Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Your safest bet for reliability is to skip the turbo and build a 3.8 or 4.0 using these:

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

That's still not a bad price at all for a 3.6L.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I want to turbo my 03 C4. I would like to find a block to machine for iron sleeves and run aftermarket rods, pistons and ecu. What blocks will accept all or most of my 03 3.6 components? Do I need to find a 3.6 or can I start with a 3.4 or even smaller boxster block? Thanks, Kevin

POST 2Original post

don't waste your time, put a 996TT/Mezger'gt1' engine in and call it a day ...and yes I know what this entails,,,

POST 3Original post

I have a 3.4 that I took apart. Pic of the case

POST 4Original post

There is a member here who has swapped a 3.6TT motor into a NA car. It can be done. Apparently adapting the 7.8 ECU wasn't the hard part.

POST 5Original post

Unfortunately there's no real source of this part fits that part. I asked Jake about it. Your safest bet for compatibility is to stick with M96/03 cases. Your safest bet for reliability is to skip the turbo and build a 3.8 or 4.0 using these: https://lnengineering.com/products/w...1997-2008.html When I rebuild mine, I'm going 4.0!

POST 6Original post

Lowpue: is that block even a candidate for a sleeve??

POST 7Original post

i think you are stuck looking for a 3.6. heads changed considerably in 2002 - cams, chains, ecu to work them. it wasn't just a displacement change.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, I just ebay'd an 03 C4 long block with 64k on it for $1100 delivered. Now to decide if I want to buy or machine sleeves and what pistons I want to run.

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 15592063

Actually i don't know for sure but my mechanic said it can be sleeved.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It showed up earlier this week. I'm working on clearing a path to my machining center. I'm pretty sure if I remove the rotary/tilt, I can run the machine in 3 axis only and fit the block halves. I have one of the engineers at work trying to source me some ductile iron and 4032 for the pistons. Kevin @carterperformance

POST 12Original post

Not bad at all for $1100! Did it come with the heads too?

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No heads. Just the short block.

POST 14Original post

That's still not a bad price at all for a 3.6L. If you have any M96 parts you want to get rid of, let me know. I could use some old bolts, even the non-reusable ones.

POST 15Original post

$1100 is an excellent deal if the rotating assembly is in good shape.

@ka67_72 , This has been advertised before on the Houston Craigslist, but just popped back up today: (I have no affiliation) TPC Turbo kit for Porsche 911 996 - $7500 Brand new/never installed kit from TPC. Third radiator kit included. This exact kit sells for $11,500 new from TPC. $7500 obo. Will consider any type of trade. https://houston.craigslist.org/pts/6817870677.html
