I am a new owned of an 02 Targa. Absolutely love the car. More or less a convertible with amazing rigidity. I was reading over some of the previous posts and some stated that the engine was going to be overhauled for 03. Possibly 3.8 L and 350 HP. Is this accuarate or just a myth? I was under the impression that the 02 was a total overhaul. Also, I read about an X51 option. I've heard of the Turbo X50, but now there is something for the 996? When does the 996 take on a new body/facelift. My dealer was predicting 2005 or later. Anybody have and information on the above? Just curios. I will post some picks if I can figure out how to upload. Thanks a lot. I look forward to much activity on this forum!

No factual info on an '03 hp boost, but you might expect some minor cosmetics after August factory shutdown and production resumes in September. Next expected model change has been rumored for an '05 model, maybe intro'd in late '04 calendar year. The only way to know is to wait it out (I am) and see what comes in July/September timeframe. PCNA and PAG will surely announce just prior to '03 units arrival in various countries. X51 is similar package to the earlier X50 and will be available for '03. I believe it will be available but possibly limited and will offer substantial hp increase to Carrera Coupe models.
