Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Mats are a little worn and also might be replaced soon.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was going to title this post "MY IMS JUST FAILED" or something equally attention-getting - maybe that would be getting off on the wrong foot around here... but in any case, I am the proud owner of a new-to-me 1999 996 cab, arena red with graphite gray interior, stick. The NA 944 I owned for a few years just wasn't scratching the itch so I finally made the jump to the big leagues. I have always loved the 911, even before I had the opportunity to drive a 911SC in the early 90s. And after that drive, I knew that someday I would own some flavor of 911 for myself.
Rennlist has been quite helpful so far. I've been lurking here for a few weeks doing my research. I couldn't find a car I liked locally at a good price (except from a dealer who was being difficult about getting a PPI done, so I walked), so I expanded my search. After a "failed" (~$3.5k in repairs needed RIGHT NOW) PPI on a car out west, I located another 996 in Ohio which passed PPI with pretty much flying colors. I found good techs for both PPIs by searching Rennlist - this was invaluable.
This is the first car I have bought in my life sight unseen. A one-way car rental later, I was taking her on a 380-mile road trip back home, with plenty of rain in the mix! The spoiler light freaked me out when I made my first stop, I didn't know that it wasn't supposed to go out until the car moved! I might have hit triple-digit speeds outside of Indy after some new 'vettes blew by me when I was going 80 on I-65 - gotta make sure everything works, right? I was impressed by the torque available while lazily not downshifting to accelerate.
I put in a new battery when I got home, and had a new set of Yokohamas installed as well (I knew about both of these issues). She's running great, and my wife actually likes her, unlike the 944.
I don't know what you mean by "cab" but if you need a sawzall, I am in the Chicagoland are and will be willing to cut the top off!
Congrats, I have owned mine since November of last year, going to change out the oil pan next weekend and live in Forest Park. If you ever need moral support or some help, my garage is open!
Whoops! Meant NOT a cabriolet, obivously. I'm still excited and obviously not typing what I'm thinking.
Battery - just knew it needed a new one. The guy who did the PPI thought it was cranking a little too much before starting, new battery was his diagnosis and he was spot on.
+1 on the colour! Oh so Porsche!
The spoiler light freaked me too! I thought I had found my first problem. Breathed a sigh of relief when the spoiler popped up when I hit the freeway.
Yeah, I deserve the ribbing. I had some inexplicable brain cramp when I was typing the original post.
I'll post some interior photos when I have a chance - it's pretty good overall, but the gear shift is a bit worn for my tastes and that might be one of the first things I tackle.
Thanks! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to troll the air-cooled folks.
I'm a little surprised everyone loves the color so much; I'm pretty pleased with it as well. Something different, you know?
Interior looks good in general, no rips, tears, etc. Mats are a little worn and also might be replaced soon.
Shifter has seen better days, but it's an easy fix.
Frunk and engine compartment handles have lost some of their finish. Need to look into replacing/refinishing these.
