Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I checked into it and found that Porsche specifically recommends against topping off for my model year.

I changed my technique a bit to slow the flow down when I know I am close to being full.

Most experts will tell you not to over fill the tank.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I'm fillin' up my car last night and after the handle clicked that the car was full, I tried to "squeeze" more in. I only got 2 or 3 more squeezes and clicks and the gas started to pour out all over the place! It then started leaking from underneath the rocker panel a few inches behind the front wheel opening.
I remember reading some posts here about some people being able to fit "quite a bit more" into the tank after the handle clicks off.
Mine seems to be FULL when the handle clicks the first time. I have a C4-S and I have heard there is more of an issue since the fuel tank is slightly different.
Can anybody explain how they can fit so much more in or is it that I am already full at that point?
TIA
LanceK,
My C4S is full as soon as the lever clicks off. Any further attempts to put gas in results in spillage. The fuel gauge is above the full mark at this point. Most experts will tell you not to over fill the tank. If the lever clicks off and the gauge reads full, why would you wan't to "squeeze" in some more?
LanceK,
I have a C4 cab (not an S), but it is the same tank config. The tank in the C4 actually holds more than a C2 (according to the manual), i think its like 16.1 gal v 16.9 gal. Anyway, I too have tried to overfill the tank after it 'clicks' off, with the same results. If you look just below the gas cap on the fender, there is a little hole, so if bozos like me and you overfill, and it spills out, it won't drip down the outside of fender (on the paint), but instead will drain thru this hole, down the inside of the fender and onto the ground behind the front wheel, hence your puddle.
I think the reason the C2 can get a little more after the click is due to the location of the tank and the longer neck, where as the C4 has a shorter neck to the tank.
LanceK, I tried the top off thing only once. My CEL took a week to go off. I checked into it and found that Porsche specifically recommends against topping off for my model year. Sorry, I don't have a link on it.
Anyway, when the hose turns off she is full, and gets cranky if I try to put any more in. I changed my technique a bit to slow the flow down when I know I am close to being full.
Just Dont Over fill ur tanks and thats it !

its not a huge issue unless you are travling to the moon.
---- J/k dont take this post too serious ---
Thanks for all the feedback guys!
I'm not worried about a few ounces but I thought I remembered someone saying they could fit a gallon or two more, just as someone above said after driving around the block or something.
I won't be fiddling with it and will just stop at the click. I felt really stupid last night driving home with the interior smelling of gas!
