Mine's a C4 coupe, so there might be difference there...What did you replace your stock springs/suspension with?

Suggestion
I found the softest setting on the front and the middle setting on the rear and it's dialed in very, very well.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've been putting off starting to tear the car apart to do some "winter maintenance" so I could take it out to get it washed (I drove it in a rally two weeks ago and it basically got covered in snow melt and salt...
Anyway, since the weather has just been getting worse ever since, I decided to get started - if/when the weather gets nice I'll put it back together and get it washed... So in taking the front drivers side wheel off I noticed the front spring has the following color markings on it
Anyone know what these mean? The sway bars also have a green dot on them (I enhanced the color due to the flash bleaching it out) Rear bar is 19.6mm...I was also able to get the front bumper off and clean out the Radiators/AC Condensers. There was a fair amount of junk in there, but no dead animals...
Besides a few pieces of broken plastic and some rusted nuts everything looks pretty good.
Ahsai, thanks for the reply... That's strange because I think the shock/strut/damper has a purple or maroon dot on it. The car definitely didn't come stock with M030 because it's not on the sticker. I'm very happy with the way the car handles as it's very solid, flat through turns, and exhibits none of the "float" that many complain about with the stock suspension. I'm just trying to determine exactly what's on there. I've done quite a bit of searching and haven't been able to anything definitive regarding color codes for a '99 C4 w/manual transmission (I've seen orange and green dots- which these may be, but a bit faded - seems more pink than orange).
Hmmm, anyone else? I did get to measure the front sway bar last night and it came in at 23 mm... M030 ? No green dot that I could see, but I didn't take down all the plastic panels, so it could be under there somewhere? The rear bar (19.5mm) does have the green paint dot on it... I still find it strange that the shock/strut in front has the purple dot on it (would this be stock? maybe they were still good so he just put the springs/sway bars on?)... I'm pretty sure the rears had the green on the struts as well...
These are the OEM springs from my 99 C4 Cabrio. There are green, brown and red dots on the rear spring and white, red and pink dots on the front springs. Might be different as its a cab.. not sure but this is the standard suspension setup before I swapped it out.
I installed H&R springs and sport shocks. The odd part on the H&R's, the front dropped significantly more than the rear. It has a racked look to it. I like it and it drives wonderfully, like it should have from the factory. I also installed the H&R adjustable sways. I found the softest setting on the front and the middle setting on the rear and it's dialed in very, very well. I kept the stock wheels but with the lowering of the suspension, I desperately needed to add spacers to the wheels. I went with RSS 15mm spacers in the rear and 7mm spacers in the front. I think 10mm would have been better in the front but RSS doesn't make that size and 15mm in the front cause my tires to rub.
Sure, I'll grab some later today. The car is under cover in 'winter mode' in one of my garage stalls. Right now the front 7mm spacers are not on it, but the rear 15mm spacers are. (and the tires are pumped up to 50psi so they won't flat spot during the arctic winters here.
It's only -7 degrees today!
Nice! That's not pink?
Good to see it's not "slammed" I'm not very fond of that look but it seems many feel compelled to do it with coil-overs (if it's strictly set up for racing that's a whole other thing). That's a good looking ride height.
I tend to agree with you. I wish it was maybe 5-7mm lower in the rear, but otherwise I am satisfied. If you do opt for a lowering spring setup, you can tell just how badly spacers are needed by looking at the offset on the front wheel. With a 7mm spacer it isn't flush but the margin of inset is drastically reduced. I think the rears are dialed in perfectly with the 15mm spacer. Obviously, thats just my opinion.
I do find myself having to navigate differently with the car this low. Entrances/driveways can be tricky and speed bumps.. forget about it... Otherwise the ride is firmed up, but not harsh at all. There is MUCH less nose diving and the cornering has vastly improved with the spring/sway combination. I believe it was money well spent.
BTW, there is a reflection of my daughter Barbie Jeep in there, and that is pink.. so don't let it skew you
