I was told the same on Friday and that the GTS is in a similar position with the suggestion it was due to Porsche focusing on volume models to protect revenues throughout the year.

Are there (mega expensive?) Carbon options to replace the black plastic at the front and rear?

If i wanted to change my RS WP for something, it wouldn't be a Porsche as i'd buy a Lambo EVO RWD instead plus a new Lotus Exige 410 Sport 25th with none of the bull

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

But he said it makes no difference to the OPC , what they like is using finance and service loyalty , where they make money not selling new cars
Does anyone know when this 992 GT3 is going to get released?
I was getting excited last month when they released some pictures of it, but this month I am not as excited.
If Porsche leave it any longer I think they will have missed the wave of momentum they created.
Also, does anyone know if Porsche have an annual price increase and if so how much is that likely to be and when is it applied?
Thanks!
If you had an allocation for one of these I'm assuming that you would already have been told all this info by your dealer.
If you haven't got an allocation already then your chances of getting one are pretty non existent unless you want to pay a massive premium to Romans, Tom Hartley of the other usual sources who will no doubt get their hands on some early cars.
NO Allocations would of been rolled out yet, crikey the car has not been released! ONLY when they release the car to the world will OPC get their exact amount of allocations.
They 'may' already know roughly what they will get from their current clients wants and needs.
I would say 300 PDK 300 manual for first batch.

To be honest the chances of getting one at list feel so remote as to not be worth working up the enthusiasm.
For a number of reasons, I suspect that there will be generally less enthusiasm for these.
It’s possible that the chosen few might be at the front of the queue for the first allocations at list , but any ‘overs’ are likely to be short-lived. So, getting one at list or below, in the future, may not be so difficult
Its going to reassuringly expensive. I picked up a 991.2 GT3 from PRG pre Christmas and was told its a big jump up in cost. They know how many they are getting but quite rightly not letting on. Maybe to the VIP's. I spend a fair amount with Motorsport division on a couple of race cars and they didn't open up to me.
No idea what cost but I guess 170 optioned up. Lets see if the flippers have the balls to take this on.

Sorry. But as i have said before in other posts, there is NO WAY an optioned GT3 will be 170k. That would put it as the same as my just part exchanged 992 TurboS!
150k max is the number
I don't have any insight but with a Turbo S base at 166 and options can get you to 185+, why cant the new GT3 not be 150 to 155 base with 15 to 20k options.
There are lots of new options on the 992.
Not saying it will happen but it is possible.
We will soon know.
We’ve heard similar reported via German forums of it being a lot more than the current car....if you’re going to test pricing a GT car is the one to do it on. Relatively low numbers, massive demand. Personally I’d welcome a higher price and a more sensible second hand market and thus demand for allocations. Ferrari have pushed the “buy loads of normal cars to get a special one” business model too far and now have a lot of disgruntled customers...I think Porsche are probably aware that long term a more balanced supply/demand is better for business.
Cheib said:

We can only hope!
I never quite understood the limited numbers issue? Surely selling a lot more cars outweighs the profits made on a limited amount of flipped models! There is obviously demand. Surely OPC’s profits trying to have a privileged bunch of buyers (i mean flippers) is not that great if they could sell a damn site more cars, more profit, more servicing profits, etc....
It may also help with the current discontent felt amongst many long term porsche owners.

I hope so, I’d like to spec one before 2030 and it feels like the window of social acceptability doesn’t have long to run.
Personally i hope that there will be a big jump in list price for two reasons. The first is it'll hopefully scare off the greedy habitual flippers which will allow all 992GT3s to be allocated to genuine enthusiasts in the first place. The second more personal reason is it'll further reinforce my decision to keep my RS WP and not be tempted to upgrade just for the sake of it.!
They did the same with the rare Speedster which has resulted in quite a few sitting unsold at dealers for over a year with only £20-25K 'overs'. The much more common 992GT3 if priced at £150K will quell flipping IMO.

Not enough capacity to make several GT models at the same time. Hence they do a "batch" of one GT model and then move on to the next one . But they can make more and more of each batch and have been doing so lately as they know they will sell,it is a business after all.
The question is what is the magic number before the target market says sorry too expensive / too many. Signs of that happening with 718 GT4 as they sold for overs for a very short time and you dipped below £80k as well on the odd car.
Add in current financial / pandemic / brexit situations and some potential GT buyers will be winners and some be losers and will spend accordingly.
I would love to have a GT2 in the garage but the way that Porsche only allow the "special people" to buy them. then that's never going to happen
I'm no longer a GT or Ferrari Pista etc, customer, simply the by way the system works
, it's like being a 3rd class passenger on the TITANIC

I agree, but unfortunately we have a group of 3rd class passengers willing to support the Porsche networks by buying into the ‘overs’ bulls
t. They are keeping the OPC Titanic's afloat.
Yes these cars are ‘special’ but they are not LeFerrari or Buggati special, its only the likes of forums like this and those members who insist their deviated stitching preferences are the best cars and only ones worth buying who are forcing people to believe the Hype.
I’ll never fall into the overs buyer category! Because i dont believe i should pay some tossers greasy palm money over the list price for a second hand car which isnt any better than my TTS, its just ‘different’ (popcorn at the ready)

Difference between the GT4 and GT3 is that the GT4 being a Cayman has a max price cap whereas the GT3 being a 911 is far less price sensitive.
That said reckon on mid £150ks otr for a nicely specced new 992 GT3 CS as previously confirmed. No way imo in the current climate will the basic car be £45k more expensive than the 991.2 GT3 even accounting for the extra tech suspension wizardry and cf etc.

I paid a premium ONCE, never again, hated the car, sold it at a loss, just to see the back of it. never again
Saying this I'm first on the list for a Maserati MC20 Spyder
How scary is that

If memory serves they were circa 115k. a decent specced one was anywhere between 125 and 135, the difference largely being on deviated stitching and being convinced you need ceramic brakes on a road car.

I’ve got a comprehensive list of option costs as I specced mine to nearly £140k. Anything in particular ? Or drop me a PM if you’d rather.

They weren't £115k they were £111k basic.
A decent spec cs with ceramics was around £130k incl.

How did that compare to a 991.2 Turbo? Might give us a benchmark to see how much extra a 992 Turbo is.

I think the 991.2 Turo S was £145k base....so 992 is £10k more.

Thanks, I was interested in a comparison with the 991.1 GT3 - my car (PCCB, Carbon Buckets, Lift, LED etc) was c. £125k.
So we have:
a 'high' spec 991.1 GT3 = £125k
a 'high' spec 991.2 GT3 = £135k
a 'high' spec 992 GT3 = £145k-£150k?

I'd say High Spec 991.2 was £130k. I.e. Buckets. Lift. LED, PCCB's, etc with a few other bits. Anything over that was a unnecessary/indulgent (guilty).

Yep C that pre spec of mine listed above with c£19k options came to just over £130k excluding otr charges.

Given that in Germany with much higher prices (from memory base for a GT3 was c 155k) you still can’t just order a GT3 / need to be on a list etc etc, I doubt that a price increase (even a substantial one) will change much - the economic environment might (although as somebody else pointed out there are likely plenty of winners)
Good luck to those who want one
I've just looked through my sales invoice - list price for my May 2108 car was £111,880 - and had £18,720 worth of extras!
Sold back late last year via the dealer

On my 991.1 GT3, totals extras are shown as c. £24k, but I think that certain items listed as ‘options’ were actually compulsory (e.g. PCM) at that time, so thevtrue option cost was more like £20k.

On the 991.1 GT3 the smoking pack was free as were satin plat wheels but mobile phone prep was £445 'inclusive' tracker £1140 and PCM was £2141. The standard Porsche warranty was only 2 years the third year being £1020 although Porsche offered a 4th year warranty free following the engine issues.
Most options were little changed in price for the 991.2. GT3. and the front lift option actually became a few hundred ££ cheaper.
What about Porsche's annual price increase?
Am I right in thinking 992 4S cars have not gone up in price since they where released two years ago?
So is a price increase due? What is Porsche's usual policy?

That would be a no.....the 4S is now 1.5% more for car before options , since I ordered /took delivery of mine ~June 2019

The real issue will not be general list price increases but the devaluation of GBP vs. EUR. In EUR terms, UK prices were rather low in recent times. Not unlikely that Porsche want to at least part-compensate for that with the 992

Indeed - the difference is large enough that if I were to order a new Porsche, I’d get a RHD one (or order a LHD in the UK and accept that I will have to wait a relatively long time to get it)
Maybe things are different in the UK but allocations have been passed around to dealers in Europe and while nothing is confirmed regarding pricing customers are told to expect a 15% price increase compared to the 991.2. If this is true or not remains to be seen. Apparently the late January realeaae date has also been pushed forward a week into February.

‘Release date’ means when the car is officially unveiled? When will allocations be announced and when do you expect first deliveries to arrive in the UK?
Thanks
So a 15% price increase will put the list price of a new GT3 at 127K plus 20K of extra's for a high spec club sport car, tops out at 147K.
I can live with that I guess!
February launch should mean a April/May date for the first delivery's.

Yep, that's all I've heard. Very low volume. I can only assume it's a run-out special for the ICE Cayster platform.
Local OPC told me yesterday that the 992 GT3 will probably be released February but not to expect any delivery's of cars until the end of the year, September at the best. So that's a bit disappointing.

Just NO way is this true.. they won’t miss out on delivery’s for summer as people will go off the boil by September!
Was going to be a Jan release with March/April delivery’s but COVID lockdown again! So they probably right in saying early February release with first cars being seen May/June.
One thing I am pretty sure of. Anyone who has a chance of getting the first few GT3’s at his or her OPC won’t “go off the boil” if they have to wait until September. If they do I am sure the OPC will find plenty of takers

I was told the same on Friday and that the GTS is in a similar position with the suggestion it was due to Porsche focusing on volume models to protect revenues throughout the year. Be interested to hear if anyone else has heard anything similar or different.
I spoke to my local OPC last week, GT3 still expected to launched end of January. First cars in the UK May at the earliest. He did say there may be a few batches being released, expecting 3-4 batches, production numbers will be higher than 991GT3

Photoshop, I reckon. Doesn’t look as good as the car revealed to Chris Harris.
Anyway, you can’t see the outside when you’re driving it!
;D
We’ve already been told Shark Blue is the launch colour and seen what it looks like in the Vid. Can’t believe Porsche will be launching two news blues on the GT3....

I heard that dates been put back to mid Feb for the press, and there are over 200 cars this year, the first cars you talk about are PTS slots. to catch a PTS window but 20 odd early PTS cars.

So yet another impossable car to get with these very low numbers.

What's more exciting is the RS spec sheet !!! Not that I am privy to post any of that on here.
maddness though circa 20 PTS cars makes them ultra rare yet again. The overs will be £200k at this rate esp when they post the ring time, the "RS killer"

Efa.
while I can post a few numbers , I don't have a crystal ball for values. £225k would be strong but doable I guess.
these last wave of GT cars will be all swan songs for ICE.
RS is lol spec where people will go wtf. But the RRP will be very high in the 1st place.

how have you got total UK sales figures ? out of interest. That's pretty high end info at this time but maybe out of date.
I heard that dates been put back to mid Feb for the press, and there are over 200 cars this year, the first cars you talk about are PTS slots. to catch a PTS window but 20 odd early PTS cars.
:-)
So yet another impossable car to get with these very low numbers.
Edited by Porsche911R on Friday 22 January 09:35
I checked with my local OPC last week, I am confirmed in the first batch of cars, maybe 5-6 cars. Oddly, they don’t have an allocation yet/build slots etc. They do have release dates/ delivery dates for the 992GTS! Release is 31St March, UK cars will be delivered week 29.
They are expecting first batch UK 992GT3’s to be delivered in May.
Touring will be released a month later with deliveries mid summer

What's more exciting is the RS spec sheet !!! Not that I am privy to post any of that on here.
maddness though circa 20 PTS cars makes them ultra rare yet again. The overs will be £200k at this rate esp when they post the ring time, the "RS killer"
As far as I’m still aware at this moment in time I’m doing my final spec on the 27th when the configurator goes live

chill out :-) I am sure you can work out what Mid Feb is date wise. lets see what happens and you can then post "sorry" on the site.
As dates move about I Am not posting it to the second as people like you s
t all over the posts.
So for those lucky few, what PTS colours are you considering? Grigio Telesto would be my choice ( grey I know, but really like that colour!)..... Perhaps a PTS opportunity deserves something brighter or more ‘heritage’ Porsche?!

Brilliant , PTS be around 8-10k you reckon.

Speaking with my opc this week the said they have been told they will get higher numbers for the 992 gt3 over the 991.2 gt3. There response was every generation we keep making more and more to feed the demand. Why wouldn’t we!

I'm pretty sure on colour but am waiting to see full car/options/interior before i fully commit.I was called last week to confirm colour and if i was having any painted interior options

Any unusual unexpected options available?
Presumably a choice of folding buckets or fixed buckets?
Are there (mega expensive?) Carbon options to replace the black plastic at the front and rear?
Thanks
Come on guys get back on track and forget the childlike attitudes !
I remember prior to the 991.2 GT3 release the forum was much more mature/ interesting!
If you have real info about the car dates, specs, £prices, colours etc there are many of us here would love to read this rather than the bickering
Look forward to readings some genuine updates from the lucky ones with early allocations
Hoping you enjoy the amazing experience
I don’t have any spec information other than the leaks that everybody knows. Before Christmas I knew I had an order and I knew the date the configurator went live. It’s going to have a 520bhp 4 litre engine as pretty much stated everywhere else. What other surprise specs could there possibly be other than being an evolution over the last gen RS.

Crikey £10K for 2 litres of Farrow & Ball, those guys at Porsche know how to make money, might as well be something wacky IMO to make it stand out, look forward to seeing the final spec

I will be keeping the RS as well Taffy,I can't see any reason to swap a WP RS for a GT3, especially a LG RS
I think the GT3 is going to be a great car but the RS models always hold a little something special

How do you think they will further differentiate the new RS - presumably there is less scope for increased power, so will it be through weight saving?

I can't see much in the weight saving area either TBH unless they really strip it out and go for lots of expensive materials in multiple areas where they currently don't use them
I think the only obvious differentiator would be an increase in engine size although this makes it a much more expensive option to develop, homologate and manufacture

I'm 100% certain that i'm not going to swap my RS WP for a 992GT3. The new car will be great but to be quite truthful i'm really fed up with the allocation process. I also don't want to be wrongly categorised with the habitual flippers who only want the latest GT Porsche every time for bragging rights.!
Another reason is between the awful weather and constant welsh lockdowns i've hardly driven my RS in the last 12 months. Its been on SORN since our second welsh lockdown began in October.
I spoke to my OPC only yesterday and asked how many GT3s they're are getting in the first round and he said about six but its likely to become a fully fledged production model in its own right and be built in higher numbers then the 991GT3. Only a complete idiot will pay 'overs' for one especially if they list at £150k.
If i wanted to change my RS WP for something, it wouldn't be a Porsche as i'd buy a Lambo EVO RWD instead plus a new Lotus Exige 410 Sport 25th with none of the bull
hit one has to endure with Porsche. A new Lambo with a V10 5.2L NA engine with no GPFs which sounds better than any Porsche really appeals.

Increasing production numbers of halo cars seems to be accepted practice by both Porsche and Ferrari right now. The NA engined car cow needs to be milked for all its worth way before 2030 when they'll be banned. The 991.1GT3 UK numbers were 332, 991.2GT3 double at 660 total. This trend will continue IMO on the 992GT3 but by how many, i've no idea.
I briefly owned a new 992S Coupe which i sold after two months as i didn't like it at all, i much much preferred my 991.2GTS.The new 992GT3 will undoubtedly be a brilliant car to drive and Porsche will build enough to satisfy demand as the image of flippers buying them only to sell them quickly to make a fast buck is not doing the brand any favours.
I'll probably get a 992GT3 Touring at some point but will wait to read some reviews before committing.

I think increased production numbers is a given, but (to my mind) that doesn’t mean a GT3 becomes a ‘normal’ production model - given the number of bespoke parts for the GT3 over the regular models, I’d have thought that there would be constraints on the numbers of certain parts that suppliers could deliver.
I think (deliberately) that numbers will be limited and the cars significantly over-subscribed.

I tend to agree with taffy in regards to increase of numbers for the 992 GT3..
Having own, and previously owned a few 992's now i originally really liked the tech and feel of the 992 platform, but I find myself still hankering after the 991 GT3 as the looks are 'just right', no doubt the 992 GT3 will be a blast, but come on.... Alloy wheels stripes still a thing! having watched the interview with AP and CH when AP said have done what we can with the 992 platform as that's we has to work with...
Every 992 I have had their has been teething issues with, door rattles, rear sections interior rattles, electrical gremlins, random faults pop up on the dash etc, their Quality control aspect for me, needs to be stepped up for sure.
I am looking forward to the manual box option, the option also to be able to have the R Tyres, still think it will 100% match or just pip the 991.2 3RS Ring time.
The new PCCB's which i had on the 992 Turbos are awesome and a step on from the 991's, however the new Steel brakes are also now larger, so it will be interesting to see how people will spec their cars

Yup but if you are limited in the amount of ICE cars you can make you make then maybe Porsche concentrate production on the models that are most profitable. It’s like the last year of 991.2 production they basically stopped making Carrera/S...you could only buy a GTS post summer 2018.

If there is a quota problem with ICE cars they will make the ones that make the most money...so it is Carrera/S they will stop making. Profit margins on 992 Turbo and GT cars are the highest across the range

Interesting, but the article actually claims “ The real money lies in expensive option packages and special edition trims” - isn’t that referring to special editions, not specialist models which have bespoke parts and significant extra development costs, like the GT3?
Edited by 992_GT3 on Saturday 23 January 17:47
I would have thought the GT margin is based (largely) on the development cost and small volume - once you’ve sunk that cost then you just need to make more to improve margin?
And as people have said, if there’s no future brand to protect, why not print the GT cars till you run out of demand?

Yes the steering feel is very special!
Thanks! It’s PDK

I mentioned on here the other day that Chris Harris has been driving a GT3 thus equipped…think he’s releasing a video soon. £50k plus £10k to fit plus £10k if you want their wheels. 4 sec of Nurburgring lap time……
As I said in my original post most amateur drivers could have two weeks of one on one cover tuition for a fraction of that and get much more significant improvement

Well that might have been me and I stand by this - wheel colour is a very important component of a strong lap time, maybe as important as tuition but both cheaper than a MT set up

What kind of insurance premiums are people paying on these? Have agreed to buy a touring and would like to get an idea of cost. Will have a tracker and be garaged overnight.

Looks like GT3, means no wing now , nice colours though .. . Good marketing as track days are becoming costly and most do not want to do them .

Hardly surprising. Mean people keep posting videos of how slowly (except on the WOT straights) 992 GT3’s are driven.
Mad Scientist said:
Plenty of fast cars driven slowly on every trackday I’ve ever done. So what. Fair play for people having a go.
Holding people up lap after lap is not cool though. Which is a very different thing.
Everyone pays the same entry. No one has any greater right. IME, if a car’s behind me into corners, several in a row, it’s quicker and I’ll go out of my way to let it past. My ego is not big enough to prevent me from being overtaken.

I agree ... there's something to be learned from trying to follow ... so long as they don't fall-off
These are good points to make
Circuit driving should quickly ensure you know tha capabilities of you and your car. I’m always more than prepared for
faster cars and happy to use indicators to move off line. However
I don’t appreciate Gt3’s passing on long straights only
to go slow in twisty bits

Agree. Broader point is, no matter whether your are extremely fast or extremely slow, so have equal right to be on circuit, but in neither case should your pace be to the detriment of others. Consideration works all ways round.
Does anyone know if there is an option that gets rid of that plasticy chequer plate style front corner of the dash/big flat bit above glove box and substitutes it for leather? It seems to be on every GT3 I've looked at but on the RS you can either have it as leather or race-tex. I think it looks really tacky and it's also on the top of the door trim.
As opposed to this in the RS:

Buckets are the best seats - also for long distances. My back hurts badly in the sofas after latest one hour. In the buckets (folding or otherwise) I can do five to six hours in one go and feel fresh afterwards

I think this is very much a personal choice. Part hieght, part padding (or lack of) and also pert injury/age related issues.
Personally, I can drive 3-4hrs straight in the narrow Carrera GT type, fixed back carbon buckets. I can appreciate how or why not everyone would.

Agreed. But I think your body shape dictates whether the buckets work for you or not - I frequently did 4-5 hour trips without a break, only stopped when I needed fuel.
I wouldn’t consider one, Touring or otherwise, without buckets.

Greens have (rightly IMO) become very popular. Local detailed has done a few recently, including a 718 and a very nice 992 Touring.
O/T never understood (other than pigment is apparently more expensive) why JLR ditched green other than as an expensive special option. Make green great again.

Green is hugely popular currently and quite rightly .

I think that’s perforated leather and on the touring only
That would make a lot more sense, I couldn't tell it was leather from the photos, maybe it doesn't look as tacky in real life. I've yet to view one as I'm only toying with the idea of buying one at the moment but doubt I could get a build slot so it would have to be a delivery miles car.

A bit of a Puerta Banus colour, or perhaps a track day only colour if being kind. Still, with <2K miles it’s probably only done a couple of weekends away.
I’m not sure why you’d take a build slot for a touring and then paint it up like it’s a Christmas decoration. A distinctly individual choice and so not what I’d expect for a car purchased with the intention of a very short ownership period.
It's clearly been photoshopped onto the official looking Porsche background. I'd much rather see honest photo's of a car rather than ones that have been doctored.

Wheels and brake setup obviously not but even the wheels are responsibly close.
Just curious, what’s so terrible looking about it apart from the given it’s not a real gt3..

I think what you’re saying is that the 992 is the least good looking of all the GT3s and I’d agree. It is the newest, fastest and had the biggest spoiler though.

Look in extra features, PCCB clearly listed.
That is stunning. It does look like the 992.1 is holding its money, especially if it has bucket seats, PCCB and PTS. Both the manual and PDK are popular. To be fair they are incredible cars and at £175k considerably less than the very similar 992.2 that has a digital dial and heated seats? Not sure I can justify the additional cost, yet..

Colour really needs to be seen in the flesh to be appreciated as it can be burgundy/merlot to black depending on the light. I've never seen that colour before on a Porsche.

I'm confused, is that to say you've never ordered dark coloured cars ? Or are you suggesting/telling others they shouldn't ?
I'd have thought that most ordering a 991.2 or 992 GT3 Touring would be speccing somewhat more muted/discrete hues, whereas those speccing GT3/GT3 RS/GT4 RS/Spyder RS would be doing the polar opposite.
You however, appear to have conflated the two : A discrete colour with the crashed through Halfords shop front look
(that's an observation,
not
a criticism, we all like different things)
IF I were to order a Boxster Spyder RS it's look would be more akin to this stunning example (solely to hide the plethora of plastic and carbon fibre components thrown at the exterior) :
Likewise this 992 GT3 Touring looks stunning without appearing to be "trying too hard".
Ditto this 911.2 GT3 Touring
As ever, each to their own
