Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Incidentally, I took this pic two days after cleaning the wheels and spraying them with Armor All Wheel Protectant.

Aside from the obviuos replacing with new, has anyone discovered a good way to freshen theses up?

Road temps were below freezing, so I was using the brakes a LOT more than I normally do when bombing down the mountain.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My stock lug bolts are getting a little shabby from being taken on and off. Aside from the obviuos replacing with new, has anyone discovered a good way to freshen theses up?
I was considering the stainless steel ones, but had two concerns. I couldn't confirm the strength of the material and those have the collar machined onto the bolt. I've settled on just painting them if needed when the wheels happen to be off. Some folks take a couple off each wheel at a time and paint them. I keep a soft-socket around, which helps minimize them being skinned up.
I bought $10 worth of plastic lug bolt covers from Amazon, and they make a huge difference. Painting lug bolts seems stupid, since they get scratched up every time they get hit with the impact wrench and torque wrench...
If you go this route, don't go all Lou Ferrigno when you pop the covers on - otherwise, you'll be spending a few minutes removing them next time around. All in all, it adds probably 5 minutes to remove before and replace after pulling all four wheels.
Incidentally, I took this pic two days after cleaning the wheels and spraying them with Armor All Wheel Protectant. In the intervening two days, I put about 500 miles on the car, including a trip from sea level to about 8,500 feet and back down. Normally after the mountain drive, the wheels are disgustingly dirty with brake dust, so I'll probably keep using the stuff. Road temps were below freezing, so I was using the brakes a LOT more than I normally do when bombing down the mountain.
I tried to tack weld the plastic to the wheels, but it was with limited success. I'll have to order some mild steel lug caps and weld those bastards up.
Seriously, try one of the soft sockets. They're available for small money (~$16 ebay) with plastic surfaces on the inside and outside. You can even provisionally use electrical tape.
