Suggestion
The 997tt will not work with every 18" wheel so you may want to double check fitment on your application.
Leading evidence: 'Check fitment' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check fitment' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The kit does not mention anything about changing the proportioning F/R despite the big change in swept area..

If you wanna use 350mm discs, better to go with GT3 calipers.

You can go with 997 turbo calipers and use 380mm discs.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone tried these cayenne and 997 turbo 6 piston calliper and rotor kits adapted for the 996 ? If so what did you think?
They are pretty reasonably priced

The kit does not mention anything about changing the proportioning F/R despite the big change in swept area.. How do they ensure the brakes are balanced F/R ?
You can go with 997 turbo calipers and use 380mm discs. It doesn't make sense to use 997tt calipers for 350mm discs. You are basically downsizing from stock configuration. If you wanna use 350mm discs, better to go with GT3 calipers.
I'm planning on 6 piston Cayenne caliper conversion for the wife's Acura. You'll definitely want to stick with the radial mount configuration of 997/996 style calipers. The Cayenne's caliper has the more traditional axial mounting which would require a really funky adapter setup if you used that.
There's also different 6 piston Cayenne calipers depending on if it's the Turbo version or not. It doesn't state which ones they use but most likely it's the non-turbo version based on the rotor size.
As for proportioning, you will probably be ok but obviously won't be optimized, especially if you are sensitive and planning on driving it on the tracks in which most cases, guys usually get the GT3 MC.
Edit: I dug further on their site and they are basically cutting off the ears on the 17z and 18z Cayenne calipers and converting them to radial mount. This isn't the best idea or way IMO as you're taking away metal and the holes they have drilled are not going to be the most robust as you're working with little metal. Look at how much metal is around the stock holes of a 997/996 radial style calipers to compare. There's a reason why Brembo put that much metal around those mounting holes.
The 997 turbo with steel rotors has 350 mm discs from the factory. The PCCB option for the turbo has 380 mm discs. The recommended wheel diameter for the 380 mm disc is 19".
Thanks for clearing that up Dennis. I'm so used to seeing PCCB on all the 997tt's I've seen, I forgot about the steel version. It's funny to see all the guys "upgrade" their PCCB's to steel versions. lol
I agree. I can tell you this though: after owning a car with the PCCB option, it would be hard to go back to steel brakes.
I'm not sure of the size of the GT3 rotors. Are they 350 mm or 380 mm?
I also checked out the site... it looks really well laid out and the machining looks really well done, but still weird like alpine003 said.
They are taking away a lot of material from the caliper and re-engineering "HOW" it distributes the breaking forces that the caliper and rotor create!
Also important to note that all the channels and dips(amount of metal) in the overall shape is determined by the mounting type(axial, radial). You can visually see the differences side by side between these two types as they exert different loads at different points. I think one of the few ways why they're able to get away with this is partially due to the fact that all modern Porsche calipers are of Monoblock construction. I'm not quite sure if you can get away with multiple piece calipers that have caliper half's bolted together like some other Brembo/BBK caliper models though, as they already start with a lower rating of ultimate strength, yield strength, and elongation properties compared to monoblock construction.
I was thinking of the 997 turbo ones , and planning to use them with 18 inch wheels .
My car has PSM , which includes the automatic brake diferential/ electronic brake force distribution systems which sence differences in the 4 brakes and optimises each brake independently , according to direction , yaw, traction , throttle and steering inputs .
From what I've read and speaking with indies , the car should balance fine with six pots on the frount .
Down the road I might get a set of uprated brembo 4 pots or larger giro disks on the back too.
It's too bad no one has tried them . It would have been good to get real world feed back
The 997tt will not work with every 18" wheel so you may want to double check fitment on your application.
Some peeps have a school of thought that larger calipers will mess with the PSM/stability programs but in reality most of the inputs sent back from the braking area is from the abs/wheel sensor no matter what caliper it uses. It's true that PSM will apply a certain amount of braking at a certain corner and if the piston sizes or total piston area is dramatically different, this could have an effect. However if you maintain a close overall piston area, there should be minimal to non-existent difference.
This is one of the things why Stoptech brakes are good. They size up and customize the multiple pistons in their bbk to match up with the stock as to maintain the stock like brake proportioning ratio for each application.
I seem to recall a couple peeps on 6spdonline that has this setup. You might want to look there.
I'll check out the fit ment on the 18s .
I've got oem wheels so they should be able to advise fitment if I order them .
I've had stoptech brakes on another car . I wasn't really happy with them , they didn't resist corrosion as well as brembos do. The performance was good .
One advantage with going with 997 t calipers and disks is the wide availability of aftermarket brake pads instead of being limited to stoptech pads
