I also had Gerber in Seattle double check the clutch with a test drive as I still couldn't believe Redmond European tried to rip me off.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I'm batting "0 for 1" (maybe even -1 for 1) on my Porsche mechanic selection in the Seattle Eastside area (
see here for more details
, if interested).
I won't be returning to Chris' German Auto.
Any recommendations for other shops?
I need to find someone.
Thanks!
go to:

and ask here.. these are all local guys. Vincent and Bruce from the south side would have ideas that way and and there are a couple guys from the eastside and Seattle area.
sorry about Chris' deal, that sucks.
I am questioning rather I will return knowing that.
I wish I were closer, because I'd definitely take you up on that.
Any other recommendations out there?
I can also try the forum ivangene recommended, but wanted to see if anyone from Rennlist had some good experiences.
I can always try Barrier in Bellevue. I shudder to think what they charge, though, and don't know if they're any good.
at squires be prepared to WAIT .....and WAIT (from what I hear) and his attidude is not friendly BUT he has been working to clean up that reputation over the last year (just my .02 from what I hear on the corner... I live in Bellevue)
Thanks! Looks promising. A smaller, Porsche-focused business looks appealing, as does the "
No scratchs no dings
" on their website
I think I might give them a shot.
I usually go to Redmond European when I can't do it by myself (which is not very often the case
). They are in Redmond and they have quite some experience on Porsche,

.
I had a good experience a year or two ago with Akers Porsche in Seattle, and would go back to them. Car was a 964. They came across as honest and experienced.
+1 on Akers. I’m actually in the market for a 996 right now and have been doing a fair amount of research looking for someone to do a PPI. It seems the two places that keep popping up in the Seattle area are Akers and Squires.
Highly recommend Squires...I've had my PCA Inspection and my AOS replaced when first bought my 996...
I'm trying to get him to carry LN Engineering gear as well...
I've found it's best to just show up when he opens at 7am and schedule an appointment. He's also not open on Fridays but he has a lot of experience with the M96 and I trust him 100%.
Avoid Redmond European if you can...they're not really into the 996 and tried to take me for a new clutch when they failed my PCA Inspection...18 months and 40,000 miles later I'm still on the original clutch...I was really pissed I almost dropped $2000 for no reason.
Squire did a test drive and confirmed there were no issues with the clutch.
I also had Gerber in Seattle double check the clutch with a test drive as I still couldn't believe Redmond European tried to rip me off.

I must still be a little pissed at that experience...
I think Squires are rude and won't give them a cent. I called after buying a second 928 and they said we don't work on 928s and hung up on me. I called right back because I hadn't finished and he proceeded to fail to recommend anyone. How u say specialise in Porsche and draw a line like that is pitiful.
FWIW, I've had Chris's do the last few service visits on my car across several years, including a LNE IMS bearing replacement. I thought they did a good job. I've also had good experience with Barrier. Neither are the cheapest. Both seem to do good work. Haven't had any problems with either, so can't say how they act when there is one.
Yet, I can imagine that if Chris believed the damage didn't happen in the shop, he'd refer you to your insurance company.
