Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Use metric' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Set (as mtb said, in metric)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Yup, start with that set (as MTB said, in metric) and then spend the rest of your life adding the rest!

That's the same set I purchased 10 years ago for my Nissan projects.

This might cost a little more, but you will be able to use more tools, and when you need those missing in the other "set" you will be buying these "sets" as the sets are cheaper than the individual wrenches...........
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I have rebuilt two 996 Porsches with a similar Craftsman tool set. It is hard to beat their quality for the price. It sounds like a perfect Christmas present.
As it's a European car - you need metric sockets, various torx and hex drivers.
No 'Standard' sockets required - save yourself some $$$ unless you have an American vehicle you'd need them for.
Yup, start with that set (as MTB said, in metric) and then spend the rest of your life adding the rest! Hex, Torx, Torque wrenches all follow along with a Jack (and stands), electronic meter and crimps, variously shaped pliers etc until you have a whole garage full of wonderful tool-toys. Tool aquisition is a slipery slope.... Garage sales are often treasure troves if you have the time. Enjoy and just be glad you do not have a boat (duplicates required for on board work/emergencies)!
That's the same set I purchased 10 years ago for my Nissan projects. As someone else stated, if there's a set that's all metric near the same price and number of pieces go for it. Even with my old nissan I only used metric. Also, you will have to take trips to the store for hex and star sockets. Don't forget to pick up a set of breaker bars and torque wrentch as well. I'd do more work on my 911 if I had a Factory Service Manual like I did for my Nissan.
For the same $$ look at this set. May be more appropriate to your needs.
