Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2002 996 C2 So things started with the double beep and light for the alarm system Turning on. The alarm light would come and go. When the light is ON , the passenger door side the window will not drop from either inside nor outside. Now the alarm light mostly stays on but at times when it happens to turn OFF the one thing I notice is that passenger door window WILL drop with both the inside handle and the outside handle. It works normally. The window regulator was replaced by the previous owner about two years ago. The window moves up and down without issues. It does not drop if push down on the window. I have not put the car on a code reader. From what I see around , a new door locking mechanism is likely in order … I just wanted to make sure I’m on the right track here. Thanks for any help in advance. Kevin

POST 2Original post

Sounds like you are on the right path, door latch is a very common problem for 986,996 and 997.
