They sent the rings with Super Glue which I stuck in a drawer and used the 3M double sided tape, Worked great.

I used silicone on mine and the only thing I had to do differently was to hold them in place for a couple of minutes while the material set up.

I used some silicone adhesive, but tape also works.

I used to use Brandywine in the beginning but got tired of the runaround and a few other instances that I will not disclose here b/c I have no intent on bashing them with specifics (but let's just say their business practices aren't as good as others).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've been watching a couple of items on Ebay....one is an Arctic Silver Rear Console, and the other is a Seal Grey Rear Console.....one of the sellers is
Ruf-gt2
, the other is
Bigtime 381
. The winner of one, and the leading bidder of the other are both
larrygt2
.
Does this sound like the same guy is selling, and bidding up the price of his merchandise?
Pretty fishy to me
Why does it sound fishy? Simple. To bolster his numbers since he is a SCAM-ARTIST. This guy has been talked about all over the boards here with tales of people getting burned for everything from a few bucks to thousands! His "main" screen ID is........
dendoonelhilwa............
but has many aliases...those of which you have named (and many more). He either wins some of his own auctions to increase feedback...that is private by the way so you can't tell or he bids up the items so you overpay for his junk.
Run Richard, as far as you can from this guy. If you are interested in a painted rear center, call Eric at bumperplugs.
Capitalism at it's worst!
There should be NO private auctions and ebay should monitor IP addresses thru some kind of software mod. In the end it's buyer beware...just like everything else in this country.
Yup, so true Don. BTW, you are quite the night owl this evening
What amazes me about this guy on eBay is that people keep buying his junk. There was a recent thread here talking about his stuff and how it looks like it was painted in his basement. But according to some "worth it" for the "deal" they got. Why some will risk their cash with this guy and as well put 2nd rate crap in a 1st rate car. Such sacrilege!
Dendoonywotsits is now selling in English pounds on the UK version of ebay. He's probably fed up screwing his own countrymen and now taking on the Brits.
Sadly, there seem to be quite a few ready to part with their spondoolicks, thinking that they are getting something on the cheap.
My own purchases on ebay lead me to believe that there are a lot of 996s out their minus valve caps and embossed wheel trims. The set I bought were "new"...... but weren't unless they were run in by somebody else.
If do do head wins his own auction, he will email you with a second chance offer at your previous bid. I had a very bad experience with him. However he did refund all of my money after I complained to ebay. He then reported me as a non-payer! Stay away!!! STAY AWAY!!!
p.s. I purchased AS console with ashtray and brake cover for $375 from Suncoast.
So true Jeff. I as well purchased my AS silver console for less than $400 and it was a Genuine Porsche item! Some people just don't do the research. BTW, I bought mine from Sunset in Oregon.
Both great places. I do ALL of my business now with those 2 dealers. I used to use Brandywine in the beginning but got tired of the runaround and a few other instances that I will not disclose here b/c I have no intent on bashing them with specifics (but let's just say their business practices aren't as good as others).
Plus you can't beat Sunset or Suncoast's prices (99% of the time).
I have purchased from Brandywine. In fact I just purchased aluminum gauge rings for $104. My experience is always great except for 1 thing. I purchase from Brandywine on Ebay and they are not very good at leaving feedback. Not the most important issue but it bothers me.
Their best deals are now on eBay and in Excellence (see the following thread about why:
http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/s...threadid=25747
) that way you get the price IN WRITING.
As for their feedback, it is hit and miss. I have bought from them before and I think I got feeback relataively quickly.
I have also bought from Brandywine and have been happy. So much easier than a trip to the dealer. I was considering the alum guage trim rings. Do they have a clean look when installed?
Thanks,
Kris
Krisd, I just bought the ALuminum Gauge Rings from Brandywine and they have a nice look although I had to manipulate them a little to make them fit right. They sent the rings with Super Glue which I stuck in a drawer and used the 3M double sided tape, Worked great.
In general, I have had good luck with both Brandywine and Sunset in Florida; good people, great prices and fast shipping across the board.
i think brandywine's gauge ring are lower quality than true oem supplier for boxter s porsche rings. however, they still look good and i didn't have problem putting them on. it just looks a little coarse on the edges, which are not noticible once installed.
Just one reminder: when installing the gauge rings, DO NOT use the supplied crazy glue: it messes up your instruments most of the time. I used some silicone adhesive, but tape also works.
I used silicone on mine and the only thing I had to do differently was to hold them in place for a couple of minutes while the material set up. My set is a couple of years old so maybe there isn't as much "play" in the rings now.... and it really doesn't take much either.
This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
