Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm speaking with the GHL guys about this, and they're supposed to be sending me a new pair of tips, but I'd figure I'd ask the community anyway. Recently I purchased a GHL exhaust package for my 2000 996 C2. The right tip is 1/4-1/2" more recessed than the left tip (and slightly crooked). I measured and it seems the tips are the problem (not the muffler mounting), but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and what the resolution was. A friend and I installed the mufflers and I don't think there was a lot of adjustment available for "moving" the muffler cans back, but I could be wrong. Other than the tip issue, I'm very happy with the exhaust package. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

I'm not sure about the after-market mufflers, but there is virtually no adjustment available to move the stock mufflers. It might be that GHL sent you a mis-matched pair of tips.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Tim... that's what I'm thinking (and hoping).

POST 4Original post

When I had GHL's, I used the stock tips. There is ton's of adjustment in the stock tips. All you do is loosen 1 screw and you can move it all over the place. Did you look at all at the tips for an adjustment screw? It that doesn't help, there is a clamped section just a short distance from the tips and when you loosen that, you have tons of adjustability. In short, you're friend doesn't know what he's doing...

POST 5Original post

It can be a pain in the *** but as PorschePRH says, just loosen the bolts on the pipe coming out of the muffler and it can be moved all over the place. Have your friend assist you so the tips are centered in the openings and stick out the same distance. You'll be happy with the results.

POST 6Original post

Looks like I have the same problem, my dealership called earlier to tell me the same thing. Now I have one Stock tip and one GHL tip on.
