I decided to take my car to Pfaff Autoworks - apparently it's the only "Porsche approved" repair facility in Ontario.

I can't help with a body repair shop, but I did want to say I'm glad you and your GF are OK!

The drunk driver is at fault and will be charged criminally...I was surprised to find out that i could potentialy be held at fault in the eyes of my insurance company if they prove that i made an unsafe lane change while trying to avoid the head on collision!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was having a great weekend until getting involved in a major accident caused by a drunk driver on the Gardiner Expressway. I very narrowly avoided a head on collision...i managed to make a lane change in last moment and unfortunately i was hit from the side by another vehicle. The damage looks mostly cosmetic...passenger side of care has several large scraps from back tire to the front, rocker panels in dented and both rims are damaged! Most importantly my girlfriend and i made it through the situation virtually unharmed.
Any recommendation for body shop in the GTA? Will the dealer be be able to tell me with 100% certainly whether anything was affected structurally?? My biggest concern is resale value - is there anyway i can be compensation by the insurance company this this?? Has anyone had a similar experience...any advice would be appreciated - thanks!
Sheyne
Were they able to find and arrest the drunk driver? I beleve driving drunk in Canada is more serious than here... at least that's what I remember visiting friends in Toronto.
Like you said, no one was hurt and the car can always be fixed. I've heard of getting diminished resalse value as part of the insurance, not sure how it works.
I'm glad you're okay. Definitely post to the Canada forum. You could also try a search there, because I recall that someone else was recently looking for a shop and got some good suggestions.
I do business with an indy shop that has a deep specialization in Porsches, and they do body work. They're in Concord. Happy to add their name to the list if you don't get a good reference on someone more convenient.
Hate that stretch of road. I read once that the Gardiner QEW, especially west of the 427, is the least policed road in the country because the cops think it's unsafe to pull cars over along there. Sometimes that's fun. But you also never know what you're going to run into...
Thanks for the comments guys! The drunk driver sped away after hitting at least three cars...his tire was badly damaged so there was a huge plum of smoke coming from his vehicles... he didn't get more that a few kilometers before a police officer caught up with him! I decided to take my car to Pfaff Autoworks - apparently it's the only "Porsche approved" repair facility in Ontario.

Hopefully things work out in my favor...
I tried to attached a photo ( it's not pretty!)...apparently photos need be be less than 146.9 KB? That seems very small...any suggestions?
Sheyne,
Gibson Vander is probably the *best* place in TO to get your car painted... Frank does awesome work.... they do lambhorgini's, ferrari's and Porsche farms aout a lot of of their cars out to Frank... anybody who wants a new car paint job that will last and look like showroom condition goes to Gibson Vander... they did a fantastic job on my carrera and it still looks amazing 4 years later... they are not cheap but their work is top notch...
as for your question regarding depreciation because of an accident and if you can sue for that... the answer is no... in the USA you can... but not here.
I don't know about Pfaff autowerks or porsche "authorized" paint centers... sounds like BS to me....
in any case I would take pictures of your car so you can show future drivers the extent of the damage... if you don't have these pics on hand people will be wondering how serious the damage was.....
Oh, heaven forbid you should move to avoid a head on collision! If that happens with the insurance company may the bird of fortune **** down their throats.
Pfaff autoworks is a great place, good guys and great work. They have done some work for me in the past...I was 100% happy. I am glad you and your passenger are OK, after all we can replace our cars...I hope the nail the DD.
