Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have a Savannah Beige interior but there was no off the shelf vinyl match for it so I used the black.

It's the suncoast part above with a console cover and I used a hole saw.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anybody tried to repair the slim cupholder horseshoe type? The front trim piece keeps sliding off and it won't latch. Anybody taken it apart? I think Pelican wants like $350 for it!
This is exactly what I'm doing. I'm in the process of accumulating the parts for my head unit swap right now. (Install kit is on the way, still debating on which nav unit to order)
Saw a cupholder on e-bay with the internal support piece for the stereo and jumped on it. This gives me a spare if someone ever wanted to go back to the stock stereo, since I'll be cutting up the one in the car. Not to mention it was only 75 bucks with shipping.
All of the 996 cupholders are pure rubbish. Overly complicated and terribly engineered. I'd opt for the center console kit that you can pick up at Suncoast.

HAH i drove mine from Chicago to NY wondering HTF there was only one cupholder....
3 months later I was jiggling a big bottle into it and it slid out, showing the second one....
same reaction: sat there in awe for a min and haven't opened it back up since. lol
While that looks like a decent solution, the compartment cover on the 996 doesn't stay open
and it's in a pretty weird position - you've got to be a contortionist to get anything out of there while you're driving...
It's the suncoast part above with a console cover and I used a hole saw. Took it to an upholstery shop and they covered it for $50. It will accommodate everything but stemware.
remove the cupholder and the front slides off and on from the side. slide it off and see if the tabs are broken. if they are you can epoxy it for a permanent fix
Thanks Seeeu911. There's the guy that makes an all new console with drink holders for hundreds of dollars but it is raised up significantly. My little mod still allows you to put your elbow down. I have a Savannah Beige interior but there was no off the shelf vinyl match for it so I used the black. Went with vinyl because it's easy maintenance after drink spillage. Looks ok but is highly functional.
Thanks to this forum I found about the cupholders, but I also had the same "awe" reaction, when the second cup holder came out. I believe my face was the same as a deer who's staring at the headlights before impact. Sent from my iPhone using Rennlist
Has anyone simply removed the cup holder and put a plate over the opening? Not sure if thats easy to do. Mine is stuck open and the faceplate looks rough. I may end up swapping the radio and dealing with it then, but trying to find of a solution in the meantime, if I were to simply remove the entire unit.
