You can get a module that plugs into the back of your CDR-220 radio and it will take over the operation of the CD Changer to give you an AUX input so you're able to use the bluetooth.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

27 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I thought I'd post this so others don't have to read through a ton of threads about bluetooth and how to add it to your stock radios like I did. You can get a module that plugs into the back of your CDR-220 radio and it will take over the operation of the CD Changer to give you an AUX input so you're able to use the bluetooth. You can set it up to switch back and forth between the CDC and Aux, but then the CDC runs constantly. You can get the one I got from: https://creativecaraudioshop.com/ Or you can go to the manufacture of our radios: http://beckerautosound.com/ My unit cost $128. It needed a ground and a power tap to eliminate all engine noise.

POST 2Original post

Thx for the links, i just ordered there 1/8" jack adaptor.

Just an FYI, you can buy the exact same cable for $5-$10 from Ebay or Amazon.

POST 4Original post

I have this one and it works brilliantly. http://www.discountcarstereo.com/BLU-BKR235.html I added a ground loop isolator to eliminate alternator whine for under $10.

POST 6Original post

Hey, I searched and did not see a reference to this offering from Becker. I desperately want to keep my stock CDR-220 look, but need bluetooth. Has anyone tried this? ebay...PORSCHE BOXSTER / CARRERA BECKER CDR-220 with Bluetooth Streaming I am hoping that it is a direct swap. https://www.ebay.com/itm/PORSCHE-BOX...-220.TRS0.TSS0

Why swap it out when you can add bluetooth without removing your existing CDR-220? Significantly cheaper too. http://www.discountcarstereo.com/BLU-BKR235.html

Great point. I was just worrying that my 16 year radio would potentially fail at some point soon. I am not sure where Becker is getting the radios for this sale, but I was hoping they were new or fully refurbished.

POST 9Original post

That's the one I used and it works great.

POST 10Original post

Here is what I used: A2D-BKR Audio Streaming Adapter for select Becker AUX Ready Radios http://www.discountcarstereo.com/A2D-BKR.html It works fine for streaming audio via Bluetooth from the iPhone. It is only A2DP, so no phone calls, but that is a-ok with me.

Here is what I did to add Bluetooth to the factory radio. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ker-radio.html

The only problems I've heard with Becker radios is with the control ***** getting tacky.

Yeah mine are pretty sticky! I use this thing for bluetooth on my car: Amazon Amazon Minimal investment and if it goes bad I can buy ten more before it hits the cost of most of these other solutions.

POST 14Original post

Replacement buttons for the Becker radios are readily available, and easily replaced. The A2D-BKR is a 10 minute install, easy plug and play, and is only $70. I like the fact that it is invisible, seamlessly integrated into the factory radio, doesn't involve any wiring, and is easy to use.

POST 15Original post

I DIY'd my friends bluetooth for his 996: Here's what I used: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Aux-In-Mini...72.m2749.l2649 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Auto-Au...72.m2749.l2649 Super easy and it effectively becomes plug and play

Looks like a nice inexpensive solution if you don't need hands-free phone and Siri integration.

siri and phone calls work it uses the phone's microphone

POST 19Original post

I got the one from discountcarstereo.com referenced above, easy install, no splicing, got it done in 20 min. Hardest part was getting radio back in as the wires, etc kept blocking. as for the Becker sticky *****, get a can of plasti-dip, cover the bottom of the ***** with painters tape, stick a toothpick thru the bottom for something to Hold onto while you spray them, works great

Here is another option - full kit ready for the DIY type: https://rennkit.com/product-info/blu...-retrofit-kit/

POST 21Original post

Do you know any of them that actually works on the aux input but maintaining the CD changer? I bought one that was supposed to work keeping the changer (100$) but I had to return it

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 16427229

I used this one, which connects to the AUX of the radio but retains the CD changer functionality: https://www.discountcarstereo.com/a2...ategory_id=451 The only downside I see is that the CD player is always playing, even though the audio is from my phone. I'd rather the CD player not always be spinning, but that's a minor issue. The audio comes from the phone until you turn off the Bluetooth on your phone, then the CD works again. This does not offer hands free telephone, but I don't need that.

POST 24Original post

Just wondering which of the harnesses cause the CD player to spin while listening to music. Is this only an issue with the harnesses that still have the external CD changer connected? Or does this also occur in the harness that removes the CD changer. I really have no need for the CD changer, honestly. Just curious to see if the simpler harness also prevents the CD player motor from running. Thanks.

I (with less than full effort) tried to find which wires I needed to circuit in order to fool the head unit into thinking the cd changer was working and had a cd in it. I got (even more) lazy and just wired in a bluetooth input receiving module and left some terrible cd of my wife's that I hated in the changer. Solved two issues at once.
