I borrowed my mechanic's 325i (87) with no cat(very weird feeling up with leaded octane 118 and using a funnel to feed the car) and was grouped as a beginner so having an instructor was a definite help on knowing the lines/braking points.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi there and good day to all!!! Being at first timer at Sear's Point(gone with NASA before at Thunderhill- pretty well organized for amount of races going on mixed with us DE guys) it was a blast. I borrowed my mechanic's 325i (87) with no cat(very weird feeling up with leaded octane 118 and using a funnel to feed the car) and was grouped as a beginner so having an instructor was a definite help on knowing the lines/braking points. First session was more of a feeler so it was abit slow but I'm a fast learner : ) so 2nd session was a real blast. It's a truly technical coarse way more rewarding if done right. The hardest IMO is turn 3 going up the hill making a quick turn to left then an immediate right(blind spot)- pretty much braked prior to last turn(does anyone can offer advice on negotiating thru that?). Going thru the carousel was way fun downhill and 2/3s of the way go full throttle to the flat part as the car just powerslides to the right(thankgod it's wide enough at the flat part to do that). Pretty amazing downshifting from 4th to 2nd(really need heel/toe) on turn 4 and turn 7/11(I believe) and going thru the esses thru 8-10 is a hoot. I love this track-next time I'm using my 996 since the 325i was a feeler. They had alot of races out there with likes of the Porsche Racing Club/ Bimmer Club etc. -amazing to watch them go at it-alot of eye candy : ). Regards. Mike
