Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My first thought push switch and you do not have to push clutch in... nope that still want start car
So what could it do ????? switch could be bad I did not test... any thoughts
If i modify any switches I am going to get rid of the e-break from stopping the top
add two pic. looks like their is more too it. Is it part of a alarm??

fuse in box on wire
It sounds like Tool Pants knows what it is, but I'll guess it was a cheap security technique. Without the switch in the proper position the carthief wouldn't be able to start the car since depressing the clutch wouldn't close th circuit.
I had the same set-up in my car. I followed the wire going to the back of the car , but it was cut.
I have a Tiptronic trans
I also found Porsche Beverly Hills plates in the car.
Please let me know what its purpose was, as I have been very intrigued.
Yes, the button was placed behind the carpet on the center console (driver side). The wire that went to the rear of the car from the fuse panel looked like speaker wire. It was cut under the carpet at the rear parcel shelf, where the shock mount is located. Also, the wires to the fuse panel were not connected.
My first impression was that the set-up was some hack rigging, but realized it was more on the professional side after unwrapping the "black box" thing, which look like two relays. the solder was done well, and the whole unit cover with shrink tube.
...so does anybody know what it is for, and whether I should put it back?...
got it, although I still do not understand why it was needed. Wouldn't you still need the key to start the car? It cant be that easy without the key, can it?

"so that the car could not be started unless the hidden switch was held down. The switch location was marked with a small piece of black electical tape on the carpeted trim panel, but that tape usually fell off.
This was done by a stereo shop that did work for Beverly Hills Porsche back then. All cars that I have seen in our area had the system disconnected." Tool Pants
All wires are hooked up but I do not need to push the button to start the car???
and why would you want this....I want to deactivate the clutch safety switch... as well as the e-break for the top.... pay for this option is ridiculous
and there is more to it than just a clutch kill too many wires... what ell did it connect to
good information in that post...although I don't see why anybody would be upset at you for the explanation. It seems like more of an annoyance than a theft deterrent. Outside of the dealership, I see no use for it.
...and for those who are interested in having this "dealer installed option." I will sell mine for 50% off...$125
jk
Your BHP deal has been disconnected, that is why you do not need to press on the hidden button/switch.
The right arrow picture shows an aftermarket connector. That is usually in the fuse panel, sometimes covered by black electrial tape. Guess it depends on who did what that day. Like the mile long speaker wire you have.
