Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. I think it is part 7 (washer) that is replaced with a thicker one.

In my pic above, I used the spacers that came with the new shocks and kept the old.

Suggestion
I think a washer/spacer on the bottom of the spring (that sits on the spring perch on the shock body) is your best bet - otherwise, youll run into problems with the rod reaching the top nut
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I installed h&r lowering springs on my 02 C4S. The back seems a 1/2 to low. I didnt realize it but its soft rubber in the areas not near the bolts. Looking at the mount, is there anyway for me to add a 1/2 to rise the car a bit that would be safe?
The washer would go on the strut and the mount would rest on the washer.
okay, I flipped over and can see how it works. How long should it take me to get one side out?
I think it is part 7 (washer) that is replaced with a thicker one. The washer goes down the shaft where it eventually rests where the shaft diameter gets larger. #3 the stop plate rests on this washer.
Anyone know the diameter of the hole in the washer and the washer? What should it be made of?

Are you saying a large washer that the springs rests on? Sandwiched between spring and strut? I would think the spring would not be supported by the carriage sides and it would slip. Excuse my ignorance. Been a while.
That other part mentioned that the top of the strut goes into, Not sure if I have a .4 or .5. If I am already at a .5, Im out of luck and if not, the difference doesnt seem like it would make up a 1/2 otherwise. Are my measurements off?
In my pic above, I used the spacers that came with the new shocks and kept the old. I did manage to find a local guy that had a pair and gave him $20 for 'em, just in case I wanted to go a bit higher. I'll see if I can dig them out.
When I bought my bilsteins, they came with these large washers that went down over the strut and sat on a lip. The spring just sat on that? Sounds like I just need to find more of those washers and put a couple on each side.
Thanks all for the help.
Your serious lack if understanding has me genuinely concerned for your ability you perform this mod. U make a washer from hdpe, cutting board material, and put it under the spring. It cant go anywhrre. The shock tube goes through the middle. Look at the pics.
Fear not, I have no intentions of installing it myself, Im just trying to understanding how the washer doesnt rub against the metal shock tube when in use. It just doesnt look like the theres anything keeping it in place. My local shops arent familiar with this and I want to make sure Im giving them them right product to install. Thanks for your patience 🍻
One reason to cut them from hdpe. U could always tack weld them on the flang if u use metal.
when u put the spacer in, the spring with the weight of the car on the suspension it will not move.
honestly if the mechanic doesnt understand the basic construction of a strut and what u want to do without an explaination then go to the next mechanic. But hopefully now u r a little more informed.
That's the answer I was looking for; the weight of the car keeps it in place.
Yea there's definitely not an abundance of specialty mechanics in my area, they all say this is 'custom' work.
I appreciate the help.
My bad bud, I took the tires off the rear today and saw where the base of the spring hits, its more self explanatory than I thought. I saw a diagram on a different site where the spring sat where the damper rod enters, so it didnt make sense to me. Heres what mine looks like.
Before I started throwing extra washers on, I'd replace that upper spring insulator and see what happens. It looks like there's something funky going on with yours.
The part that comes in 4mm & 5mm is actually the white plastic piece at the very top. Porsche specifies one or the other depending on if you have Sport or regular springs. Since you have aftermarket springs (look like Eibach possibly?), I don't know what to suggest. The part that I thought looked dodgy is the foam looking thing right below it. It is part #997.333.504.00 and as far as I remember only comes in one thickness. I didn't go back through this whole thread to see if you mentioned your year and model so I can only say this applied to my '99 C2.
I used the term
foam looking thing
to try and clarify which part I was referring to in my pic. It's not foam
or
plastic, it's rubber.
Here's a pic of a T pin stuck in the 'hard plastic'.
The rear top spring seats on my car are the white onesI assure you theyre not rubber Apparently, there are at least two different materials used for these parts
Part 3 is plastic, 4 is rubber.
4 is now updated with a 997 number and is off white, brown. The original was black.
99733350400
Part 3
99633351102
99633351103
This is the rubber part.
This is plastic, comes in .5 and 4mm heights
This gets more and more interesting From what I remember (its been a couple years now) I had neither the brown or black rubber part on mine. They are solid high density whitish plastic (not the interlocking cover piece shown). Clearly updated parts (mine is a 99).
