does it let you do things like reset the stupid airbag light that comes on (because of my bastard sport seats and whatnot) or various other warning lights that are useless?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have noticed that my 01 C4cab will sometimes appear to misfire, or hesitate, or buck a few times under intial throttle at various low rpms, in various gears. These typically happen when the car is cold at very low speed, but are starting to happen when the car is fully warmed up after spirited driving around 3000 rpm in 4th or 5th. I've only put <1k miles on this car I bought 2 months ago with 12.5k miles. Any thoughts? thanks and happy new year!

POST 2Original post

Do you have a scan tool? Take a look at all the readings of the various sensors that are monitored for a hint. If you don't have a scan tool or scan software for your laptop, buy one. No serious car owner should be without one.

POST 3Original post

^ do scan tools work with any laptop and windows XP? are you refering to the OBDII reader?

POST 4Original post

yes...as long as you have a serial port. It is the most important tool you can have.

POST 5Original post

These cars apparently exhibit a little hesitation only around 3,000 rpm. I read somewhere that it was related to the way the variocam works and was considered "normal". I am not sure if that is what you are experiencing.

POST 6Original post

does it let you do things like reset the stupid airbag light that comes on (because of my bastard sport seats and whatnot) or various other warning lights that are useless?

POST 7Original post

You can reset the error codes as well as see the activity of most sensors. You should get one that will display the live readings of Idle, MAF, O2 sensors, timing, Fuel Trim, Calculated load, engine temp and engine compartment temp Knowing what these reading are when your car is running correctly is impairitive in proper diagnossis of a problem when one occurs. I have a modified commercial laptop software, but there are many that will provide what you need. Search this forum and I am sure your get some references.

POST 8Original post

are they available so that they connect via a USB port (or better yet..to a Palm or PocketPC)? (i just checked and my comp doesn't have a serial port)
