I can open and close the top with my key from the door on the outside, but when I use the button it won�t work.

Hi everybody. I need help with my convertible top, Porsche 1999 996. I can open and close the top with my key from the door on the outside, but when I use the button it won�t work. When the parking brake is on the light on the dash is on... anything else i can do to locate the problem? Any help would be great! Thank you very much Nir

Even though the emergency brake light comes on doesn’t t mean that the top is getting the signal. You need a PWIS or Durametric type code reader to check it out. I'll echo checking the microswitch on the handbrake. Also check the fuses. I think there is a fuse that can prevent operation from the rocker switch. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...er-switch.html Try this google search for lots of suggestions "996 convertible key button or switch handbrake site:rennlist.com"

It happened to me just one time. In that case, I repeatedly clicked the button on the hand brake and could feel that it was stuck. After a few clicks it started working again and has never recurred.
