Suggestion

Saying that in this market, I imagine you wouldn't get much change from $70-80k or even higher...depending on the sellers optimism

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just sold my 718GTS manual and want to get into a good manual 996.1. I haven't been following the market values for a while and they seem to be overpriced to me. What should I expect to pay for a beautiful clean local delivered car with low mileage. I want something original, clean, excellent condition.

POST 2Original post

The old "How long is a piece of string?" saying is apt when it comes to values v prices v actual sales mate, yet I agree that most nice 996's do seem to be overpriced in my opinion. Others are more well versed with 996's to answer your question better than I can, yet like all cars, especially Porsches, it all depends on the condition of the cars, service records and how optimistic the sellers are...and how many are available at any given time. Saying that in this market, I imagine you wouldn't get much change from $70-80k or even higher...depending on the sellers optimism

POST 3Original post

Only one data point, but this is the best one I've seen sell in a while, back in March ... It looked pretty immaculate and sold in a couple days, so probably not too far off the asking price.

POST 4Original post

Having sold a 996.1 C2 manual earlier in the year, I'd say $65-$75 for a very good, lower km car with IMS done.  I got low $60s for my 2001 with 165,000kms I think it was, replacement Porsche supplied engine at 95,000kms in 2011 (so no IMS issue).  Car had 2 sets of wheels and ducktail spoiler etc supplied but not yet fitted

POST 5Original post

Probably not too relevant now, however I sold my 1999 C1 manual with GT3 aerokit and GT3 suspension with LN oil fed IMS upgrade, for $70,000  just over 2 years ago.  Was probably more than I expected but don't think you would get a good one for much less these days.

POST 6Original post

bought my japanese import 996.1 c2 (left hand drive, tip, circa grade 3-4, 165,000kms) for $30k about 5 months ago - needed about 5-6k spending to refresh suspension etc ... i did all the work myself though so perhaps double it for a workshop to do the work ... am planning to manual swap it and budgeting about $6k to import a gearbox & other parts

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ok thanks for the info. I am purchasing a 2000-996C4 atm and was just checking in to see if I am over[ayign, but it seems that I am not getting a bargain but also paying market price.

POST 8Original post

Prices for the 996.1 and 996.2 have risen substantially in the last 12-18 months. C4S prices as well as the turbos have been insane. Lots of YouTube video's talking this up as 996's being the new cool platform given the limited number of electronic additions. I know I am very happy to be in my 996.2 C4S at the moment and still looking for a decent 996 turbo.

POST 9Original post

Ya I bought mine last year and prices have def gone up. Import autos are still really cheap tho. Aus delivered manuals I haven't seen one advertised for less than low 70s in the last 6 months.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I bought mine for $84k. Probably overpaid a bit but it’s a nice clean example. Still seems good value in comparison to every other model.

POST 11Original post

July 2024 I paid 78K for C2 manual that wasn't Silver

POST 12Original post

prices now in 80s it seems.  more mileage etc in 70s but work to do.  pristine are pushing to 6 figures.

POST 13Original post

Can't believe prices have moved that $10-$15k in last 6 months....

POST 14Original post

I bought mine in 2021 and whilst I probably paid under market, it has doubled in value with the biggest move in the last 6-12 months

POST 15Original post

EVERYTHINGS gone up 15-20%. 997 C2S's were 100-110, now 140, 991.1 C2s's north of 200.

POST 16Original post

Well I don't mind the 991.1 C2S at that 😉 🙂 .  There looks to be quite a lot below that that haven't sold though......

POST 17Original post

Someone hitting the pipe down at Lorbek's with this price? https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1998-porsche-911-carrera-996-manual/OAG-AD-26315281/?Cr=0

POST 18Original post

But it comes with 2 keys mate. Thats worth the asking price alone! Looks bloody clean and has to be the lowest km 996 I've seen, yet was the bodykit fitted from the factory being as its "totally original as ordered"? And be careful what you say about certain caryards, as they take people to court for slander...aledgedly 🤔

POST 20Original post

Ha!  I actually think it’s not that far off….leaving some haggle room.  Reckon it’ll seem cheap in a couple years time.

POST 21Original post

Yeah, don't doubt it will one day. Yeah the interior especially looks like it's brand new. I assume the 996.2 GT2 (I think?) wing couldn't be an original option, but might be a genuine part?

POST 22Original post

As nice as it is, I just can't do savannah beige @JWM It's like someone set off a savannah beige paint bomb!

POST 23Original post

I'm thinking about selling my turbo, which can only mean one thing.  As soon as it's sold the market is going to go nuts.  The clock's ticking to get a 996 whilst they're still cheap 🤪

POST 24Original post
