Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The supercharged Crossfire makes 330HP, which doesn't exactly eclipse the 4S, and the 0-60 time is slower than the 4S unless you swapped pullies or otherwise tinkered with the Crossfire to wring out some additional power...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

24 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 911/996/C4S/CAB/6Speed( 04 92k )just arrived on Saturday via Pilot Transport. Here are some of my random thoughts... I found the car on RENNLIST about 3 weeks ago. I would like to say a Big Thanks to Mr. Groovzilla (Rennlist Member) who helped me on what to look for in an older 911. My goal, was to buy a sub $30K car - see how much I drive it and enjoy it - then if I do enjoy it, move "up-market" and buy a new/newer one in a few years. Now, on to the car - The car is a ROCKET SHIP. 0-15 MPH is OK, but from 15-75 MPH, you better hold on. 2nd - through 5th gear, my torso was mashed against the seat. The "notes" from the motor are great - my DD is a Honda Accord - all I hear is XM Radio - with the Porsche - I don't even want to have the radio on - so as to hear the "noise". I also feel as if I am driving a go-kart. My butt seems to be only about 6" off of the road - which is a strange feeling. The car just steers where I turn the wheel - it takes corners like nothing I have ever driven before. I took my wife a a long ride (with the top down) and she told me "that was fun..."

POST 2Original post

Congrats and welcome - you're going to love it! It's going to be 75 here tomorrow and I will be right there with you. Freshly washed and waxed, top-down awesomeness R

POST 3Original post

Congrats. As I understand it the 04s Cab is a rare bird, so double congrats. BTW - Technically you don't need 4th and 5th for 75MPH. 3rd will do you just fine

POST 4Original post

Welcome to the water-cooled club. Any pics to share?

Third is the only thing at that speed that doesn't make me really wish I had a turbo. Of course I eventually want one and there is no replacement, but it softens the blow a little.

[QUOTE= I took my wife a a long ride (with the top down) and she told me "that was fun..."[/QUOTE] High praise..

POST 7Original post

Welcome! And really, that feeling doesn't really go away; I've had mine since August and I never get tired of it. Since Groovezilla helped you out, are you by chance in the PNW? If so it's always nice to welcome another member into our rainy corner of the world.

appreciate the kind words - the C4S is a great driver - *and don't forget there is a "6th" gear now you must post some photos - anxious to see it in your garage!

Congratulations and welcome! The 4S is a great car to drive. You mean he doesn't have a stable?

POST 10Original post

Nice choice. The 4S is a wonderfully balanced car, plenty fast for the street despite what the turbo folks will say, plus with the factory sports exhaust it sounds much better

I'm not so sure that a 996 N/A is a rocket ship. Its a quick car but not overly exciting. My wife's SRT crossfire pulls much harder.

POST 14Original post

Congratulations, and nice choice with seal grey. In addition to not being yet another silver 996, you'll find that the seal grey hides dirt really well.

OP's daily is an Accord, so we can perhaps give him a little slack for daring to suggest that an N/A 996 is actually a fast car. The supercharged Crossfire makes 330HP, which doesn't exactly eclipse the 4S, and the 0-60 time is slower than the 4S unless you swapped pullies or otherwise tinkered with the Crossfire to wring out some additional power...

The supercharger gives more low and broadband torque giving it the illusion that it's a quicker car.

Nice color and congrats on your purchase Attachment 999381

Not only that but the 996 tends to be a more engaging car since it lacks the insulation and softer suspension of many other cars that may be faster on paper. Sort of the way that a go kart feels like you're flying at 100 MPH yet you're lucky if you're doing 30 MPH.

POST 20Original post

I toyed with the idea of an SRT Crossfire, but ultimately, just like the Solstice GXP, I couldn't bring myself to do it. At least the Crossfire has AMG guts, but still... Funny story to further derail thread: When we drove the GXP, I took the 20ish sales guy off to the side and said, "My wife is looking for a new drift car, so if she starts to get it sideways, don't worry too much." Kid was terrified as he climbed into the pax seat. Heh.

Heh I like it! I DD a 6.2L supercharged Cadillac EXT pickup truck which is around 700 hp with the SLP engine / blower. That's a rocket

I don't know if any of you have an srt6 and if not how can you compare it to your 996. I don't do car or Bike snobbery but I do own a 996 C4 , A 05 SRT6 purchased new in 07 and a 04 Maserati Cambio Corsa Coupe. They each have their own personality, but if you are arm chair racing, I'll take the Maser over the other two. Even with the F1 trans and paddles the Mas will stomp them both. The SRT has a Fabulous AMG stroked engine and trans combo that I don't think I could take with my 6speed 996. Incidentally, I have some interesting bikes. A1956 R69, 84 R100 CS, 08 K1200S and a bomb called an 10 S1000 RR. Trust me until you put the RR in Race mode and let her rip you haven't lived.
