Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am sure it helps the outside window seals as it gives time for the window to adjust accordingly.
Leading evidence: 'Adjust accordingly' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Do you want to wipe down the car door or replace a window regulator?

My 5 and 7 year-old sons know to use the door handles on both my cars.

I would tell them Porsche uses lightweight glass to reduce weight and they break easily, so please don't do that.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Do you guys have issues with passengers closing their door with the window and not the door? Every time someone does that to my car I just think to myself; she rides in the bimmer next time.
yes that too and I usually yell 'twice" when someone attempts to open the door. I don't know if it is a myth or not but I have developed a habit of first tugging at the door handle from the inside (or outside) once and then pulling it again.
I am sure it helps the outside window seals as it gives time for the window to adjust accordingly.
MiCkEy
I always instruct newbies on how to close my doors.
People have a habit of slamming doors and it drives me nuts, regardless of which car I'm driving - there's no need for it in ANY modern car. I'm particularly sensitive to it in the p-car due to the window action.
If someone slams my door after I warn them not to, then they don't ride in my car again.
I've never had someone do that... odd.
I would tell them Porsche uses lightweight glass to reduce weight and they break easily, so please don't do that.
The car sits lower than other cars and if the passenger gets out and stands on the curb, she is much higher. Without being conscious of it and bending your knees, the window; not the door, is the hand height as you reach for the car door.
My 5 and 7 year-old sons know to use the door handles on both my cars.
Seems like your passengers should too. Unless they'd lose in an episode of

?
Uhmmm..... the window regulator! Just kidding!
Seriously, I don't see how pushing on the window to close the door would put undue stress in the regulator, but I guess it could do that.. I don't slam the door shut, but rather get the door moving enough for it to close securely.
never thought of it..damn now I have another thing to worry (think) about...I will put a samurai sword in my P and will cut their freakin' heads of next time.....oh wait they can't use my windows...there always down as is my top! PFFFFFF.
The lower right hand corner of the driver's side window ( approx 1" x 1" area) has 99% of my fingerprints so as to not smudge around the door handle when closing the door. I am still working on training myself to "double pump" the door latch when opening the door !
Yeah, I share your thoughts and have no desire to turn into "that guy that worries about his car way too much." If anyone thinks that my closing the door with the bottom part of the window is bad, they don't want to see my 4-year-old crawling all over the interior.
That said, if I break a window regulator, I guess I'm prepared to deal with that. I sure won't lose any sleep over it.
Nothing like trying to close a 60-80 lb door using nearly 2 feet of leverage on a 1/4" piece of tempered glass.
Drives me nuts too, oh wait, I have a window frame now. haha
yes, but only once . . .
Actually, I have more trouble telling passengers not to SLAM the door than I do having them use the window. Need a damper or something
for whatever, my wife just can not remember to be gentle on the doors. At least i got her to be EXTREMELY careful when opening the door after I parked near a curb. She knows she would get the full wrath if she were to scrape the door!
This is my problem too.... I try to be gentle the 1st time it happens.... the 2nd offense usually gets them booted from the car......
There is no reason to slam the door on this car other than not paying attention....... and that's what irritates me the most... but that's another topic for another day...
This has always bothered me. It's not so much the shutting the door with the window, or not having enough time for the window to drop (though they are both issues and peeves), but it's the hard car door slam that drives me mad. Passengers must think that Pcar doors don't close unless you hit them as hard as a strong safety power tackling a running back. I now make it a habit of reminding all passengers to gently close the door rather than slam it. Bloody nuisance though.
Door slamming is habitual problem for some, regardless of the vehicle. It seems some individuals lack the coordination of the "gentle" push close...no matter how many times they are reminded. (just in other cars the risk for damage to window regulators, etc is null)
I try to tell myself to let it be, as I'd much rather they get the door closed on the first try...rather than not getting it closed completed and then proceding to butt-check it closed the rest of the way...before I can stop them! (and leaving a nice ***-dent in the door panel)
