Let's see all those 997s.
Here's my original owner 2006 997 Carrera S with 16K miles. My first 911 that will be handed down to my son someday.
I've got some aftermarket LED lights (that i'm contemplating going back to stock) and 997.2 wheels. I've got the original 19" lobsters waiting to go back on at some point too.
thanks for making this post! this is my carrara white 997.1 turbo 6 speed. i picked it up in june of 2020. it is my first porsche and has been a dream car since pretty much forever.

under my watch i have:
replaced the factory PCM with a kenwood wireless carplay unit
added a JL audio HD750 amp and 10" subwoofer in a custom enclosure in the rear deck
added sound deadening to the doors
replaced the what appear to be original yellowing stone guards
gtechniq ceramic coating and full front xpel PPF
updated to porsche solid red tail lights
replaced the fabspeed maxflo exhuast with a catted speedtech 2.5" x-pipe exhaust
had the PCM interior stack repainted in matte black to match the 997.2 factory look
replaced the dilapidated factory carbon fiber dash strip with new carbon from MACarbon
on my todo list is
drop engine, pin coolant lines, pin cams, new sachs 2.5 clutch kit and GT2 cylinder, replace every rubber gasket/hose/seal
replace the delaminating gauge cluster overlay with a new overlay from FVD
I'm a sucker for red, but all the same, you have impeccable taste in cars. Would love to see the others, maybe one big family photo
Is that Guards Red?? Pictures make it look almost lava (even though I believe lava wasn't out yet in '06....)
Thanks Tom. I too am a sucker for red. Always have been, always will. Wife says no more red cars thought.
I should get some better photos. This is the only one I have of them all.
Oh and yes, the 997 is Guards red. As is the 86 3.2.
Need more 997 pictures for this thread!
Also, since there is now a dedicated 996/997 sub-forum maybe someone will consider starting a
'996 Picture Thread'
Very nice John!
I know you posted something about your diesel Cayenne sometime back. Good to see a pic of it and the new 997 additon. Conngrats!
And, a belated Welcome to Carpokes!
My harem. I've had a Porsche since 1976 and never thought I'd ever be anything but an air-cooled guy. How times change!
The 997 is Atlas Grey. The Panamera is Dark Blue Metallic.
Sorry about that - I got your Cayenne Turbo confused with the two diesels from S996 and Conv+d356 that we were both commenting on back at the end of March in the
'Cayenne 2014 diesel 100,000 miles today!'
topic. You even mentioned there that yours was a Turbo! Confusion reigns sometimes.

Life-goal unlocked last year!
'07 997.1 with the well-decried tiptronic transmission.
Gotta tell you though, it's simply fantastic.
Have no time for the tiptronic whiners - this car is so damned much fun!

Indeed! It's definitely a different shade of dark red and it looks great!
I am assuming that two of the pics at Rennbow are your 997 (one with diff wheels!).
https://rennbow.org/porsche-colors/CarmonaRedMetallic
An additional comment on the stock "Classic Carrera" wheels (as in my avatar) vs. the Fuchs and then I'll let it go. After switching from the stock wheels, the difference in ride quality was dramatic. The Fuchs are very much more comfortable.
If you think about it, those spokes on the stock wheels direct the road shock directly into the hub and into the car. The Fuchs (or any more solid wheel really or wheel with many spokes) distributes the road shock through the wheel before it hits the car. Sort of like riding a bike which has straight up and down spokes (peloton style) perpendicular to the hub vs. a bike which has the spokes at an angle to the hub crossing other spokes. The ride of the perpendicular spokes is brutal, the spokes at an angle flex and absorb much of the shock. This was a very welcome upside to the Fuchs and ditching the stock wheels which I had not anticipated.

I know this is also my profile pic, but thought I'd share a larger image for the picture thread. This pic was taken in Joshua Tree, which we drove through on our way home from L.A. to West Virginia. It was on my bucket list to buy a 911...and drive across the country... so I did them together.
My contribution to the 997 picture thread is a photo of my 2012 997.2 GTS 4 which is meteor metallic grey. My second 997 ownership experience, the first being a black 2005 997 S.
Nice! Welcome to Carpokes David - thanks for joining up!
We've got some accomplished photographers posting pics! Fantastic 997 and fantastic setting, surroundings and composition. Thank you!
I don't have a better picture but here's my 997. When I am out with her I will post the better pic, so until then this will have to do.
Wanted the Pure Blue but at the time this became available. Maybe in the future I will be able to trade over to Pure Blue.
Have since this picture was taken replace the front spoiler with the correct factory piece.

Beautiful car as well as the setting for the pictures outside (Arizona?) and in your garage!
You had some great garage pictures that were full of fantastic Porsches when you first joined Carpokes. Just a reminder that we have a Garage thread.

2006 997.1 C4S. Not many mods: Porsche Classic wheels and the Turbo side skirts on the lowered spring set. 3.8 L with 355 HP. Owned 10 years now. Alternates with a couple other 911's but mostly a Spring & Fall driver (Cabriolet for the Summer and a show '76 Targa for the display circuit).
Went to the Forgeline factory in Dayton and had them custom made. Friend/detailer, Aaron Copper, AC Detailing, ceramic coated them. I'll post more pictures when the weather improves.

Awesome 997 and wonderful photos too.
Pics #3 & #4 with the broken cloud sky and the trees in the background stand out even more. Almost perfect natural light and great backgrounds - nice!
Glad you discovered the site - the Vibes are indeed good.

A favorite car and a favorite road. This was near the north end of the Taconic Parkway in NY. I've driven it many times but this one was special.
The car is stunning. I love the color - that's one of the nicest blues I've seen in a photo. (Colors in photos are difficult to judge due to the many variables of light, equipment, color balance, etc.)
No matter, what blue is it? I tried to match it but not having much luck. It seems like Aga Blue or Azure Blue or similar.
Man, that looks real good! Snow still? I’m in MN and we didn’t get that match all year.. crazy weather. Last year I had a 6ft pile from the garage to the street
I still have my original 997.1 and sold my 7.2 to make room for the 991 at the time:

Both great cars!! I had a 7.2 base model GT3. I miss it so much ..but I like the profit and having 7.2 Carrera almost as much
Question for you.. if you don’t mind what is your ride height on the 7.2 (white car). Bottom of the front fender to the ground.. just curious
Just picked up from the shop where they did:
Eibach Springs (EIB-7222-140)
Flat 6 Wheel Spacers 7mm/15mm
Front Lip (Ikon Motorsports)

More updates coming later this year - I'm planning to do body color match on the spoiler and rockers which was a factory option.
I put Forgelines on the turbo over the winter. Toured the factory and picked from infinite options. Picked them up and met the guy who made them. Dayton is only 100 miles away.

I had forglines on my M3 (ZX3-R) - Did the same thing as you Jfort and went to their place in Dayton - I would love a set for the 997…

Beautiful car wonderfully staged = great photos. It takes time and planning to achieve those kinds of results, so congrats on that! Very nice!!
About time for a few refresher glamour shots! Thanks! I've been in withdrawal missing pics of your wondrous 911 residing in its Endlessly magical spot. Have you written me into the will yet? Thanks in advance.
"End of the season"...whaaat??? Every season is driving season for these cars. I avoid snowy and sloppy days because of the MagChloride they put on the roads, but other than that, I drive my Porsche every day. Why wouldn't I? Not driving these cars is the worst thing for them. Nothing would make me happier than to die with over 300k on the clock!
aboyandhisdog,
Most folks don't know how nice the weather is in Fort Collins, they just assume Colorado is snowy all year long. Friends in your area usually have milder Winters than I do a little North of Omaha , Nebraska. I will admit I park the Cayman and another special machine during the Winter months, but I could see you getting a month more of asphalt time than I can living in beautiful Fort Collins ( the town Disney used for Main Street, USA ). Now the Macan S sees snow and more and moves through the white stuff with aplomb!!
The car is a beaut!! I really like the rural setting too - nice juxtaposition.
Welcome to Carpokes Mr. Gerry!
By the way, Carpokes is a very photo-friendly site - no 3rd party photo hosting site needed. It's easy to post jpg, jpeg, etc. file types directly to a post. No 3rd party hosting site needed. (In case you prefer to do that rather than screenshot your photos.)

Thanks for the link to posting photos, Tim. I always get temporarily confused here, as a lot of sites just have that "browse" button and then you open the pic and post. I'm pretty much an idiot with some of the tech stuff...you need to "dumb it down" for me!
Same. Just worked to hard to have these cars. I genuinely love them and don’t want them eaten alive by salt etc if it can be avoided. Same with tracking them, just not my scene. But much respect for the guys who do. I do drive a lot in the season, a lot of “therapy drives”.
Agree with both of the above two sentiments as I wouldn't want cars as nice as yours and others I see here anywhere near a track or out in harsh salt winters. Hard laps can take their toll and salt just likes to eat. (Yikes to salt!)
In my case, the GT4 was specced for the track from when ordered and on-track is its favorite home. But year-round with the GT4 on streets and roads is also a blast in the off-season with proper tires/wheels.
Fortunately for me, year-round public road driving where I live is fine most of the time, obviously avoiding snow and ice conditions, so all the sports cars get their exercise on the nicer and warmer winter days that we will get on occasion. I just make sure to keep them clean.
I follow a number of UK guys on You Tube and am always quite stunned at the amount of corrosion they have on suspension parts, coolant pipes, even the engine case. You don't think of the UK as a particularly icy, snowy, salt-on-the-roads kind of place, but most of their cars have tons of corrosion. I guess they clearly must drive them when salt is on the roads, but I have to scratch my head wondering why they don't rinse the car thoroughly and frequently. I guess they must have a different mentality about this than we do here in the US.
Decided to go for a quick drive with a friend since the weather was so nice. First had to stop by to see what the latest acquisitions were..

Lolol. Actually Brad, I was just using your Carpokes user name (hence the quote marks!) but for no particular reason. It just randomly popped into my mind as what to do and from there it went to the keyboard and beyond.
As to the "picture fix" comment, yes it was in reference to your car (as well as everything else in the garage pic). And also yes, it's one heck of a Carrera, wannabe GT3 or not!
We had a 2010 GT3 (base model)
but thanks to Covid and owning it for 7yrs making 103k profit, it made it hard to keep… so my son, missing the GT3 commented on how cool it would be with the same wing.. so I got one… the Carrera 2 badge will stay intact tho… no badge fudging
New to me 2010 turbo. Represented as having 700HP. It feels like it does! Love the PDK and ceramic brakes. I added the Forgelines and Mr12Volt CarPlay. Replaced the lap time clock with something useful.

If I ever luck out and manage to get a PTS Porsche, it will be a dark blue or a dark green.
In actuality, I've been studying, researching and salivating over PTS colors for several years now and am about 98% sure that it will be Verde British Racing Green. I've studied the actual Porsche-suppled painted metal samples, photos from any and every source I can find, the new (and much more accurate) 360° view for 911s in the configurator, etc. For me, Verde BRG is about as good as it gets. This rendering from Porsche is close:

@btalont
,
Great photo of your cars and their home.
Nicely organized garage and you obviously do your own wrenching.
Also what a great pairing of models. I would think different driving experiences, but both entertaining for different reasons.
Thank you for sharing.
Carpokes is picture-posting friendly - no need for third party apps. It seems you have more than one photo on the attached montage. If so and if you want to post more, try posting your photos using Tom's guide that I linked below.

My 2011 997.2 Carrera. Have done some things to it - lowered w/Eibach springs, painted calipers, red Rimblades on Turbo wheels, PORSCHE stripe and the recent ducktail from Getty.
Dang lots of gorgeous machines just posted and we appreciate the eye candy. I do think we need a few more shots of the 914, so go over to that sub Forum and get those owners fired up to post pics there too!
Beautiful btalont, but................................we need a bunch of pics of the little topless redhead too!!!

At this point I think I am pretty much done with exterior tweaks. I may consider some wheels in the future but that's about it.
I really like the new look! It looks great!
I'm a bit (ok a lot) of a monochromatic-liking type regarding my cars. As much body color as the factory will paint is my mantra. Lol.
I got the invite for the HCC ride but couldn't go. Looks like a fun day. Great weather, that's for sure!
