The boot contains 2 custom fitted leather suitcases....these are very high quality heavy expensive cases I was very surprised at their quality.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Picked up the car today, overall the whole package is superb.....this is a real looker the gt metallic silver is really nice and those wheels are the biz, walk into a showroom and this is the car you will be looking at. Everbody was staring at it in the showroom.
The interior is very good...I say good not great cos the metallic silver effect centre console is varnished and will scratch easily still I suppose it's the same with the wood finish, the natural leather is fine and it has been taken again from the gt car it is mixed with a lattice type leather on both the steering wheel and seats which is unique for this 911. I went for a full option list with electric front seats...the sports seats are too narrow for me.
This car is veeeery faaaast..... forget the extra 25bhp I have not gone over 5000 rpm and the difference is still noticible, I reckon it must be 35-40 bhp gain and it is noticible in the low rev range so that torque graph that Porsche produces aint correct as interestingly alot of x51 owners keep saying...YOU ARE RIGHT GUYS believe me.

I'm biased but if anyone sees the anniversary car they will realise that this is a lovely peice of kit quite befitting the 40th anniversary car

I was not impressed with the Leather mesh on the seats and the shift boot... Also the wheel finish did not look good. Overall I liked the car...What are these suitcases for? (traveling suitcases?) It is a loaded car with lots of great options! Congrats.
Moogle
why not a GT3 or a C4S,
sorry
not to start a war, but
there is only person that has to be happy with this purchase
guess who that is
it is a beautiful car
everyone on this list has their own reasons for purchase
now if your going to assist in the payments then yeah we can agree on a particular vehicle
as they say if you have nothing nice to say then..........
"forget the extra 25bhp I have not gone over 5000 rpm and the difference is still noticible, I reckon it must be 35-40 bhp gain"
so you're telling us that you can "feel" a 10 to 15 hp (at the motor) difference (ie: from 25 to 35/40) without even having gone above 5k where the porsche published dyno makes clear the power STARTS to build?

No I'm saying that there is a noticible difference at lower revs and as porsche say there ain't any difference till higher revs this indicates to me that the power increase is probably more than the 25 bhp which porsche says occurs after 5000rpm...which is exactly what most x51 users know to be the case....maybe I'm wrong but even the sales guy who only took it for a low rev spin said 'that it definately felt more torquey' and he has spent the last few years driving hundreds of c2 and c4's without the x51 kit.

Anyone else see these seat inserts? I posted the other day when I saw them (liked the overall car, but not the seats or wheels). It appears to look and feel like perforated plastic, not leather.
I have perf'd leather on my S500 Benz...very soft, very high quality leather. This felt very different. Might be fine, just did not seem right on a car in that price range.
so you think Porsche somehow produced an intentionally misleading dyno for the X51 which understated it's power? it couldn't have been an accident as i'm sure they've dynoed more than one of them! any idea why they'd do that? wouldn't they sell more X51 packages if they marketed a higher performance - if it is higher?
Heh-heh-heh. C'mon. guys. Take it easy. The guy just laid down heavy cash to get the car, and is completely enamored with it. The car's faster than a speeding bullet and stronger than a locomotive. He'll wake up soon enough.
How about those pics?
The car is nice ...but checkout experienced P owners views the general consensus of opinion is that the x51 does produce punch at lower revs and Porsche says it should not. I've driven it and it definately does..anyway enough of this were getting of the topic I will post some more pics of the fitted luggage and interior when the sun riseth and yes Benj in Lj If everyone new the extent of the bhp increase there would be less turbos and GT3's sold so Porsche purposely quote it lower than it is They do an awful lot of work and upgrade to produce the x51 package for just 25bhp!!
Straight forward chipping gives 20bhp

When I inquired about the anniversary edition with my dealer... the sales rep informed me that the car had 364 hp... I asked if anything in addition to the X51 HP was added and he said no... I then pointed out that a 996 with X51 = 345 hp... the rep still insited that the special edition cranked out 364 HP... this was in Toronto, Downtowon fine cars... interesting eh?
donny, possibly cannabilizing GT3 and TT sales is a good reason for Porsche to intentionally mislead us. however, given an X51 equipped C2 (or C4) produces much more profit for Porsche than does a GT3, it would probably more apply to hurting turbo sales (their most profitable model).
The car looks beautiful. I don't know if its just me, but doesn't it look like its sitting quite bit lower than your average M030 vehicle? Look at the basically non-existent wheel gap on the front wheels. Perhaps its just me, but I don't remember seeing such little wheel gap on my M030 C2.
Donny, to follow up on the ride height question, it does look a bit lower than the typical US spec car. Are they equipping these with ROW parts??
For reference my ROW 030 C2 sits at 26" all around, measured at the center of the fenderwell.
Did you get the PSE too?
Are the wheels chromed or just more polished? It's hard to tell from the pics. I'm curious to see some pics of the seating inserts and luggage bags.
Ride height looks RoW 030 or lower... you must not be in the good 'ole US.
Now get in and go for a SPIN!
They are using a process called Vacume metal coating... The finish they used looks like a dull chrome almost aluminum looking...Up close it looks like orange peeled silver paint. I thought the wheels looked horrible.
Sandoval...
Orange peel silver paint? What's the deal with that? Very hard to see anything in the pics... It must be a coating process on the original cast 18's.
Hey C70Pete, with respect to your comments above about DFC claiming 364 HP out of the 40th 911, I would have to say that they are speaking directly out of their asses. I don't believe a word most of those ***-clowns say. Why the hell do they have to vary from the truth? As if anyone actually considering plunking down $138k Canadian for this car is going to hesitate simply because it has "only 345 HP". Did they tell you that it has special gearing that makes it accelerate faster than a GT2 for half the money as well? I'll bet they can order the car for you in green too. Sorry, I hate when we, consumers, know more than people who sell to us.
Sorry for the rant guys.
The fact that they lie is upsetting. The fact that most of us know more than they do is pathetic. I hate giving my money (hard-earned, my wife isn't rich like I thought she was) to someone who can't be bothered to be the expert in their field or even worse, lie about stuff.
Once you drive a porsche, your not going back.. and they know it %100.
All my friends complain about how their turbo's should be 500HP and not 420 or whatever they are... bottom line = your getting in line for the next model... cause their IS NO SUBSTITUTE hehe... they gotcha!
cheers
Pete
This is a wonderful looking car. I think that the brush polished Carrera wheels are very unique.
Can you show us a picture of the seats and the shifter boot? i have heard various comments about the leather texture on the 40th aniversary seats, and wanted to see for myself.
How do you like the seats, and how do they feel?
