My PASM died so I replaced with the DSC module, but it clearly needs to be customized to better fit my preferences, so that's my next project.

This thread has drawn out some "fill the wheel well" fans, for sure.

Can you simply install ROW M030 spec springs on US M030 cars, or do other bits need replacing too?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The 997.1 C4S just got H&R's and they did the trick.
I’m debating this right now. I’ve talked to my Porsche mechanic and he’s a fan. Apparently you can take it down about an inch without any problem, but you will likely need an alignment. The wheel well gap is ok but I’d like it tighter and I’m a believer that “altitude is attitude”
Anybody else lowered their car? Any issues?
It’s way better lowered… also depends on which lowering choice you go. The H&R springs is a safe bet. I had them on my last Porsche…. My new one has coilovers…. Sometimes I like the simplicity of
Just springs.. alignment is forsure or you’ll kill your tires
It's like 911's were designed to be lowered...
My 991 version was lowered with H&R springs, AND wheel spacers. Really fills out the wheel wells nicely.
What I consider; perfect "stance" for a 911.
What do you think:

Another good look at lowered! This thread has drawn out some "fill the wheel well" fans, for sure.
With it lowered an inch, did you experience any fender liner or other tire rubbing while on track?
The US M030 996 sits about an inch higher than ROW spec M030 cars. Is this true for the 997?
Can you simply install ROW M030 spec springs on US M030 cars, or do other bits need replacing too? Anybody done this mod?
You guys rock. Had her lowered. New springs, alignment etc. she’s dropped close to an inch. Worth every nickel to have the wheel well gap filled. My mechanic says we have essentially taken it back to euro spec as God intended.
Bonus, it handles better. I don’t think it’s in my head, she quite literally handles better.
I have a simple question, my '02 996.2 has a set of Bilstein struts, B6, with the springs that they supply. The car wants to "float" at high highway speeds. It looks like the ride height is correct, and I have measured it to be as specified at I think 110mm from the bottom of the control arms.
I feel that a shorter/lower set of springs will do the trick to eliminate that feeling, and add some much needed stability. First off, where do I source the springs that will retain the ride, but aid in solving the unstable feeling condition of the float.
Any thoughts that you can share with me ?
I'm lowered on Eibach Sports. They typically lower your car about 1" and still provide a compliant ride. H&Rs are too firm for my taste, although they do drop slightly lower at about 1.25". Yes, if you install lowering springs, you will need an alignment post install.
I lowered an inch and have no rubbing in the wheel wells but….the small spoilers ahead of front wheels will hit the ground at high g loads. Nothing major…
Help:
I’m about to go back to lowering springs… coilovers are a pita to keep at constant ride height
As long as we’re talking suspension narrow body 997.2, those of you with springs… what’s the measurements from the bottom of the fender to the ground with H&R and Eibachs.. ??
I’m growing tired of coilovers… I just had it aligned and noticed it’s settled again and now a strut looks to be bad… tired of it!!
I would just like to know what I’m getting into with ride height. I don’t like slammed or real low. Lmk and thank you x 911
This looks great. I've been looking all over for examples of a black 997.2 on Fuchs. Love that color. Can you tell me more about your wheels?
I have my 997.2 C4S on H&R lowering springs and measured that it dropped a full inch all around. My PASM died so I replaced with the DSC module, but it clearly needs to be customized to better fit my preferences, so that's my next project.

By the way, welcome to Carpokes! Glad to have you here!
I have posted before concerning a front end "float" at high speeds, no matter what the wind conditions. It seems that the front of the car should want to squat at higher speeds simply from it's aerodynamic shape. I still have struts, and have asked about replacement springs on the car vs. a coil over shock conversion. I do care about the ride quality and can handle some stiffness.
Any thoughts plus or minus on this subject will be appreciated. Currently the front has Bilstein* stock replacement struts and springs bump stops and stock mounts.

This for a '02 996.2 Carrera
Thanks- Chuck
Here we go. Some of you have seen this picture before. Most of my cars are lowered at least a little. With the 993 I went with the OEM M033 springs. Afterward I needed a little lift in the back and found some OEM spring spacers that come in different thicknesses to get the car a better stance - a little rake to the front at rest. The 997.1 C4S just got H&R's and they did the trick. Ride is fine.
Whichever route you choose, springs or coil-overs, the best way to maximize performance out of your car would be to have your local Porsche Indy setup the alignment as best possible to achieve your goals (e.g. Road, Track, Road & Track). Simply lowering the car will not bring you any performance gains as the lowering part is simply aesthetics. You won't be happy if the car "looks good" but handles poorly.
I chose Ohlins R&T for 50% Road/Track duty for my 997 Carrera. Install, custom alignment + corner balancing was done by SP Motorsports in Hayward, CA. The car handled like a dream off and on the track... Coilovers allow for height-adjustability, corner-balancing, + rake setup (important to help turn-in + car rotation). It was huge improvement over the Bilstein B6 PASM shock/struts in terms of road compliance (drivability on bumpy Bay Area, CA. roads) and for track duty. Either way, you will quickly become a master of approaching driveways/speedbumps at 45 degrees if you lower your car
