That car was quickest by sidestepping the clutch at full rpm/full throttle (I only did it once - yes, was quick). Apparently the standard WRX was good for about 10 such launches before something broke whereas the STi could do it all day.
I haven't tried it with my TT. Apart from anything else when it's not raining I think it would destroy my winter tires and when it is, I don't need to dump the clutch to get wheelspin. Plus it would destroy my licence here in the city!
Cheers Ben
Isn't the class he is racing in prevented from using that mod?
Go to a dealer and test drive one. Try looking at the sport package ones that have the launch control where you push the botton, hold the brake and hold the throttle down and the computer sets up the proper rpms. The PDK is faster than gear shifting so maybe try the 997 forum.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYvoXgpVNuU
Therein lies the problem for me. It's just my opinion, but I don't equate 0-60 launches with sophisticated street cars. Maybe someone else has some suggestions for you.
Just buy a turbo and forget about planning ahead for launching. 3 second 60 ft times minimum and last known stock they do 40-60mph in 1 second just flooring it. Best thing about the 911 is that shut it down when a turn approaches coming up fast is over. Just fly the turn instead of drive an old truck suspension corvette or top heavy muscle car. Like you eluded to suspension set ups blah blah doing tubs or extra piping the rear its no need for the 911 going with stock set ups. Yah sure it may suck when a 411 or 456 rear or whatevers cant take a 911 that will fly past the 100mph mark when the 411 is topping out the engine rpms its just engineering. It's why the 911 costs while you can work for months and experiment trying to get an american car to catch up. Just can't happen though for most cars no matter how they are improved.
Here's a slower than the last video of the drag winning 911 with 10 second 1/4's. This one only does 11's.
Traction traction traction you can try to get just throwing tires, engine, battery in trunk and special shocks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Qam_UvSKuM
Are you talking about power shifting or the "feature" on some GM cars that allows for WOT shifting without letting off of the accelerator?
If the latter, I've never heard anything about 996es having this "feature" built into its ECU.
If the former, then you're probably talking to the wrong folks. Power shifting is just going to rapidly decrease the lifetime of the transmission and clutch on these (or any) cars and most of the people on these boards aren't looking for that last 0.1 sec. in acceleration times on the street. If that doesn't bother you then go for it. If you're that concerned about acceleration then you're probably better off with a sequential manual anyway.
Besides, as far as "hooking up" goes, while I haven't dumped my C4S' clutch at redline, I've found that most AWD cars that I've owned and/or driven tend to bog on a hard take-off. It's easier to take off faster in a RWD car and, unless I am mistaken, the AWD systems in these cars arent full time. IMHO, theTT doesn't have AWD for take-off; it's there to assist in the corners to keep the car's *** going where the driver intended it to go.

Well in reviewing your question I guess its more correct to not figure in the part about red lining the engine and just say you don't have to redline the engine at launch to beat the rest of the rear wheel drive cars off the line. The car can do 7.5k rpms so maybe just figure it like a car with a circle track cam in it already. Best thing is it already has the engine and lifters to handle the cam profile. Not much else to add.
Its very tongue in cheek as usual for Clarkson, but not a bad entry by the C4 non the less.. Its launch off the line is a bit less dramatic however..
You Tube
Well first off you close minded people that only park your baby in a garage and brag about it... Please do not post in my thread!!
I drive my cars! Like they are meant to be! Those who say " oh no, but what if it breaks!", it's a machine, I'll repair and improve what broke! Thanks
The no lift shift can be added to any car an specifically the Porsche ECU as a program add with external ground switch. How it works is that when you depress the clutch peddle above a certain rpm, the rev limiter will activate at a preprogrammed rpm, let's say 5500 for conversation sake. This allows you to keep your foot to the floor and slide the car into the next gear without any load or risk of hurting the car. I'm sure you've seen one in action if youve ever watched import drag racing. The car will go "pop pop pop pop" between shifts. Same with formula one cars. Your hearing a preset rev limiter. When the clutch is released, the rev limiter is de activated. So the faster you shift, the less time this takes and you don't lose boost.
One of the best feature of a p car is the rear engine, can't do better then that for launching. Hence why Porsche has very good 0-60 times and exactly why Porsche mentioned these times in many sales campaigns. Not track times, but 0-60.
I like the road course, I also like drag racing... So don't bash, highly immature... Grow up some of you...
I don't want to be a D-Bag, but telling all of these people here they just "park there cars in the garage and brag about it" is BS. Most of the people on the forums take their cars to track days and when it comes to Porsche's that is driving one how it is meant to be driven!
I have nothing against drag racing I come from a long line of Mustangs but when a 911 is designed I am pretty sure the engineers do not have drag racing in mind. So if you would like a C4 for drag racing by all means it is your money! But I do not believe the drivetrain is designed to handle continuous hard launching that drag racing demands without some work being done... just my $.02
Ok I agree with your point that you like motorsports - incl drag racing.
But I don't agree with your assertion that we park ours in the garage....I do 5 to 6 track events a year - they're just not drag races. I have gotten good enough in my stock C4 that I can lap 2 seconds better than guys in cars with an 80hp advantage. If you've done DE events they are on a road course, 4 to 5 hours a day, over a couple of days - so even though I made fun of your drag racing rant - it doesn't make me a garage queen driver. I just have no interest in drag racing as a sport - but I recognize plenty of other people do.
Im spefically refering to the people posting negative or non conducive comments. Thats way uncalled for and just because those specific people arenet willing to experiment with there cars, I am, so dont post negative please. The guys who keep saying the Porsche is not meant to do this or that... Hell, if you wanna go that route, its not designed to be a road race car either. Its a street car. We do with it and make our vehicles whatever we want them to be for out purpose...
I am shopping for a P car at the moment... I have owned many vehicles in my life, 100+ ranging from daily drivers, big trucks, 1000hp sports cars, etc... I also love racing in all forms and own a shop doing auto repair on all makes and models and specialize in building custom turbo setups, transmission repair and rebuild, and performance engine building. I guess that makes me more inclined to not be afraid to drive a car to its limit more often as far as repairs go...
I just want this thread to be constructive and not filled with "who cares" and things like that... Thats just rude...
It would be intersting to see a C4 launch with a set of warmed up road slicks. I am sure the 0-60 would be much faster then what Porsche advertises especially with the no lift shift addon.
I can't see why a 0-60 in the 3.0 range may not be attainable.
Anyone with track tires try this and test 0-60?
1: I don't think you need to be a Porsche owner to post here. Sorry if that was implied. I didn't have a pcar when I joined.
2: your questions are legitimate questions that you want satisfied. I think I was one of the first of many people to reply to your thread about the C4 drivetrain and transmission - so it's not like we're all about bashing you...
3: I don't understand what you mean by this not be a road race car - most of us track the car in stock form.
4: some of us admittedly had some fun at your expense by joking about your obsession with drag racing a 996 - but frankly - GROW SOME SKIN. Don't be so easily offended. Don't be this:
I think what you need to do is buy your car, experiment with it, find its strengths and weaknesses, then assess where you go from there.
After you have some ownership experience and seat time under your belt, come back and read these posts. Oh, and keep us posted about you're 7000+ RPM repeated launches dumping the clutch. I'd like to know your 0-60 times, how they keep improving, what breaks, how you make it stronger, what breaks next....
I'm sure you'll have a good time.
sorry, this is asinine.
Trying to drag racing an AWD Porsche is like trying to play hockey with a piece of crown molding.
You say things like "when it breaks, I'll fix it."
yeah, when you're out $2k for a new front diff, $3k for a transmission, and another $1500 for a diff, just for the stock stuff cause no one builds parts for drag racing, you will probably rethink your desire to do redline clutch drops.
Stick with a mustang...trust me.
I'm not sure who you're directing your comments to but I wasn't bashing you.
And, for what it's worth, I enjoy a spirited drive in all of my cars (okay, not so much the minivan) and none of my cars are "garage queens." I've autocrossed my Volvo and would love to find the time to get my Porsche out there a bit, too.
As for breaking crap, I'm not so personally inclined to put another $10K into replacing a tranny and clutch on my daily drivers just to find that extra 0.1 sec of acceleration from a stop sign. It's easy enough to push these cars hard without beating on them. If any of them were dedicated track cars then I'd have a different view...but I'd also probably start with a GT3 or other RWD variant.
As for why Porsche uses 0-60 times, don't kid yourself. In enthusiast circles they DO brag about Nurburgring times. But, 0-60 is a comparison standard that's been adopted by anyone and everyone and is as old as dirt. How long it takes a Carrera to get around Laguna Seca or any track may say more about performance but it's meaningless to most of the buying public whereas 0-60 translates to something. You can disagree on this point...but you'd be wrong.
-Eric
I'm not disagreeing... But I do think a Porsche would make an excellent drag car and still fly around a track. I feel if more people drag raced them them the stronger drivetrain parts suppliers would see a good market and develop them. You cannot best a rear engine street car for launching. The weight transfer potential is crazy.
What gear do you hit 60 mph in? 2nd? I bet the no lift shift would cut tine off the 60 time. And then without changing tires some suspension changes.
Does one rear tire start to spin before the other? Balancing that put will be the first step...
I think this guy is asking legitmate questions; tehy may not be questions Rennlisters are used to answering but they seem to be legit nonetheless. Telling him "don't waste your time" implies his inquiries have been tested at some point, or why else tell him that, speculation?
There are plenty of people out there with more time and money than they know what to do with and do all kinds of things to "see what can be done". Whos to say how Nitro spends his time and money.
I see guys do all kinds of, what I consider, pointless crap to their cars like lowering it for "looks" or putting aero kits on for "looks", talk about a waste of money, or is it? It's up to the person and what they want out of their time and money.
I'm with him; if you can't contribute to the discussion with data, real data, then don't unless you want to perpetuate the pretentious Porsche owner stigma.
(and yes, I own one. I've owned a number over the years)
The car is already fast enough off the line. The main big difference in the 911 and the drag configuration cars is if you would try turning fast when taking off quickly the other cars are going to loose control. The 911 is going to steer correctly unless you are purposely trying to break the rear end loose to smoke the tires.
Just go down to the dealership and buy a turbo so that you can race friends with it. You aren't going to mind not having smoking tires and just G forces in all directions. One of the good things on the car is stopping power. The brakes are progressional keeping you from going out of control when braking hard at higher speeds. Going 60 the car stops in 100 feet in the 996 version and probably faster with the newer cars.
One thing you should figure out is the C4 is heavier and not as fast as the C2 variety. So if you want faster in the 4 wheel just get the turbo. The newer cars are faster with the PDK transmission so just get a turbo S model with PDK. What you also get with the 911 is a car that off roads also.
The website link is stock times unless you care to add nitrous or turbo mods.
I figure you should either get a GT2RS or work a car to be like the video. As you know upping the power is nothing to play around with at speed. The best thing about the porsche is it isn't on ballon tires to get its speed or times and will still handle like a race car going 200mph. It's no joke pushing 1000hp+ applying the throttle if you want to stay on the road but the porsche I figure can pretty much handle the power better than mostly everyting else out there. Street legal if you want it. I don't suggest welding in a bracket with bearings to make it like a straight rear end in such a case you'ld probably be back to riding a car that handles like the usual lead sled dragster. There are some guys that probably have build websites for what they did to get the 1000+ hp. To each their own. A GT2 is probably what would cool you're tools on working the car into a dragster. No turning back after driving one probably.

Nice vid, I built a 200 mph 71 Chevelle for the 1 mile maxton mile run a few years back. Was supposed to be the first pumpgas Chevelle to hit 200 in the standing mile. I got divorced and lost my car, divorces a very nasty.
The car is now is California and sits is not used for what it was built. Dirty shame the new owner doesn't want to race a race car. Lol
I build turbo systems for anything, so I'd rather turbo my own vehicle the waste the cash on a tt, but the tt drivetrain is stronger do idk. Maybe I should pick up a $30k 996 tt and just sell the motor. Lol
Are you guys always such **** heads?? Do you know the meaning of poser?? Stop posting dumb ****..
That's Chevelle is more serious then 98% of the cars on this forum for what it is. If you have no constructive input then keep your opinions to yourself. Seriously guys, I don't deal with this kind of immaturity with my children let alone a group of supposedly grown men.

Other than your avatar, and some questionable posts in another forum 6 years ago. Can you offer up some actual facts about who are and what you claim to be? Your questions have been answered in general about your OP, yet you keep Dudeing and Loling about this and that. In case you haven't figured it out yet, most of us here are involved in road course racing and DE, not drag racing.
If you want to build something, buy a 996 turbo chassis with a blown engine, do a LSX conversion, turbo that and make it 1k HP and go drive it 200MPH. At least then you will have something that will go, stop, turn, and be slippery enough to hit the magic number. When you are ready, come and see us at Road America with the proper training, saftey equipment, and technical inspection and we'll welcome you to the club.
I'm done now.
From the initial post my gut told me this was just a matter of time. The 2nd post I read was the one before my post. I feel bad for nitro-bag because he is from MKE. Have a soft spot for cheeseheads. BTW.....RA is a great place to DE!
Guys, I am not claiming to be anything, but I seem to have to keep defending myself.
My background, and some possibly pointless rambling;
My name is Scott…
I am a very selfless guy, I go out of my way to contribute and help others. I was a welding engineer and manager for 10 years and quit my career to pursue and become a registered nurse for the love of helping people and saving lives...
My recently deceased father owned Engine & Transmission Exchange during my entire life. I spent my summers off of grade shcool as a mechanic starting at the age of 7. By 12 I was rebuilding engines and doing full automotive service on any make or model vehicle that rolled in the shop provided my little 12 year old muscles could handle it.
Cars are in my blood and I have owned roughly 100 vehicle in my 34 year old life, I own a mobile auto repair buisness on top of my career because I love it so much. I just have to keep my hand very clean with rubber gloves, patients at the hospital would probably not appreciate greasy fingers!! Lol
The 5 year old post you dug up on LateralG was a car I built that got a 7 page feature in PHR magazine. That was a 1000hp twin turbo 6 speed chevelle with monster brakes all around, dropped to the ground, and geared to be in Hot rod magazines “Top Speed Challenge at the Maxton mile. It was supposed to be the worlds first 93 octane pumpgas Chevelle to hit 200 mph in the standing mile. And as to why it never happened, after the magazine feature, I transformed the chassis into a 200mph capable machine. At the same time I found my wife of 10 years sleeping with another man and went through a nasty divorce and lost everything including my cars, assets, half my retirement saving, my self esteem, hope, and self worth… 4 years later now, I have all that back and am starting to really get my hands into another serious project.
I build and design custom fuel injection setups for anything needing one for people and myself. I tune many makes and model vehicles using different software, I build Dodge Viper 6 speed manual transmissions and adapt them to Chevy LS motors for race/track applications. I rebuild automatic transmission of any make or model cars, specifically BMW and their wretchedly unreliable transmissions. Being a previous welding engineer, I design and fabricate headers, turbo systems etc for whatever needs a turbo. I build custom tubular control arms, roll cages, wire race cars from scratch, build race engines, have had a patent for a wheelie control module I designed for high powered drag boats, motorcycles and cars, and the list goes on and on and on…
So basically, I am a perfectionist person of many skills. I love to help people and I love motorsports.
I also push these outside normal limits and think outside the box as much as possible, that’s why I know what I do today. I do not brag much and that’s why you guys must think Im just some noob moron talking out his *** on here with outlandish questions. My questions always serve a purpose for some plan or idea I have. I see nothing wrong with asking if someone else has tried it before…
So hopefully this clears some things up, but I am sure this will just fuel some of you to tear me a new one and try to discredit all ive accomplished in my life…
But if this hasn’t, and you are in the Milwaukee area, I would love to have a beer, talk shop, and even help anyone on here with custom welding fabrication, engine tuning, engine or trans rebuilds, auto repair or whatever you may need. I have the equipment equal to that most any shop, but my largest asset is my love for motorsports, a crazy amount of ambition, and having had the opportunity to repair thousands and thousands of different vehicles in my young life…
Have a great Sunday.
P.S. I bought a 996 today….
As I mentioned before, I think the guy has some legit questions. Flaming just adds to the already stereotypical pretentiousness of Porsche owners.
Welcome, Nitro.
Keep us posted on anything you find out about better launches for all wheel drive 996s.
You, sir, have taken the crown of king troll here. (if I'm wrong I'll gladly eat crow)
Instead of expecting everyone on this forum to just believe you just because, you could link some articles about your chevelle, writeups about these custom turbo jobs, fuel injection systems, rebuilt viper transmissions, race engines, race car wiring jobs, etc.
I mean, there MUST be pics and write ups on at least one or two of these jobs you've done right? Certainly anyone capable of all of these things would be well known and likely written about somewhere?
Here, I've made a list so that you could pick from whichever you like:
--The 5 year old post you dug up on LateralG was a car I built that got a 7 page feature in PHR magazine
--I build and design custom fuel injection setups for anything needing one for people and myself.
--I build Dodge Viper 6 speed manual transmissions and adapt them to Chevy LS motors for race/track applications
--I rebuild automatic transmission of any make or model cars, specifically BMW
--I design and fabricate headers, turbo systems etc for whatever needs a turbo.
--I build custom tubular control arms, roll cages,
--wire race cars from scratch,
--build race engines,
--have had a patent for a wheelie control module I designed
Again if you turn out to be for real I'll be the first to apologize but I can't believe anyone capable of everything you say wouldn't see how trollish this whole thread is.
Engine and Transmission Exchange

I grew up in the MKE area and remember this company.
I'm interested how this is going to play out.
I'm done here guys, thanks some of you.
I'm not gonna continue to be be bashed for no reason and don't want to associate with people who are going to charge anyone with guilty until proven innocent. Im not gonna have to give DNA samples and have you interview people I know just to quench someone's ego.
Am I asking anyone of you all this crap!?!? I have NOT ONCE questioned anyone's knowledge from their questions, or tried to belittle them.
I am Nitrorocket on at least 50 forums and have NEVER been through this crap, I've told you my story, I'm just a guy who's a car/bike lover, April 2007 phr magazine was my feature. I am not a big picture taker or bragger, so you not gonna see alot of work ive done, but like i said... If you ever want to go for a beer and shoot the **** it will become apparent everything i said is teue and more. Which I shouldn't have even had to say or go through anyway.
You know what im talking about, its easy to spot people who are full of ****, i am not one of them and and a strong promoter of "do unto others as you want done unto you", I don't lie cheat or steal..
For the "troll" guy, look me up on LS1tech if you "have" to see my knowledge and stuff I've bought sold. Or write ups I've done teaching people how to tune cars to 1000 hp levels using 93lb/hr fuel injectors on the stock ECM. Or the boost per gear micro switch setup I developed to change boost levels based on gear selection on a turbocharged 6 speed trans cars. See, do I have to brag to be credible?? This is rediculous?
I actually just looked myself up on google... There is 28 google pages of info on me if you are one of those people who have to try to dig up dirt on someone...
Good day
Wow, time flies! Yeah, I remember back then I was talking with Markski about some crazy stuff with his 996 TT, he even offered to throw me the key and take it for a ride back then, nice guy. He has that fast 996TT.
Alot changes in 5 years and I am sure there is much more info and experience out there now...
Nitrorocket - listen - here's the thing. Like you, most of the people on this board are pretty well educated guys (and some gals) who appreciate fast high performance cars.
We're generally all nice guys who do a lot to help one another in the community for the betterment of the Porsche community.
But I have to say it's really rare to see people getting into drag racing here on this forum. Some people in the 6speedonline forums are more into some of that stuff but they have a younger demographic and like to post stuff like "is my 996 faster than a BMW M3/Lexus IS/etc etc etc".
So most people have been unhelpful in your eyes as we don't have much to add to your drag racing interests - but that doesn't make us 'garage queen' weekend drivers who just detail our cars. MOST of us actually do work on our own cars (to varying degrees) and most of us do road races.
Anyway, you have a beautiful Chevelle - I don't think many of us doubted the veracity of your claim that you have hot rod magazine winner -
http://www.popularhotrodding.com/fea...e/viewall.html
But I guess where the support for you dwindled a bit when you decided just because we didn't share your drag racing interest we were all weenies... AND you had this huge list of accomplishments that somehow didn't add up - but then again that probably happened because you were really trying to validate yourself - which I have to say - you should never feel the need to. Who are we to judge you? (just like who are you to judge us).
You mentioned in an earlier post you just bought a 996. Maybe you did, maybe you didn't - maybe you said that just to gain more validation - again it's not necessary!
If you did, post pics of her - it's the best way to reintroduce yourself!
Thanks!!
I only started to get defensive regarding some of the negative posts that were trying to shoot me down or make me sound like a troll. People should jsut assume someone is legit and just answer their questions to the fullest ot not post at all if you dont know or are not trying to help.
Thanks.
Anyway... Anyone else really try to setup and launch a C4 porsche?? Tricks? Experiences?
I cant post on that forum... Ive been trying for years without any response to get my account acctivated.
About 5-6 years ago I was on there and made posts and such. A couple years later, maybe from no use, my account says awaiting email activation and I cannot get them to respond or resolve the issue.
So currently, this is the only forum for me.
You'll go far here as a new owner by posting a few pics of your new to you 996.
Go easy, start taking a few baby steps before trying to run. It will work out.
Tell us about your new car too, we love to hear your impressions.
