Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Hoping someone wanting to maintain a 996 on a budget will want these. PM me if interested. https://rennlist.com/forums/parts-ma...l#post11945601

Pardon the very late inquiry. Are these still available. I just took my 99 996 to Midas who determined that I need struts up front.

What's next? Earl Scheib for a paint job? I wouldn't let Midas touch my Porsche other than maybe check tire pressure

POST 5Original post

Why not? There is no magic in replacing a 996 strut, or the rest of the suspension either. If you can't do it yourself, any shop can do this part easily.

POST 7Original post

Friend took his car to get painted by Earl Scheib back in the day. They didn't even bother masking his bumpers or grill/trim. All came out monotone. Paint only was glossy for the first couple weeks then faded into a matte finish eventually. I wonder why they went out of business?

POST 8Original post

Maaco painted my Datsun back in 87. They literally stuck a piece of chewed gum in a hole in the roof and sprayed it. Good times!

POST 9Original post

A LOT of the body shops are only doing insurance and collision work because they can't compete with these cheap guys. I wonder if the work has gotten better or no one cares.

POST 10Original post

I got a Maaco paint job on a Mazda GLC back in the day. It was actually a good paint job. Did some minor polishing and sealing after it hardened good and it looked good until the car was totaled many years later.
