Suggestion

I have both a 1980 SC and a 2012 991.1 > NO WAY will I use synthetic in the 80SC - and no way would I use dino oil in the 991.

Hello, I'm new to the forum and new to 911 . I'm inheriting an '85 Cabrio. It's been garaged for the better part of 20 years. Driven on occasion for upkeep. I'm driving it across country in a couple weeks. Taking it into a shop to get checked over first but I will change the oil first up. Q: oil preference for this era? I would do some more checking around.. and I think the consensus is that for older 911s - air cooled 70s 80s synthetic is not the way to go. I have both a 1980 SC and a 2012 991.1 > NO WAY will I use synthetic in the 80SC - and no way would I use dino oil in the 991. I would recommend you checkout Pelican parts forum on the 911 - Brad Penn oil , others Vavoline Racing -1 you want a dino oil that has 1400 -1500 ppm [parts per million] of Zinc - Phosphorus. // Castrol 20-50 used to be THE 911 oil - but then they changed the formula - dropped the ZDDP specs - now have to find another affordable dino oil >> check out Pelican
