For us it was the wing and the side skirts that we liked the look of and the rear bits were just part of the package.

Suggestion

I wouldn't expect Porsche to do something like that just for the look even if its effect won't be used by most drivers.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I looked but couldn't find it other than someone mentioned maybe manufactured by TechArt, but couldn't find them neither. I don't mind replica version at all, someone direct me to the url where I can find them? Thanks in advance!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

awesome! it's even oem porsche parts thanks again!

POST 4Original post

OMG, you guys cant be serious. That looks awful, unless its just the angle.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's what I thought too, but 'til I saw one in real, they looked awesome!

POST 9Original post

That's the optional smoke screen doors right? Hit the switch and oil is sprayed on the exhaust and road laying a slick and smoke screen right? The panels pressing out into the wind helf waff the smoke to both sides getting better coverage.

POST 10Original post

I agree with Krazy K. It looks like a bodykit that goes on a honda. Its too bulky then again its just me.

POST 11Original post

I'm a fan of aero kits but can't seem to embrace this one. Other than the look is there some sort of aerodynamic value it brings?

POST 12Original post

when I had my car I thought about those - i originally thought OMG those look awful but I have grown to really like them and they are not something you see everyday - however I have seen 2 of them in the last week I really like them AS LONG as you have the whole set up (front, sides, tail) and they are functional from what I have read

POST 13Original post

There's local guy selling oem ones for almost half of brand new. Fwiw, it took me forever to find some OEM ones when I was looking. I too think they look somewhat ugly and "slapped together" somewhat. However, I do think it "completes" the factory aero kit and balances out the height of the rear bumper with the rest of the body. Thought about putting the GT3tek rear apron back there but the rear sides don't match the smoother lines of the oem gt3 sideskirts. My $.02

POST 14Original post

Took factory delivery and was surprised at this aerokit addition. Explaination was that it reduced the Cd.

Hmmm, dunno about that but I really do hope it's true. For the little pieces they are, they are quite heavy. They pretty much offset the weight savings of the aftermarket mufflers I put on. The ONE thing Porsche REALLY messed up on with this piece is the alignment of the rear gt trim piece to the indented line on the bumper. the top of the gt trim doesn't cover up or even run in parallel to the factory indent line in the factory bumper. That to me is a no no from a manufacturer like Porsche.

HOLY KRAP...that looks just like my car .....well maybe because it is. Seller of the car told me all the aero pieces (front lip, side skirts, rear bumperettes and wing) were by Techart but I had no way of verifying Ah yes......thank you, dear sir

POST 18Original post

My 944 Turbo and 996 with aerokit - both have the same-ish ground effect in the rear.

POST 19Original post

Purpose is to cause more drag???? Cosmetic I suppose but I dont know how you could mess up the OE Porsche rearend design.

POST 20Original post

Makes the car look bulky. None of those paices improve on the original look.

Parts are not made by Techart. I have the full kit on my car and it is from the factory, part of the Exclusive Option (Aerokit, Rear GT Fins).

I'm no fan of wings on the cabs (well I'm not a fan of the cabs as they look like they have a fat ***), but the lower bits were part of the "original look" from the factory if you got the aerokit option. We got the full taco wing kit an it came with the lower rear spoilers. Don't know what they are supposed to do functionally, but after 12 years I think 996s without them look kinda silly.

POST 24Original post

Just because it was a factory option, it doesn't make it part of the original look. Option = add on.

good info, thanks.

POST 26Original post

I'm just giving him the correct info. I know what option means.

POST 27Original post

IMHO, the rear pieces look too much like an "add-on" or "after-thought" part. It does not seem to blend well with the body, especially if viewed from the rear. What possible aerodynamic benefit could the rear piece be? Im sure its not enough to matter but what is the selling point of this "option"?

POST 28Original post

I wouldn't expect Porsche to do something like that just for the look even if its effect won't be used by most drivers. For us it was the wing and the side skirts that we liked the look of and the rear bits were just part of the package.

POST 31Original post
