When water and oil mix to produce that horrible sludge the usual culprit is a failed head gasket, one good reason to have an air-cooled as a spare!!!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So which one do you or have you owned??
Whether manual or tipronic i.e. Model type of road going car.
Assuming I've got all the variants & years listed correctly, please advise if it's not the case!
(UK Models & Dates listed)
as you have only 1 vote, for owners who have been lucky enough to own more than one, vote wisely!

quiz master!
eerrrr yes, the post says 'whether manual or automatic'
as these are merely options on the car rather than actual models in the range
and Admin forgot the GT2! sort it out
Hairdressers United.............................
I've only the one, 3.6 C2 Cab...........................and will probably only change for a 997 TT Cab 8)
missing one from the list.
Due to the strike today had a longish but very pleasant walk from Paddington to Liverpool Street to work, decided to play "Count the 911's"
I counted 6 (including the two parked next to my building)
One that did catch my eye was the 911 40yr anniversary, very shiny wheels and the Turbo/C4S front end, looked lovely.
Anyone own one on here? What did they do to the engine to increase the HP?
Re: missing one from the list.
There is one that lives down my road albeit with a very large dent in the rear that has been there for about a year
I think they were tweaked to 345 bhp. After the 40th anniversary edition came out there was the option of standard Carrera's having this power upgrade (X51???).
which car
so do i count as TT or turbo S category ?
I have the twin turbo with x50 upgrade so technically the s engine without the yellow bits hehe
had it approx a month now 11k on the clock and love it. 8)
Hi to everyone on the forum, this is my first post as I have just placed a deposit on my first 911 which I collect next Friday. I can't wait ! It's a C4S Cab, all black and is the sexiest thing I have ever seen (and likewise has an fantastic fat red ass !!).
White Gunk oil filler cap is this head gasket blown
Hi
Please can anyone tell me if the white Gunk in the oil filler Cap is because the head gasket is blown.

996 c4 cab 2001 pre facelift.
After 6 wks no driving the doctors say I am insured again as my arm is better enough => roll on the weekend.
2004 C2 coupe Tiptronic, heated seats, black leather, aluminium dials, gearshift and door foot plates, Porsche crest on headrests, 6CD changer, PSM, no sunroof, garage queen, one previous owner.
I used to hate driving, now I look forward to it...
Surprised there are more C4S's owned then facelifted straight C2s and C4s put together.
Surely this means C4S's are common and my C4 is rarer and will hold its value better
Was going to seopnd the pennies on a facelifted car or even a C4S... but found a manual cabriolet C4 with heated seats in my preferred colours and saved myself several thousand! Not ruling out a future move upwards, but at the moment, yhis is a car that does everything we need. Fast but not silly fast, endless incredible grip with safety and warmth through the winter.
Heated seats
Extended leather

Love it!! Really does make the old 964 seem like a classic car by comparison. It's retained all the 911 characteristics which I thought might be lost by going to water cooling and being a bigger car. It jyst feels more solid, that's all!
c4 cab tip 3.6 facelift with leather pack all round .embossed heated seats carbon fibre upgrade white dials and carrera kickstrips factory fitted fixed spoiler
Past two years i have a 1999 3.4 Carrera 4 Cabriolet, ocean blue metallic. Now the drives to the shop tend to take multiple detours and I don't mean to avoid Olympic lanes, yet ..
I wonder whether it's time this thread was locked and another one started.
I bet most people have changed their car since 2007.
:dont know:
Edit: Actually I suppose the title does say do / did so, ........ :?:

Recent new addition for me.
2002 C2 Manual, currently 60k miles, speed yellow with black interior and lots of CF.
Needs some jobs done, mostly age related.
Liking it a lot
Hi all, this is my 2002 996.2 C4 tiptronic cabrio in Lapis Blue with Metropole Blue leather. Acquired it last October with full PPI including borescope. In excellent condition, goes very well and I love driving it. Just had new water pump, belt and idlers. Planning IMS, RMS, gearbox gasket and full suspension refresh this year and I’ll be fitting new discs and pads myself.
996.1 Carrera 4 Tiptronic with 68,900 miles. 19" wheels which I like the look of, but wonder if 17/18" might be a little more forgiving on the crappy roads we now seem to have.
