Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I purchased my 996 yesterday! MANY thanks to all those on Rennlist that helped me with questions beforehand, and with more questions sure to come.
Here's the skinny:

All records

This seems to be a very well maintained car.
The PPI showed a number of things that need correction. I'll post those in separate response in this thread, but for now, here are some pics.
These are phone pics, so I will post more upon detailing and using a real camera.
Good for you! Your another lucky new owner! I'm in the bay area too and didn't see this car at all.. Did you buy from cl or eBay? If you don't mind sharing with me cost cause my numbers have been getting turned down..
Here's a list of things found in the PPI and the dealer's price for fixing. Any guidance on any of these issues would be much appreciated. I can google more aggressively if nothing is answered here.
If you are local, and want to come help, I'll buy the beer (or wine).
Diagnose And Repair Horns (Horn Inop) $380.04 - this seems to be the biggest issue. Any links on diagnosing?
Repair Curb Damage (Curb Damage At Rr) $150 rim needs minor cosmetic work
Replace Brake Light Assy (3Rd Brake Light Bulb Out In Spoiler) $341.47 anyone got a part number on this one?
Replace Both Visor Inserts (Both Vanity Lights Damaged) $441.82 anyone got a part number?
Replace Missing Guide (Fuel Door Lock Guide Missing) $2.57
Replace Front Hood Struts (Front Hood Struts Weak) $177.48 pelican - OEM $30
Replace Rear Lid Strut (Rear Lid Strut Weak) $112.97 pelican - OEM $23
Replace Lr Rubber Lip $51.09
Replace Missing Air Scoop $51.09
Replace Ignition Lock Housing $663.28 - supposedly the key sticks sometimes upon removal. I won't sweat this one until something begins to happen.
Reattach Sill Plate $444.75 Sill is in good shape, just needs new adhesive. Recommendations?
Clean Water Drains $270
Flush Brake System $179

Again, pretty minor stuff. I'd like to clean the water drains, even though the car will live in the garage and probably never touch rain.

congrats, "Ocean Blue"; Cabs are perfect for Cali weather. those 17's were pry bottom of the barrel on 996s; my Cab also came with them. but the OP's car seems to have some very nice options ( if they are original to the car); Sports Seats, Full Leather, headlamp washers, Large Oval Tip exhaust. if it has PSM, another Plus. also heated and memory seats are nice to have.
Definitely looks like a nice find; maintenance history, all manuals, keys, etc.
Enjoy the drive, looks like great top-down weather. When you want to change it up a bit or if the weather changes, go with the hardtop; it transforms the car completely. If your garage allows, look into an electric or manual hoist
in order to make hardtop install and removal a one-person job.
Looks like the rear taillamps are LED. You may also want to look into switching Headlamps to Litronics, if the opportunity arises.
it's a slippery slope.....
Congrats on a nice looking car. The hard tops go for about $5-$800 on ebay. Getting that color maybe harder than the artic silver like mine. I have gained lots of DIY info from youtube so keep your eye out there on work done on 1999 996 cars. Check Amazon and ebay for parts and fluids if you are into DIY work. That first photo was a bit small wasn't it? lol...
Ocean Blue Cabs are the best!
Nice looking paint on the car. Beautifully maintained and/or polished. I'm not loving the headlight overlays over the amber lights. Looks strange to me, but then again, I love the look of the early 996 headlights.
Congrats on the new ride!
