Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I Replaced/Refinished my door cards last night, I bought few months ago nicer ones from a Full leather interior car, but I had to change lower carpet on them to match my deviating Metropol Blue carpet.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Easiest way I've found to remove the soft touch surface is with 3M ScotchBrite ( red/ then grey grit) using Lacquer thinner , but you better not have it near the interior or paint.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My soft touch interior Graphite Grey pieces have been showing some marks and wear. I felt the interior needed some contrast, so I refinished in Arctic Silver L39 (matches my Console color)
For refinish DIY:
Easiest way I've found to remove the soft touch surface is with 3M ScotchBrite ( red/ then grey grit) using Lacquer thinner , but you better not have it near the interior or paint.
Once surface is clean remove any remaining residual, then use some enamel reducer or prep sol before shooting them with SEM Plastic Prep surfacer/primer.
Spray a couple of thin coats w/15 min. flash between coats. After finish coat let last coat dry 30-40 minutes.
Lightly Block sand w 400/600 grit, before color coat.
Spray with color coat (U can get at local Auto paint house in spray can mixed to your color requirement (I used Artic Silver 92U here, personally like it better than AlumaLook (code L4W9 or ALU-03)
again, Spray 2-3 thin coats, let it flash 15 minutes between coats. It's dust free in minutes, but don't touch.
After final color coat ,Let dry for 30-35 minutes (dull appearance) then apply 2-3 Clear coats ( 1 K type paint) letting it flash 10-12 minutes between. Again dust free in minutes, Don't touch.
Let it dry overnight. Color sand with 1000 grit. Hand polish or machine polish with compound to get glossy /smooth finish.
Spray can paint/clear/primer is way cheaper approx. $50.00, than getting a pint of color and quart of clear for my gun , plus all reducers and such that are needed.
Instrument binnacle is my old vinyl one, since replaced with leather along with console side panels and lid cover.
Above pic in install, waiting for new leather door cards to be re-carpeted to match.
Thinking of re-doing belts, black looks plain, I'm trying to decide on color. Orange ?

No center console out of my Boxster S, it was Arctic Silver like these pieces.
I say the Midnight Blue console color would kind of get lost in interior (I have Blue deviating carpet ) in my opinion but one member has it and looks good I think just a dark picture maybe. I'm over the soft touch, whether Grey, black.
Finished this last week, got busy though I said I would share when complete.
Instrument Binnacle and horseshoe refinished in Arctic Silver
as usual Lighter gave me fits..
I bid on steering wheel like yours on ebay last week, it was cracking in spots, After I was outbid, I quit on it knowing it would cost as much to fix as it cost.
But looked good though!
I have the same color interior and it needs to be painted so this was timely. The exterior is Artic Silver so I'm thinking to use a higher contrasting color, I'm afraid silver will look like gray. Thinking about something in the red spectrum, maybe a maroon. Need to do some color matching. Anyone do that?
The pieces are easy to refinish once they are prepped for paint.
If you thinking something in the red shade, I'd consider Carmine Red, an optional Red metallic in some years 996.
Easy to produce in spray cans for this.
Artic Silver L39 on Instrument Binnacle, Horseshoe, console. Leatherette on console, Lid and upper console are replaced w Graphite Grey leather. Instrument cover from full leather car. e-Brake part of silver package. Factory Gauge faces. Winter uplift 18
A friend who had a Carmine Red Cayman suggested that color as well. Wish he still had it so I can look at it again. That's an uncommon but very nice color. Might be best to stay with an original color.
Nice idea about painting the binnacle around the gauges for more color. The gray is nice but there's too much of it,
Thank you, I love the look of his Carbon, It gives great contrast inside. Very purposeful look.

What a royal pain to remove old carpet, but they came out great. Pic's to follow.
