Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 1999 C2 came without the rear wiper and I would like to install one. Is it difficult and has anyone done it?

POST 2Original post

I just sold a 99 996 that I rebuilt due to an engine fire. I had to replace the panel behind the rear window that houses the 3rd brake light and the rear wiper. That panel is tack welded into the car. It would be more of a pain than it is worth. Your wiring harness is also probably not compatable with the rear wiper. You would need that body panel, the motor and wiper assembly, and the additional wiring.

POST 3Original post

I think the cars look much better without the wiper. Why do you think you need it? I've never noticed a need to have the wiper.

mfletch, You're my hero. I've seen the before and after pics of rebuild #1 before, but it stuns me every time. Well done! (no pun intended) CP

POST 5Original post

CP, good one on the well done Thank you. This project is more fun. It is more labor intensive and less of a money pit (at least so far). I agree with deckman...I never used the rear wiper. They are not pretty.

POST 6Original post

A while back, I installed a rear wiper on my car. However, I didn't think it looked good so I removed it!

Tell me about it! Well, since I can't sell it, maybe someone will track it down and steal it! Yeah, I know.... I KNOW!
