Car looks nice, but is this a 2002 or a 2004... header of eBay says it's a 2002 and the description says it's a 2004??? Seller sya there is factory warranty left... Not sure what factory warranty is left on a 2002... can't be anything since the july 2002 production P cars were labeled 2003... hence pre august 2002 production and warranty should be expired. Did you have someone on the board check this car out for you and go see it in person?

Looks nice. Why does the airbag cover on the steering wheel look black and the steering wheel is gray? Lighting, perhaps?

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Gotta get it checked out, get my funds wired from Global. I'd say within' the next two weeks...I hope!

POST 10Original post

Congratulations. Looks like a nice clean carfax (although you might ask for an explaination on the electrical system service). Hopefully you'll get the Global issue sorted out ASAP and be able to close on this car promptly. One of the things that this episode has taught me is to be nervous of any car that goes to Texas for auction. I really don't get that - even on this one... spent most of it's life in OH, but then goes to TX for auction. Maybe someone can explain that to me, because it just sound odd. .. it's not as though all major auction houses are in TX.

POST 11Original post

I think you already won the auction ... not much room if the car checks out bad .. ? Nonetheless, good luck with the purchase, and hope this one checks out better than your previous attempt

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The car has to check out to my satisfaction, otherwise, deal is off. Ebay rule's will say that the car was not described as it is.

POST 14Original post

arrogant, I wish you all of the best with this one. Looks like you got a winner this time. The upside is that from now on you are going to be the go to guy on the board for dealer problems.

POST 15Original post

YooHoo~~ That looks exactly like my car! Same year as well. Except mine's grey, has a pedal less, and the handbrake lever is leather. Congratulations! Hope it works out well.

POST 16Original post

Good luck on this one. Not sure about Bose though, I can't see the Bose logo on the speaker from the pics.

POST 17Original post

Maybe I missed a couple hundred messages in this whole mess but is this guy actually buying a second Porsche without cash in hand from the first deal? He sounds awfully eager to make this happen so he can get some sort of extended warranty before the original one expires. Man, if it were me and I was made whole after the initial transaction I would put all those bucks in a new car with a four year factory warranty and the color of my choice. And I would be kissing the ground and every Rennlister who made me wise.

POST 19Original post

A lot of them look that way when photographed, including the one I bought. Looks fine in person. Very likely nothing amiss.

POST 20Original post

Technically shouldnt this thread be title 2nd 911 not 1st? I am glad I got my ticket and popcorn before opening (as in wallet) night.

POST 21Original post

That's what I would do too. If you paid 50k cash for th efirst one, I would get that back and put it into a new car even if it meant taking a note for a couple of years it wouldn't be that big a deal.

POST 22Original post

Is it just me or does that link to the eBay ad look ALOT like one we reviewed recently? I can't remember how far back it was (but it was recently) or what the thread title was. For some reason the pics in that ad are VERY FAMILIAR. Anybody feel the same way?

POST 23Original post

I'm with you Dell. I'm certain I've seen that eBay ad and those pics before. Carfax indicates auction sold in mid-July in TX, yet I seem to recall seeing that ad at least a month prior -- for location Addison, TX. Timeline appears to be a bit off, otherwise it looks like a really clean C4S. Congrats and good luck!

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Called PCNA to get option codes. It DOES NOT have bose. ALso listed in ad is ALuminum door sills, Lumbar AND memory seats. None of the option codes reflect this. Time to call, find out and renegotiatte a lower price if necessary. Called the dealer in Ohio. The electrical service was the horn wasn't working properly, (whew). He gave me the date and miles at the time of service. It all matches up.

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nah, it would take about 90k to get what I want new. Not in the budget. Taking a loan or not, im not spending that much money on a car. I will shop for a good, 3 year aftermarket warranty. Just cause I had a negative experience is no reason to change up my plan and spend 30k more than origionally intended. Sometimes working hard to procure what you want makes it worth it in the end. $56k is enough to spend on a car right now. Also, don't forget, I drove my Boxster S for a year/8k miles and sold it for $200 less than I paid. Drove my Cadillac CTS-V for 8 months/5.5k miles and sold it for $2Grand more than I paid. I like buying used cars, am good at it and it seems to always work out with dividends in the end.

POST 26Original post

I have ONE big question....why not find a C4S where you are and where you can SEE? Also Why not go to a Porsche dealer and get one from them where you can get them to stand behind it? If I had 50k cash, I'd go to the dealer and say, what can you get me for 50k right now....I bet you could get close to the one you are looking at with ALOT less hassle and headache, and probably with a CPO warranty for piece of mind....Why are you dealing with ebay where there are LOTS of scams and with fly by night car dealers? I have bought 2 cars from Porsche dealers, both cars were in excellect shape and when something wasnt right, they made it right and stood behind the car...You are gonna need the dealer at some point and buying from them is a good way of building a good relationship with them. Goodwill repairs are at the dealers discretion and they wont do them if you just roll in off the street with an out of state ebay car they have nothing to do with.

POST 27Original post

So why not take the 56k, plus the 3k you will spend in an inferior aftermarket warranty, and you are close to 60k....I KNOW for a fact you can get a C4S for 60k with a CPO FACTORY warranty...a lot less headace....

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Aftermarket warranty is $1500. Find me a CPO 2002+ C4S with 17k miles or less, in silver or blk (preffer silver) with a clean title (no accidents etc...) with similar options for $58. I haven't been able to find anything close

POST 29Original post

I bought my 2004 C2 this past December brand new(still came with CPO as well) with 24 miles on the clock for 59. I would think you could would have no trouble finding something to fit your needs. I think there is some good advice above. I would go to your local dealership and try and develop a repoire with them. get them to find you a car. Tell them what you want, how much you will spend, etc. let them find it and CPO it. You are going to have to service the thing at some point, and it is nice to go into the place and have a relationship established. You will find you will get better treatment, etc. Anyway, just $.02. There are tons of great 911's out there. I would find something that is closer and you can look at, test drive, get local PPI, etc.

POST 30Original post

BTW- if you do a pre owned search at www.porsche.com you will find a 2003 seal gray/gray car with CPO warranty and 38k miles for 59k. Comes with Bose, full leather, bi xenon, crest in headrest, aluminum dials, and PSE. Vin is WP0AA299X3S623097 from Boarwalk Porsche. There is also a silver one at Leith Porsche, but no CPO. I would check out this one from Boardwalk. Great pics of the car, CPO, and in your price range.

POST 31 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The one at Leith has 37k miles. The one at Boardwalk is 60k with 39,686 Miles. I think IM gonna stick with this clean NON porshce CPO car, with 17.5k miles for the final negotiatted price of $56,300, then I will buy a 3 year aftermarket warranty for $1400. I will be a few hundred shy of paying $58,000. If the PPI passes I'll be thrilled.

POST 32Original post

I am not sure if this car is still available (not a fan of the wood interior but that could be an easy fix if you don't like it either) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=250011857161 I bought my car from Ian they were very honest and the car was in excellent condition as described. For the budget you have set I would buy a TT. You will be so much happier style and weight of the C4S with a huge potential for additional power above what you get in stock form. Eric

POST 33Original post

I would have to rip out that interior trim and replace it with carbon fiber or aluminum.

POST 34Original post

arr0gant, Why the hurry? Why all this self inflicted pain? Why buy a car from godd!@mn Texas after all the crap you've gone through? Why not buy from a dealer? I just don't get it!! The car on eBay does like nice, but the write-up is full of errors. The seller has a good number of negative/withdrawn feedbacks. Why aren't you using people on this BB to check cars out for you iso pulling the trigger and than finding out there are issues? I had people check multiple cars out for me prior to pulling the trigger... people on this BB are willing to do this for you... Why are you so stubborn! I do wish you all the best and hope this works out for you, but I do have to question your IQ... if a hundred people are willing to help you and you basically ignore them... well I guess you are either absolutely stupid or really arr0gant!! By the way... bought my 2003 cab from a P dealer with warranty till 2009... 28k miles... and paid $58K. There are reasonable deals to be had at P dealers!

POST 36Original post

What I don't get is that you are willing to do all ths to save say 1500 bucks? Did you even negotiate at a P dealer. Those prices listed are asking. If they have a cal listed for 59k I am sure you can negotiate down to 55k. Easy. Plus you have a cpo. Aftermarket warranties are very shady. Also for a cpo car it has to pass inspections meaning no accidents. Scheduled maintanence has been done. Brakes and tires and clutch all have to be at a certain point and a dealer network that will stand behind the car. I don't understand why the resistence. A 996 is NOT like other cars you can just buy. There are plenty that can and will go wrong. 2 years ago when I bought my car I looked at a C4S at a porsche dealer with 7k miles for 63K with a cpo warranty. That was 2 years ago.

POST 37Original post

I will save him the hassle of typing. Prolly not a good idea to give car purchase advice unless you are a Porsche dealer that understands CPO and extended warranties. So, unless you are a porsche dealer or sell extended warranties thanks anyway. However if you are a car dealer, please continue to give free advice. From post 73 of his other thread:

POST 38 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Tom, go away...you are annoying. Anyhow - global is shipping the car back this week. I think it's just luck that I found this car in Dallas. After looking EVERYWHERE, including every P-dealer in the nation, there is nothing even close. It has the options I want, color I want, LOW miles and its a C4S. After talking to Jeremy at Best Tree Sports, I trust it's a good car. I called every dealer it had been worked on, only routine maintenance. Only thing ever wrong with it was the horn wasn't working right. It will be PPI'd and I can negotiatte any weakness's it may have. If anyone can find me a CPO'd car for even close to this car's miles, options etc... for a similar price, great. Otherwise, this is my car. If I get to Dallas and don't like it, I WILL NOT buy it. If anyone is willing to check it out, I would certainly appreciatte it. I have already asked and have gotten no responses. There is a guy waiting in the wings to buy this car, if I renneg. Matter of fact, it was pulled off of Ebay last nite, BEFORE I bought it. I got it just in time. I am using Autocritics ( http://www.usedcarinspections.com/index.htm ) for the PPI. They give 150 point inspection, as well as drive the car and give me a detailed report of the interior.

POST 39Original post

You can't get a CPO C4S from a p-dealer for anywhere close to $50k. Dealers are selling 02 C2 for $50k with CPO. I haven't seen any dealers selling a C4S for less than $60-65k with a warranty.

POST 40Original post

Yes, I agree it does look familiar. I was shopping C4S recently (I just bought one two weeks ago) and I thought I remember seeing that add. I would be very leery about a car that only has 17k miles and has passed through three different states. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I would stay away from Texas cars brought in from another state. $56k is not chump change to spend on a car, I would make sure it is perfect before I would buy one. I searched for 7 months for my C4S which I paid $50k for.

POST 41Original post

OK, I am in Dallas and will be happy to look at the car for you, but. You should send the car to Boardwalk for the PPI and ask for John Gladwell or Jason McGlaughlin to do it. I just left there buying parts. They are the experts! If you will send it to them I will go up there when it is there and look it over. If you have it PPI'd by some service I have never heard of I am not sure I want to get involved. FYI It is Bent Tree and they have an OK reputation but not really in the Porsche community. Just send me a PM.

That's great! Be sure to take Steven up on his generous offer, though.

POST 45Original post

Big ups for Steve! Very nice offer to help out. Hope you take him up on it.

POST 46Original post

This dealer is flat out lying to you. This car has the FEWEST options I've ever seen on a full-leather car. I'd complain to Ebay and get out. Most similar priced cars will have up to $10,000 more in useful options, such as: Navigation Bose Heated Seats Lumbar Supple Leather Crest on Seats Seat Memory Carbon Fiber Pkg

POST 47 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dam, 7 months? Nice price. Thought I had my deal pegged for 49k. We see what happened there. Is yours CPO? How many miles? What options etc???

POST 48 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It does have memory seats. It also has the Sport Design Pak, Litronics, power seats. The main selling point to me, and more important then options that I don't really care about, is it has under 20k miles. To me this makes the car worth 56k. More options would just bring the car up into the 60k range.

POST 49Original post

No, bought it from the original owner (a rennlist member) will all service records. Car had 49k miles Passed ppi with flying colors, all that it needed was rear tires and the seller threw in 2 brand new rear tires for the same price. So I really paid $49.5 if you count the tires It has litronics (bose, xenons) supple leather, heated seats, power seats, aluminum shifter and parking brake, and a few more options. Original sticker was $89k. I looked at many 02 911/C4S, most had about 7k-15k miles for $60-65k, but my car had a lot more miles but was in better condition than any of them. The one lesson I learned during those 7 months is you get what you pay for (if a deal looks too good to be true....) and condition matters a lot more than mileage. All the low mileage examples looked like they were run hard and put away wet. Or seriously neglected. I don't think low mileage is a good thing on these cars, I know a couple of people who bought 996's with under 20k miles and most of the bugs were not worked out yet and they had some problems. I know it's hard to wait when you want to get another one so bad, believe me I was there, but it's definitely worth waiting a couple of months to find the right one.

POST 50Original post

Wow, that's a nice looking car. For < 60K, that is one hell of a nice car. Just looking at the descriptions & pics of the two cars, I'd take this one over the C4S he's considering in a split second. It's a freakin' turbo with 36k miles on it. Plus, it's not from Texas and is being sold by a dealer who has provided at least one known positive experience. Of course, I'm not him. <shrug>

POST 51 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, of course the quality of the ride is #1. But getting a car with low miles AND a cream-puff, is really what I am looking for. All I can do is set up the deal (which looks to be good). If I get there and the car isn't right, I'll turn right around. All I can do is X my fingers and hope the cars as good as it looks.

POST 52Original post

Much of what has transpired in this triple thread saga has left me scratching my head .... but I have no worries about Jeremy at Benttree Sports & Imports (that is Benttree , by the way .... not Best Tree). Jeremy sold me my car almost 2 years ago. Everything he told me on the phone prior to my first inspection was honest & accurate. When I showed up to to take a look, he just handed me the keys. When I committed, he went through the PPI and addressed every (though minor) squawk. He had it ready when promised, and had someone pick me up at DFW (30 miles distant). The car was in his shop, washed, vacuumed, and full of gas so I could head out to Atlanta immediately. He had the title in my hands in a matter of days. The car has been superb since then. No time in the shop other than the back window coming unglued .... and I certainly don't blame him for that. Bottom line .... I would do business the Jeremy and Benttree again without a second thought.

POST 53Original post

i drove the c4s at leith...for about 63k you could buy the 997 they had with 8k miles..much nicer imo.

POST 54Original post

I hope it works out for you. I'm sure you could find a cream puff for that price and mileage in a private sale, buying from original owner, getting all the service records, etc., but I can't see a dealer selling a C4S that low with that little mileage unless something is wrong. A cream puff low mileage at a dealer would be closer to $65k.

POST 55Original post

racecardriver is right...the base 997 i drove could be had for less than the 03 c4s..the 997 was an 05..not to offend anyone, but i would not think twice..997 all the way.

POST 56 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So far everything checks out. If it is anything LESS than cream-puff when I get there, I will plan ahead for flights out of Dallas.

POST 57Original post

One last thing here I must say...it is not Best Tree nor Benttree. It is Bent Tree Auto Group where the car is. About 2 miles from Ruf Dallas and 5 miles from Boardwalk Porsche. Sorry....it was starting to get to this Dallas boy

POST 58 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hmmm. Tempting, out of my price range.

POST 60Original post

I would never own a base 997 over an 02-04 C4S. ymmv, Rob

POST 61 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I agree, but I'd take a 997 Carrera S over a 996 C4S.

POST 62Original post

Possibly. The 996 C4S is an awesome 911.. it would be difficult. Even the 997 C4S doesn't have exclusive options that the 996 C4S had, including styling.

POST 63Original post

I almost bought a full option (including PCCB) 05 997CS, for $77k from a fellow rennlister. Dealer.. you can expect about $80k-ish. I would NOT want to take the base 997. I agree with RIAD, 996 C4S looks better than 997 C4S, because it is more distinctive (spoilers, wheels and tail-lights), most people would not be able to differentiate b/w base carrera or a C4S (both 997).

POST 64Original post

Maybe I am not the sharpest tool, but I did get a degree in economics, and saw "Back To School" so i do have a very basic understaning of business. It is my understanding dealers are in business to sell something for more than they paid/invested. I also believe i read that gant wants to get the most car for the least money, which i totally agree with. I am currently shopping for "the right" C2. A friend bought one this winter for what i believe is a very low price. He bought it from the owner who was a friend of the original owner who my friend happens to be aquainted with. BINGO, he has the whole history of the car from the horses mouth. Am i incorrect again in assuming the most value for the dollar would be from the owner of the car. Ive often bought cars from people for trade in plus sales tax (they would have gotten on the trade) plus a few hundred bucks. Of course I ask what they are getting on the trade after I advise them on how to get the new car for the lowest price. I sold a car last year for $100 less than I would have gotten on a trade because I didnt want to put down 12k on a lease(smartbuy). Am i missing something with this obsession to buy from a dealer?

POST 65Original post

I don't know your whole situation so forgive me if I'm off-base, but if I were you I would seriously consider using the cash you have in hand - the 50 something thousand, and get a loan for 10-15K to get something a good bit newer, nicer, less sketchy (not that I'm saying this car is sketchy but the inconsistencies in the ad and the car bring up a couple of questions), etc. If you can afford to pay 56k cash on a car, surely you can afford 3 or 4 hundred or so a month for about 3 years to get a nicer car for those 3 years. This is just a suggestion - so sorry if I'm way off, but that's what I would do in your situation.

POST 66 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Youre NOT way off, i appreciatte your opinion. Here is what I am thinking... My original limit was $50k I am stretching it too $56k. I am just NOT spending any more on a car. I just don't wanna divert any more money from investments. The guy thought if it had the changer, it had the bose. He really didn't know. I called him after I found out he made a mistake with that and the lumbar. I renegottiated and he dropped off $300. I have gotten people telling me how honest this fella is. He sounds very trustworthy. The car seems like it's a really good buy. Good enough for me to set up the deal and fly out there for a couple hundy. It is worth it to me to take the risk of NOT buying from a dealer and saving 5 to 10 grand. I have done this before and kept money in the bank, then sold the car for a profit a year or so later. Works for me so far. I'm gonna stick w/it. Dealers are too overpriced.

POST 67Original post

Benttreesports is a dealer. At least thats what I would call someone with 35 cars for sale on ebay. How much is he making? How much less would it be if you bought it from an individual? With cash in your hand you dont need used car dealers and their financing options. Thats why i believe you will get the best deal from an individual. not many people can flash 50k cash for a used car. with an individual all the cards are in your hand. I was lead to believe that the dealers usually keep the best of the trade ins for their lot and send the rest to auction where other dealers get them. thats why i prefer going the route of the individual. Usually the price isnt much more than auction, and i get the whole story.

POST 68Original post

arrOgant, I'm posting for 2 reasons. 1. Did you get your $$$ back from Momentum/Global? 2. So I'll be subscribed to the thread because your last adventure was a good read. If you'd like any advice, feel free to ask. I'll not throw it out there unsolicited. I am a licensed dealer in Arkansas but it isn't my real job. I just buy the very best Porsches, Jags, Mercedes, etc... that I can find and drive them for a while. Then, hopefully I can sell them for a small profit or at least no loss. I have experience buying from individuals as well as dealers and auctions. Sounds like we have a lot in common. About the same age, like to buy drive and sell nice cars. Both have a real job to support our nasty car habit, etc... Let me know if I can help in any way.

POST 69 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the kind words, any advice would be totally welcomed. Just got the call from the driver picking my car up. Global called and verified all my expenses and gave me the amount they would cut the check for. It includes air-fare and gas. They are obciously paying to ship the car back, as well. They have faxed me a copy of how much i get back and that once the truck picks up the car, they will overnite the check and I will have it in the morning, they will also provide tracking info. I am waiting till i have the check in hand to tell everyone here who doubted that I would get my money back PLUS expenses, and for them to arrange and pay for transport, who gets the last laff. I mean i have had people telling me, who don't even know me and are not in the situation, that I am delusional, I am dreaming. I am so Naive if I think I wil get expenses back, I am being ripped off, I am stupid, and the list goes on. So Arrogant and presumptuos. To all those people, you know who you are, and so does everyone else.....here's what I have to say ----> And to the people who truley "cared" enought to give good advice, suggested lawyers and sent encouraging PM's. I wanna say thanks!! Anyhow, Global, so far has stood behind everything they have said, and I believe I have nothing, nor ever had anything to worry about. Global is demanding that Momentum buys back the car for what teh sold it for, and payes my expenses.

POST 70Original post

Oh, I still think you are a naive, arrogant and dillusional ***** who'll never see a dime, but that's none of my business. I'm just kidding! It sounds like it is all going to work out for you. That is really great! Just an FYI, there are 2 Bent Tree Autos in the Dallas area. You are dealing with the larger (and more reputable) of the 2. There is another broker located in Addison who deals mostly with Lexus, Jaguar, etc... The one you are dealing with actually has a decent showroom and a good reputation (as far as used car dealers go). If you hear something bad about them, make sure the teller isn't talking about the other one, you know? Best of luck and, please keep us posted!

POST 71Original post

I believe this is usually the part in the movie where everything's supposedly spelled out as expected, but then a shocking twist unfolds. I'm eagerly awaiting the climax. Sorry, couldn't resist!

POST 72Original post

I may be wrong but I think this story is not over yet. An overnight check including expenses from a Texas used car dealer belongs in some category right out if Ripley's Believe It Or Not.

POST 73 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ya ya, it seems like it SHOULD be the end of the movie, alas it's only an hour in. Something HAS to go seriously wrong now!! GOOD thing this AIN'T no movie!! Steven went and checked it out for me. Gave it the He found some rock-chips in the bumper, but those are getting fixed.

POST 74Original post

Well...I found a few more small items than just rock chips but all in all seems like a clean car. Not perfect, but the good thing is the PO didn't own it for 50,000 miles or he would have done serious harm at the rate he worked on it to 17,000 miles. I did not get under the car to look for leaks and I did not drive it but it is certainly worth the trip down to see it for yourself. Hey, this is the kind of work you get for free these days

POST 75Original post

Damn Steven, you work fast! Rennlist magic strikes again!

POST 76Original post

Steven - I just wanted to say that what you did (checking out this car for him) is really great! Kudos to you for being willing to help him out!

POST 78 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Awsum!! I can't wait to repay the favor if anyone on this board needs it!! Thanks again, Steven!! You're a man among men!!

POST 79Original post

No problem and I appreciate the opportunity as this board over the last year I have been around has been very valuable to me for both of my cars. It has also made ownership of my Porsche's much more fun. I have already been paid back....in advance Thanks everyone!

POST 81Original post

You said you looked for one at a Porsche dealer but I just saw 3 or so 2 silver/black combos FULLY LOADED for under 60k asking price....one for 60k asking with 8k miles....If you are gonna pay 56k plus 1500 for a warranty you are at 57.5...would it hurt to call a P car dealer and say I have 57.5 will you sell me that car? I think you are discounting dealers...I got my C4 Cab for LESS than private party blue book WITH a Porsche warrany, all from the dealer. It had low miles and was immaculate...then it needed 30k in warranty work in 2 years. But after all that, including a new engine, its now a PERFECT car...It just looks like you are spending money to save money and doing more work than you need to...all the money you are spending on PPI's and traveling to look at cars, you could put that into the car and find a good one at a Porsche dealer. Its like diving 50 miles out of your way to save .05 a gallon on gas....in the end you spend money to say you saved money.

POST 82 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ya ya, i saw that one. Gonna call now!!

POST 83 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, my car is gone, picked-up by Global's driver yesterday. I miss it alot, but am happy it's gone and looking forward to picking up my new car on Wed. Plane-ticket in-hand. I'll get there at 9am, drive it and take delivery if the car is "right". I have takedn peoples great advice and... ...i've been up and down the lists: Autotrader, Yahoo Auto's, Ebay etc... Called about 20 Porsche dealers. None of the have any C4S's for anywhere close to $58k for similar cars, CPO. One Porsche salesguy told me he thought it was a great deal for those miles and if I've called all around to get history, I should be fine. True there were a couple low-miles CPO'd C4S that were sold close to 60k but they are all long gone, most Porsche dealers see these cars very rarely. I was actually encouraged to buy that car for that price by most sales-guys, given everything they recommended has checked out.

POST 84Original post

so, you got your check for the car and expenses?

POST 85 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No, I got a fax from them that states, as soon as the car is delivered back to them, they will overnite the check. So, it's not over yet. I just made sure that they put the exact amount I would be getting back, on the fax. Thing that sux is that it will take the check 5 to 10 bus. days to clear. No worries...

POST 86Original post

I would demand a certified check or cashier's check, that way the money is available immediately.

POST 87 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Doesn't workt that way, that amount, unless it's cash, has to process. Cashiers check or certified, still has to clear. Already talked to Bank Of America about it.

POST 88Original post

Then have them WIRE TRANSFER the funds. That takes 1-2 business days (depending on time of day sent) and when the cash is there it is YOURS!

POST 89 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good idea. I'll ask them. As long as they give me a tracking number, I'm not worried about it. It doesn't HAVE to be availabe right away or anything.

POST 90Original post

I just have to ask, gant. How do you have time to make all these calls, do all this car searching, and check on all the follow-ups? Either your boss is very understanding or never around. That's a lot to get done during a "work" day, but then I am not in IT (I have no clue what you guys do). You must have a lot of down time.

POST 91 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My job allows for me to be very flexible. As long as things aren't broken, amazingly, I have time for this bs.

POST 92Original post

I was looking at the other cars on Global's website and I saw this... http://www.globalmotorcars.com/detai...tockNumber=167 that made me wonder if the entry was ever taken down, or is back up now that they're back in possession. Knowing what we now know about this place I really wonder about the stories behind some of the other cars on the website.

POST 93Original post

Is that the same exact car that Arrogant bought????? If so, they are asking more for it now????

POST 94Original post

Old thread, haven't read it all, but one site I didn't see mentioned that I like to compare prices is www.autobaron.com

POST 95Original post

So what's happened? Did you get your money wired or check FedEx'd?

POST 96Original post

And what about the new car? Did you buy the new one?

POST 98Original post

Was that a cricket? or was it my ? The silence is deafening. Show us the money!!

POST 99Original post

Ribbit! ...by now a Fedex tracking number should be in hand and Arr0Gant should be watching for the check in the mail... oh no, that sounds so much like I just said the check was in the mail and we all know what that means. Well, the car is on the website, maybe they're waiting until they resell the submarine before they send the check.

POST 100Original post

Oh, cut him some slack... I'm actually interested in knowing if this company is on the up & up or not.

POST 101 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Still waiting to hear from Global. Car is supposed to be returned to them TODAY!! Talked to them a few X's today. Leave tomorrow at 10:50am for Dallas to buy the C4S. WILL keep you all posted.

POST 103 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey, thanks Slick!! Brooke from Global just called me, she said the driver was held up, he expects to be there at noon tomorrow. As stated in the fax, they will send the check out, Fed-Ex overnite, once they recieve the car. That is what she said. Looks like Global is on the ^up^ . Hopefully, as I'm driving off in my new C4S, a check for $50k will be shipping out as well. BTW, Tom, ease up on the pop-corn, not good for the wasteline.

POST 104Original post

Hopefully they are on the up and up. good luck with the new toy.

POST 105Original post

Wire transfer takes 15 minutes. Hell my friend did one from a Canadian Bank to a bank in Oklahoma for his 968. I had a glass of water waiting for the funds to arrive.

POST 106Original post

I was being VERY generous with that time quote just to illustrate the point that the money could be there almost immediately. This whole transaction has become a train wreck in slow motion. I sure hope all ends well.

POST 108 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Recieved the check, put it in the bank.

POST 109Original post

Sweet! Congrats! And your new car??? Did it work out too?

POST 110 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Everything is great. Trip was great. I feel Jeremy from Bent Tree is very honest. Car is better than I could have imagined. It drives and feels brand new. I'll post pics of the new car soon. I feel as if they could have gotten 60k out of this car. It's that nice. The only flaw is a small ding on the inside of the door-sill, above the aluminum sill. Prolly can't be pulled out. Other than that, I really think this car is as nice as they come. I bought a warranty from Warranty Direct for $1500. Hard work has payed off? Check still has to clear.

POST 111Original post

I truly hope this thing ends well. Congrats on the new car.

POST 112Original post

So, did I find everything wrong with it? After being with it for a day you may have found something I didn't find. Have fun with it.

POST 113 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

LOL, Jeremy complained, jokingly, he said, Gant, Had I known you we're having someone to come scope it, I would have had those issues worked out first. The ONLY thing wrong with it was that ding inside the door, he could't get that out. Everthing else, was fixed, IE rock-chips on bumber, Aluminium sill was Buffed and Polished, it looks almost perfect now, crinkles in leather we're moisturized and look totally natural now, the interior and exterior looks and feels that of a really well taken care of 1 year car, not a 4 year car. My friends can't believe how nice it is....and the way it drives? WOW it's like a new car, right off the lot. I'll go more into detail about the comparisons between my last car and this one tho, later....Thanks again Stevo!!

POST 115Original post

Good for you. What an arduous journey, but I'm sure you'll feel it was worth it!

POST 117Original post

Now, now, now. That's uncalled for. The cautions were justified. Sure, things worked out for Arr0Gant, but they equally may not have. If you have been following the other thread you will see that the dealer is now trying to pawn that same car off on someone else without telling them that it's a submarine. There's a reason why used car dealers have a bad reputation - sometimes they deserve it.

POST 118Original post

It was just a joke. And, hey...I'm a used car dealer. (well, I have a dealers license, but I also have a real job to support my nasty car habit. Hey, I'll go down and buy the submarine if I get to drive it for a month, then return it to the dealer for a full refund...hell, let's all do it!

POST 119Original post

Follow the other thread for updates. Time to sit low and let Gant get his money back and run this one for a while. ... in the meantime we have to sit in the wings and let him do his stuff.

POST 120Original post

i posted arguments I believe the other side could have made, which could have drawn out the process. hence my firm belief that he should take the money and run, and not let global find him another car. but that is in the past. I did believe the wait for the $$ would have been longer/more drawn out. In this case i am glad i was wrong. He took the money and bought somewhere else. Since the car is still being sold, in that respect i am glad i was right. Global made good in this case. hopefully this case is the norm, not the exception.
