This went smoothly and quickly I used the bracket from an old CD changer to mount the V1 as someone else on the forum had done before me. It worked out perfectly I ran the phone cable under the carpet and up the headliner plastic pieces finally along the Headliner near the windshield the Install was a snap I splice into one of the lights in the overhead console for Ignition only power Piece of cake!
Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

I will take pictures I used a "L" shaped metal mount that was included in the old changer in the car. It worked out perfect with hole already drilled and ready to go I then used Velcro to attach the V1 to the mount.

When I installed my B&M shifter I left the console off for a couple of days to test and put the car on the rack and make sure the cables where binding at the transmission.

-At this point I realized my seat belts were not on the seats so I had to pull the Newly installed sport seats out for a second time to install the seat belt female and wiring harness pain in the @ss but again a learning experience.

Oh I also replaced the clear lights for Litronics and replaced the orange turn signals for clear.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was very limited in the time I got to spend with the car as we had family in town for the holiday weekend and it was PAINFUL!!! I had three opportunities to spend some bonding time and I made every excuse to run here or there or anywhere! So what did I do during my time off? Well...
First things first Project #1:
Remove old Seats, followed by remove center console to install B&M SSK...
- Install Short Shift Kit: Simple Install BUT I forgot to mark the cables OOOPS and I even read about the fact B&M forgot that in the insructions!!! So... I had the wonderful opportunity of removing the center console and installing TWICE!!! I could not get the transmission into Reverse, I did not even think to check before reinstalling all of the parts...No biggie I can do it in my sleep now!
-Hardwire V1 w/ AI Mirror... 1 hour job tops!
-At this point I realized my seat belts were not on the seats so I had to pull the Newly installed sport seats out for a second time to install the seat belt female and wiring harness pain in the @ss but again a learning experience.
Done for the day... (actually this was done in two sessions)
Next Project: Oil change, Caliper swap and Bleed
Oil change as many know can't be any easier that was the cleanest oil change EVER not a drip on the garage floor or my body! I always use latex. Better be safe then sorry!
Caliper swap.... Well I got this done in three hours... the first side took a good two hours I did many things that made the install go slow. But the second side went SUPER FAST. I think I can swap these things out in probably 1 1/2 hours now. The Motiv Power Bleeder is one of my favorite tools swaping the OE fluid for super blue was a snap. The pads were 50% but I replaced them anyway I had a full set given to me so Free might as well use them. AHHHH brakes feel sooooo good nice and firm. Oh and the little reds look incredible too! I was a little uneasy lifting the car for the first time but with a little help from some past posts it was pretty easy.
Oh I also replaced the clear lights for Litronics and replaced the orange turn signals for clear.
I noticed one thing on my car what is this?
Next project PSE install... (This weekend!)
Where did you get the seats?
When I installed my B&M shifter I left the console off for a couple of days to test and put the car on the rack and make sure the cables where binding at the transmission.
My next projects are:
Cargraphics diamond mesh grilles
allumnium rings on the instruements
DAS Roll Bar
Headers (maybe)
No worries...I am Eric for future compliments! Yeah I know I should have taken the car out... I drove the car to work and back with flawless shifts I love the upgrade! The sport seats were purchased from a member of 6speedonline.com in the Forsale forum. I picked them up VERY cheap out of a GT2 in flawless condition! I was very lucky.
hey Eric, I remember reading that you will repaint the front gt3 bumper due to scratches.... Dont forget to tell the shop to paint the bumper the right way this time, the way it comes from the factory. That area under the license plate should be black. Or if you are gonna do another diy for the 3rd radiator tell them to pull out that plug. btw good choice on the new gt3 wing, I prefer that to the older, mk1 version.
raffi thanks for the pointers... I did not know about the center duct but now I think about it I know what you mean. Yes I need to get the rubber splitter it is on my list.
SANDOVAL
i too am interested in the v1 install
i did a search but could not find any info on this type of mount
do you have any more details about how you did this
thx
roy
I will take pictures I used a "L" shaped metal mount that was included in the old changer in the car. It worked out perfect with hole already drilled and ready to go I then used Velcro to attach the V1 to the mount. Pretty simple setup... I am using the AI mirror Beastpower was reselling. It is a sweet setup. Everyone that gets into the car asks about it.
These guys have a less expensive version of the AI mirror I think they etch a square instead of the individual arrows and circles. The AI mirror looks stock, looks like it is suposed to be there. They also have a bracet similar to mine.

Yes you can take it off (Velcro) you need the seats up... I am working on a nother solution... But I won't have info on that for a couple weeks... If you have Bose you may be able to mount the detector on the bose Sub box...
Doesnt' the front two seats block the line of sight of the radar. I know that laser detection definately needs line of sight to the radar gun. Im not sure about how much the seats will affect the detection of regular radar. Is there any way to mount the detector on the headliner behind the rear seats? That way, passerbyers can't see it, it is protected from the sun and will probably clear the front seats. The installs look great though. Nice job.
Bob
I plan on tinting the windows to deter theft of the device. Headliner not enough room. the Detector is pretty much centered between the front seats... See picture above it has great line of sight. I am thinink of building a carpeted enclosure that would hide the V1.... and keep it at the same level right behind the seat. with cut outs to provide sight for the recievers.
um...i'm a bit confused here - isn't the V1 facing the wrong way, or do you have the indicators in the mirror reversed? doesn't look that practical to me, but i'm slow...
also - while it looks sweet, i'll admit - i've always wondered about these mirrors. this keeps the display up high where every other driver behind/around you can see it. my thinking is that a concealed display should do just that - conceal - which is accomplished by moving the display down and (usually) closer to the speedometer, etc.
the mirror is is a nifty little gadget, tho. not trying to rain on the parade here, just wondering out loud....
Great stuff. I'm impressed with your DIY abilities. I also would like to put in short shifter. Having dealer install PSE right now and I can't wait to hear it. Are you going to put in electrics on PSE?
First things first... It is backwards. I am playing around with the sensativity of the two reciever sensors. I want to see if they are the same. Both have clear line od sight. I will be tinting windows so the device will be somewhat concealed. The Mirror is just that a cool Gadget BUT it does give the concealed display a real OEM look. I love the mirror it looks much better IMHO then the standard concealed display. I have the concealed display in my 968 and it just did not look right. This is a cleaner look if you know what I mean.
Thanks! for the compliment. Nope I plan on going OPEN... I think the Exhaust on the 996 is pathetic I like to hear my HP! It will be nice to hear a roar behind me very sporty!
