Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Man I'm having another itch to get a rice burner again. Always loved the old skylines and love the rarity of them also. Aside from parts being challenging to source, any reason not to get one? I would end up selling my 99' cab with 37k miles to make it happen. Tough call.
KMAGNUSS I see you live in Englewood FL. Nice place. I was there jus two weeks ago in the offshore powerboat races. I love that hole Sarasota area, if I was going to live in FL that is where I would be. Drove on the "Canopy road" and was wishing I was in my Porsche instead of the F350!
I had a lot of fun during my tenure as a rice burner, but I was definitely the old man (at 30-something) of the groups I hung out with. The import tuner crowd is too young for me, the Corvette crowd is too old. Porsche folks are juuuuust right.
But damn, I had fun making this:
That said, I would go with a Skyline or an old Supra (if you can actually find one that hasn't been crashed three times and burned down at least once)...
A good number of the import tuner crowd in San Diego are sailors and Marines, so if you're looking for a new drinking crew - and you don't mind hanging out with people who drink Fireball and Jager, potentially getting vomited on, and being in at least one bar fight a week - this could be the crowd for you!
As a career Sailor (with 28 years of service to date), I will neither confirm nor deny SOME of the things in the last paragraph of

One of the reasons I got a 996 was the drive to fix ratio was favorable(hey, stop laughing). The same cannot be said of a R34 unless you drive it like a granny. As I get older, my drive/fly to fix ratio becomes a lot more important. I sold a 1950 Bonanza plane a few weeks back, and I'm looking at a stodgy Cessna spam can because I don't need to futz with it constantly before and after taking a trip.
It's nice that I can walk out anytime, hop in the 996 and just drive somewhere without any drama.
Good read for you, cars are replaceable so buy what you want when you want. Not sure if r34 is even legal though.

Check with the insurance company first. Up here they blacklisted the RHD cars and it's idiotically expensive to get insurance on them (even if it's only a micro pickup truck). Something to do with making them more dangerous when passing or making a left turn at an intersection.
Good luck finding an R34 GTR that's legal, especially for a price below an early R35. If you're looking to spend 996 money, go for an R32 GTR that's here legally (or import it).
The JDM Skylines are very fun cars though, a friend has an R32 GTR and I've drove another's R34 GTR about a decade ago.
996 > R32/R33/R34 > 996TT
Man I wish I could afford a GTR R34... but they're usually around $70k for legally imported ones. The R34's I'm looking at are GT-T's. Just RWD with RB25DET rather than the RB26DETT and AWD in the GTR's (among other things).
Can the RB25 handle the abuse of the RB26? The motor is one of the things that makes the GTR great (similar to MKIV Supra).
The imported market is dicey because as more and more GTRs are allowed in the states it's going to saturate the market and bring the prices down. Which will hurt for the high dollar R33/R34 imports.
I was hunting for an LS1 FD for a long time and gave up. Love the FD. TE37 and JIC Ti are great additions.
Nah the RB25 can't handle as much as the RB26... but it can still get to 600 hp with bolt ons and some new rod bolts pretty easy. 450 hp is pretty much the norm for completely stock internals.
I'm putting this one on the back burner for now... gonna keep the niner for awhile it seems.
Thanks guys.
Selling parts for European car's is 99% of my business, but I have access to brands that cater to the Japanese cars too like HKS, Greddy, Mishimoto, etc... I sold a few months back all the parts to build a hot motor for a 240z, DCOE Weber's, Fidanza flywheel, Mishimito radiator, ARP bolts, Aeromotive and on and on.
If you need anything shoot me an email.

Yes but apparently there were a bunch that made it in prior to 2006. Supposedly there was a company that was bringing them in and getting the DOT certified also. The ones I've seen recently got imported somehow... the one guy I spoke with said it's all about who you know and who to pay your 'taxes' to.
I sold my r32 GTR to buy my 996. WHY?
I live in California. I was constantly getting pulled over. After getting a state Referee ticket, I decided it was time to sell.
Having over 600whp is fun but smelling like gasoline and being loud wasn't that fun when trying to valet at a restaurants. I loved the car but I grew out of it quickly. My friend has 2 Motorex R34's one being a NURspec and the other being a Nismo. They were awesome but they were never driven. He had a fear they would get damaged or stolen at a parking lot.
Insurance was pretty easy. A lot of companies didn't have any problems insuring my car. Just look up exotic car insurance companies.
I sold my GTR because it was a black cloud for 3+ years. I spent so much money on fixing things it quickly became a burden. Countless things went wrong from the moment I bought the car from a supposed "reputable" dealer. Turbos, bottomend, turbos again, it spent more time in the garage than on the road. There was SOOOO many things along the way that made my ownership a nightmare that it wasn't worth the trouble - from chasing the dealer for my car for 5 months to deliver the car (a car that they had already) to chasing the shop building my motor for over 4 months, things got old fast. It's unfortunate because it was one of my dream cars that I finally obtained, but my Porsche and new friendships came from selling that car so I'm beyond happy it's gone.
25yr rule if in the US, 15 for Canucks, and none if bringing shell separately in without the motor in place.
Then there's always the Jamaica option as well.
The 15year Canadian rule only applies if the car was manufactured and originally sold.in Canada. The Japanese imports can not be brought in to the US under those rules. They would have to adhere to the original Japanese import rules.
I think I may not have been very clear. Japanese imports coming into the US must meet 25yr rule even if it has been registered/titled in Canada under the 15yr rule.
Did you guys ever get Landrover 110's sold there before? Because there are quite a bit of LR 110 owners that have valid registration/title under the 15yr rule.
Canada has a 15 year rule. After 15, anything can be imported from anywhere and doesn't need any modifications (just a standard safety inspection like any other Canadian car). We have Japanese spec 928s here that are LHD but have RHD European headlights.....perfect for blinding everyone.
