Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My guess is that a brand new set for $500 are the amber ones...

Maybe they are missing the ballast or something, but in that case I can just use my existing parts, right?

It kind of looks like you are wanting to use the stock light bulbs with a litronic system?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Is it possible to purchase non litronic headlights and plug in the litronics set up? Is it plug and play, or do I have to hack it and remove the lens, in order to put a new lens on my litronics set?
Well there is a guy selling a brand new pair not sure if they are litronic or not for $500 So I was wondering if I could get a brand spanking new set of lenses got $500.
It kind of looks like you are wanting to use the stock light bulbs with a litronic system? If the plugs match and the amperage is lower you should be able to do it easy. Going to higher amped bulbs you would have to worry about the relays not handling the extra amps and the bulbs heat.....but if you are going to the normal bulbs I'd think things would be cooler so no problems unless the connectors don't match. I can't imagine the lights assembly that slides in being much different but the connectors for the bulbs might be.
well there is a way to do this... the biggest reason to get new lights is the outter lens (road rashed) needs replacing. My guess is that a brand new set for $500 are the amber ones... BUT if not, thats a GREAT DEAL... so... if they are Lits, its like the deal of the decade and you can plug and play... if not (and you want to keep your lits, which who wouldn't) and get his new outter lens... you CAN remove the outter lens by baking the headlights on low heat in the oven for about 10 minutes (its a bake and check and keep baking operation.... till the lens comes off) once the lens are off all four headlights you simply re-glue the new lens on your old lights.... then your old lens on the new lights and sell them for $500 in about 3 minutes !
all this works as long as the new ones are NOT amber outter lens
there is a HID conversion kit with new HID bulbs that you mod into your existing system; can be done with the right knowledge in order not to roast your stock wires. Ebay.....
Ivangene, is this an easy process? Does it screw up the seal of the lights, will they get fogged up after in the rain or when washed? By amber, do you mean like the outside boxster style? Cause the guy showed me a picture and they will need an amberectomy, does that mean these are nit a good deal? But the Guy is telling me that they are not the halogen
He bought them for $1150 a piece, does that sound like they are brand new litronics? Maybe they are missing the ballast or something, but in that case I can just use my existing parts, right? Are there any roadblocks I could come into or should check out before I buy them, they were purchased for a 2000 and I have a 2001
I have not done it but there is a growning number of young kids doing it for another reason.... they are painting inside the headlights and making them look really sharp. I believe any leaks of water would be determained by how well YOU put them back together (believe they are glue/silicone them)
as for the price, they might be Lit's not sure.... you can send me a pic... my RL ID @msn dot com
as for adding HID kits to non Lit lights.... its not the wires you need to worry about, the hotter bulbs will melt the inner lens and turn it a bueatiful amber color
as for the boxster yellow -vs- amberectomy...the boxster ones cannot have the amber removed... only covered.
Hope this is helpful
