Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just this week I've noticed when I take my key out of the ignition that the steering wheel lock mechanism doesn't activate. I have to put the tip of the key back in and jiggle it around for the lock to engage. Can I lubricate the ignition? It seems that it's sticking to me. I'm trying to save a trip to the dealer. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

POST 2Original post

dont lube the ign that wont help and only will make a mess you need a new ign switch you can get the audi part (just the switch) online for under 20$ porsceh does not sell it anymore as it will fail again and sell a redesigned one on the whole ign lock for about 170$

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Brad: Is this what I need, and is this something I can easily install myself? Thanks,Fred http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-...QQcmdZViewItem

POST 4Original post

Ask the seller what it says for where it was made. If it says "Made in China" you do not want it. Folks that have bought the Made in China switches didn't even get 1 year out of them.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Loren: Can I install this myself with moderate skill level? Thanks, Fred
