Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
i think that your biggest problem is the residual, but that might be reality.
Leading evidence: 'residual' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'residual' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check various dealer's inventories' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
your best bet is to check various dealer's inventories on the net and find a dealer with several c4s'-that is where your best deal might happen.

Suggestion
- does the residual match (or exceed) that predicted by ALG (I think that is the org that seems to set the most widely agreed upon numbers).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

$1210w/ (CA tax) x 48 months
3 things to consider:
- is the cost of money in the lease competitive?
- is the capitalized cost the same as you could negotiate to buy the car for?
- does the residual match (or exceed) that predicted by ALG (I think that is the org that seems to set the most widely agreed upon numbers).

used to be a good resource for all that lease discussion (though I haven't been there for a while).
it seems like you have been waiting for a long time. If you can wait I'm sure there are dealers who can work with you. If you can be in Boston in June you can talk to Alfie @ IRA near boston, although you will have to drive it back across the country. I know that Legend auto in NJ also has a lot of C4S's in stock. maybe yopu can get a dealer trade
Doesn't seem you are getting any discount off of sticker... You should certainly get 2-3K off.
Are you ordering this car, or do they have it on the lot? You will get a better discount for a car that is on the lot.
I generally would not pay the tax upfront on a lease... yes your monthly will be a little higher, however, with a lease if something should happen to the car you will lose anything out of pocket (stolen, totalled).
Rob
I was looking at a C4SCab at around $100k list getting a $3k discount.
Lease figures were $1170 incl tax x 48 -
leasing $90k with a 57% residual($51.3k).
Sounds high to me. I was looking at a new lightly optioned TT last Spring. Discounted price was around 110K. My best lease with no money down was in the high 1200 per month range, including sales tax.
Sticker price was 94k and dealer is giving me 4k off sticker!
All lic, tax, fees & shipping are incl.
Totall out of pocket $1210 which is 1st month payment! If still sound kinda high to you guys, what # consider good deal?
caf: I got 2 quotes from leasecompare and payment came out to be 1170+tax and lic, tax & 1st month payment out of the pocket.
fanton: Your lease figures were on cab or coupe?
hke46-i don't think that it is a terrible lease. i just think that payment should be on a 39 month lease. it all depends though on the current residual and money factor. if the residual is weak, then maybe 48 months is the appropriate term. what everyone else was quoted months ago has no relavance to now-i.e. compare tt leasing rates one year ago to now-probably at least $400/month different.
that's the issue, hke. the residual is kind of week, a less then 50% residual. did you ask them the rates for 39 months-it might be more to your liking. i think that the banks are becoming more conservative on their residuals, due to the bad resale market. if you can't do better at 39 months, and i assume that your salesperson has shopped leasing companies for the best resid/money factor, then the only way that you will do better is to decrease your sales price-that will take your monthly payment down around $20 per thousand. good luck. i still don't think that you have a terrible deal, it's just not a great one.
My lease was on a cab , but lease figures were based on $90k.
Your purchase price is good and your lease seems figures seem OK.
I will email you the name of my contact - I have leased a C2 with them
and they are great to work with.
Fantod: How $$$ did you paid up front? Was it from a local dealership?
doc: Do you think 4k off sticker seems kinda low for C4s, should I ask for more?
I would have had to put $5k down to lease at $90k .
I decided against the C4S and I have a TT Cab on order.
I was getting $3k off sticker so I think $4k you are getting is great.
It appears your lease has a lower residual 46% vs 57%.
HKE-it seems to me that fantod put down 7k. he says that the car listed for 100k, and he got 3k off. if that's the case, his cap cost (amount leased) should be 97k. if he in fact leased 90k, then he had to have put down 7k. in addition, the residual is calculated from the msrp, not the cap cost. basicaly, the discount that they are giving you is fair-you might be able to get more off, but probably not much more. if you get another 2k off, you will save about $40/month on the lease. i think that your biggest problem is the residual, but that might be reality. i would make sure that they have tried to get you the lease from the company with the best numbers.
doc: My sales guy told me the reason why the # seems kinda high is because I only have to come up with first payment which is 1210. If I put down 5k, the payment would be like 1153. Hmm, if he willing to do 20 more dollars off, most likely I will do it.
Btw, I've seen 8-16k off on C2, C2cab & Targa. Why wouldn't the dealer give the same amount of discount on the C4s?
HKE-the 10k discounts off of c2's (coupe and cabs) are almost invariably 03's. the discounts off of targas are because they are a bitch to sell-many people don't want them, not to say that they aren't good. the dealers aren't going to routinely sell cars under their invoice. if they did, they would go out of business. i am not saying that you couldn't get a bigger discount-if you search more dealers over a bigger geographical area, you probably can find a dealer with a c4s who wants tol move it, with a greater sense of urgency then your dealer. that dealer would probably do a lot better for you. you might have to travel a bit further, etc, but you might get a much better deal. in fact, if you talk to 5 people who bought similar cars at similar times, you will find a whole range of monthly payments, for different reasons. your best bet is to check various dealer's inventories on the net and find a dealer with several c4s'-that is where your best deal might happen.
HKE-one more thing. i don't think that your present deal is bad. i would tell your dealer that your monthly payment (tax included) and the only inceptions up front payment is okay, but you want the term to be 39 months.
I tried couple dealership in the nation for the past month, found couple of a used one for 1250x39 but with 5k down (with shipping) , my local dealer want 1400x48 + 2k down. US Bank offer really high# for 39 months. If thats the case, I might just ask more discount on this vehicle.
HKE-you certainly can't go wrong looking for more discount. give it a whirl. it depends on how aggresive that dealer is to move the car. see what happens.
