Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

On a 996.2 with the larger tank and headlight washers, access can be quite tight, so I’d expect the wheel and arch liner to come off for a proper repair rather than relying on access from the luggage compartment.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a warning come up every time the car is started stating that the washer fluid is low. If I pour water into the filler, it pours straight out onto the drive. I suspect that the filler pipe and washer bottle are no longer connected. I have looked at the relevant parts catalogue diagram and am wondering if either the grommet has perished or been pushed into the washer bottle. Is this likely to be something I can rectify from inside the luggage compartment alone (I have slim fingers) or is it more likely to need wheel and wheel arch liner off for full access to the reservoir? Car is a 2002 996.2 C2 with Bi Xenon headlights so has the headlight washer system and higher capacity washer bottle/reservoir.

POST 2Original post

Looks to me like you have to tackle it from the wheel arch. This says you can pull out the filler neck after removing the wheel arch liner.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Richard, thanks for sight of this, very helpful over the parts list diagram! Looks like I need to spend some time on the driveway when it's not raining. Sadly I don't have enough room in the garage for the car and working on it.

Quick update on this, I chickened out of doing the work myself (mainly due to lack of time) and Sid at Porsche Torque sorted the problems out when the car was in for service and MoT this week. We also agreed on a suspension refresh to sort out creaking especially from the front plus weeping rear dampers. Haven't had made chance yet to try the rejuvenated suspension out but it will be interesting to feel the difference.
