Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I purchased a hardtop on ebay before I realized that there are 2 different types of mounting hardware. The hardtop is 2.5 hours away so before I drive from Long Island to Philly, I wanted to check. Here are pictures of my receivers and below is the hardtop. What do you think? my receiver ebay hardtop 1 ebay hardtop 2

POST 2Original post

This is the mount from my 2004 C4S. This is the bayonet style that came with most 996 cars.

POST 3Original post

What year is your car? Are the hard top mounts original? I think all the 996.1 had the bayonet style mounts like in the pic posted in the second post and it looks like yours are the same. Need a better pic of the mount to be sure.

POST 4Original post

My mounts were not installed from the factory. They came off of a 996 though. Here are the part numbers 996.561.655.01 and 996.561.656.01. Here is a link to what they look like. https://www.porschepartsused.co.uk/1...rrbgatin8t85i7

POST 5Original post

Check out this thread for more pictures. I can't tell if your mounts are wrong. https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...-question.html

POST 6Original post

I think the hardtop mounts look wrong on the eBay pictures

POST 7Original post

Take a picture of your Passenger Side mount. If it has slots in it, then you need the bayonet mounts like are on my top or you need to change your mounts. Changing the mounts isn't hard, and the newer 997 screw in mounts are actually better.

POST 8Original post

I agree that those mounts on the hardtop are not the ones you need.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I agree 99% I don't have the correct mounts. I'm ordering the retrofit kit out of The Netherlands - https://www.parts-wise.com/000043300...h-pins/p38901/ hopefully this will solve the problem.

POST 11Original post

The ebay hardtop has the older screw in ones. Where are you my top is for sale? I don't want to sell my car but I lots of parts I need to sell to keep me under a roof in these covid times

Older screw in ones? I thought the screw in type is the newer style? I'm so confused. All I know is my car is a 2003 and I have the receiver for one of the bayonet types. I'm in the Lynbrook area.

POST 13Original post

The picture I showed is a bayonet that twists in it twists 90 degrees and then a little snap it locks in. The older ones like in your ebay pic is kind of a screw with a spiral. Lynbrook what state Old on left new on right

Lynbrook is Long Island, Near JFK airport. So I have connector A. What's the part # for receiver B? Do you have it to pull off a car?

POST 15Original post

https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/PK997HTM.html These are not pictures of left and right these are pics of the different type of mounts Left and right mounts are a tiny bit different. Left has the electrical connection for the defroster on the hardtop

I've seen those #s listed on many threads but I don't think they are what I'm looking for. I'm trying to get my friend in The Netherlands to order this for me https://www.parts-wise.com/000043300...h-pins/p38901/ I think it will cover my needs. Thanks for your help.

POST 19Original post

Old is the bayonet type on right, new is the more secure screw version on the left.
