Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Incredible car but sadly the engine threw a couple of rods out through the crankcase so I had a 3.8 built for it by Peter Fitzgerald using a 996TT long motor => no longer matching numbers.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Curious as to how many oz gt2’s you think are out there as I would have a totally different view compared to yours. Eg I understood stood there were only circa 16 oz delivered. Say two written off. Less the one you have thumbed your nose on. That leaves circa 13. How many do you think are out their based on your homework, As you seem very impatient to land one, not convinced the numbers are on your side. Eg Some on here may know someone who has one, but me thinks unless you entice owners with big cash over offers well above the Richmond’s asking you will need to be patient. I had an itch to scratch in another mark which had circa 30 oz delivered ones locked away in garages around the country. Circa six advertised over usual channels and a wovr one in perfect spec over a six year period. Took seven years to put a stop to my itch. Did I get my preferred spec and condition. Heck no and I also had to pump dollars into it to get to my liking. Only seen one advertised in the last 18 months after pulling the trigger on mine. Would I sell mine. Very unlikely eg possible future classic and too much time and effort involved in landing one and sorting it out. I am not surprised there are bugger all gt2’s around. Curious too as to what was wrong with the Richmond one and what you think a gt2 is currently worth.
For those wondering this is the current state of Adelaide car:
1. Aftermarket suspension installed
2. Aftermarket intake
3. Rear control arms have been replaced (suspect rear end impact as reported by mechanic).
4. Significant power steering leak - under tray soiled.
5. Aftermarket rollcage now removed leaving decent damage to rear of both seats.
6. RHR tail light broken at inner lower corner
7. Rear bumper has hole-like damage from something that has pushed outwards in the wheel well. Need paint / panel.
That’s all of the top of my head.
All of the above items are an easy fix, and being a 20yr old car its not going to be in showroom condition. As for the rear control arms, they are a serviceable item, especially when you see unknowing people using them as jacking points.
Just a view, but reckon if you’re not interested in spending dollars to get an available one to original spec, your pool of vehicles available are down to single digits and probably have of them are garage queens that may be hard to pry off existing owners. I am with WB997.6 GTS. All easy fix’s even the pccb rotors but that one comes with a bigger cost impost.
For the record my post title was not meant to be a suggestion that there are many around or that more should be available. It was merely to see if someone here who owns one might consider parting with it or knows of someone.
As a private collector myself I am well aware of the nuances of these rare models and whether one is worth investing into to bring it back to original state.
Thanks for everyone’s input this far.
The list of faults on the Richmonds car is for me something that can be corrected quite easily. Some can be put down to consumables and can be switched out again with original parts if so desired. Looking at how rare these cars are it all comes down to either waiting for your unicorn to come along or work around the one available.
Have you considered buying one from overseas or does it need to be an Australian delivered car? Just out of using it as a comparison does anyone know how much the one that sold on Collecting Cars sold for in August last year from memory it was in Queensland
There were 29 delivered to Aus. When I owned mine I was told by PR in Sydney who did the PPI that there were less than 20 remaining - several crashed and written off or tracked and wrecked. That was 10 years ago so not sure if that number is further diminished.
My car was a minter purchased from

with 40,000km, it was non Clubsport but had clubsport Nomex seats and harnesses (original seats came with it), half cage , steel brakes, upgraded turbos, tune and exhaust. Incredible car but sadly the engine threw a couple of rods out through the crankcase so I had a 3.8 built for it by Peter Fitzgerald using a 996TT long motor => no longer matching numbers. It was no less of a car but the purists would turn their nose up. I sold it to Michael Dellamalva in Adelaide who I believe still owns it (father of
