Looks like it was the Bergsport which sounds interesting - but we aren’t getting it in the UK.

I see your rear numberplate mounting plinth has the 4 screws at each corner; i requested no plinths to be fitted but it still came from the factory with both front and rear plinths fitted with the 4 screws at each corner.

If you're basing it on when you click through to the configurator from the listing, you'll need to re-add PCCB and coloured callipers back onto the configurator spec, due to the discontinuation/changes made to the MY26>MY27 PCCB options which strikes those off when you click through.

Configuration is not open yet for the car, so questions whether the buckets are adjustable (not just foldable) remain unclear, but I think everybody agreed, that the Gen .2 car is very much an exercise in offering something new within the ever increasing legislative boundaries which in my biased view doesn‘t make the Gen .2 car a „must“ There is this wonderful French saying: „Plus ça change plus c‘est la même chose“ I think that is pretty much where we are with the facelifted GT3.

My biggest issue is the asking price of circa £180k for the 991.2 touring v the value of a non touring or getting into a 992.1……I also think that Porsche manage to polish things somewhat by the time they get into .2 revisions.

Which is relatively ok if it's possible to do with a single button-press, but no-one has yet described the actual procedures to do so in a 992.2
Every time I get in my BMW I press the off button for Stop/Start and I do it without thinking. It's when stuff is built into screen menus or requires multiple steps it's a hassle.

Which is exactly what's required on a 992.2, it involves a good few screens of the touch display to swith the nanny aids off. Looks a right faff, EVERY TIME you start the engine.
Every generation improves, but as Chris Harris said in his 2021 review of the 992 GT3, 500 HP is sufficient for anyone. I hope the new car goes to people who want to drive it, rather than to those looking to make a profit for the dealer or to flip it. Let's wait and see.

Not true.. yes, you need to de-activate every time (it’s the law) but it’s just two buttons once the car is configured properly. One for the speed stuff, and one for the lane keep. If that’s enough for you to not consider a new GT3 then that’s great. One less person in the queue
I wonder will this be the first new GT3 which is quicker than the previous RS (not that it really matters) but from memory Porsche have always made the new gt3 quicker than the previous RS, for me, i dont think that’s possible this time!!
If they do and there's room for a driver, passenger and luggage ... the existing RS might be seen as a failure !
P.S. The 992 GT3 is not faster than the 991.2 GT3RS ... but both are "faster" than the 992 GT3RS ... in terms of top speed

Im talking Nurburgring lap times. The supposed “holy grail”
What do people think is the possibility of being able to get an allocation considering the lower overs prices now deterring flippers? And what is the best way of going about this, is it just a case of ringing around? Is it better to do this before it’s released? Appreciate that in any case it likely would be a year at least as they will all likely have a list of preferred customers.
I think people aren’t really inclined to pay significant over when the car probably isn’t going to offer much more than the previous 2 iterations. Surely there will still be plenty of people wanting to place an order, but with a bit of patience an allocation should be easier to secure this time. Buying a used OPC GT3 first might be a good way to grease the wheels.
Ok, so the touring version can now be configured with 4 seats! I’ll be sending in my configuration and awaiting the let down, but perhaps this time there is a chance.
Same here.
GT3 Touring allocation will be too rare. I don’t understand why a winged GT3 can’t have a rear seat though. That would be my ideal.
GT3 manual, rear seats.
Kids to church on Sunday, track day on Monday. (To paraphrase the TopGear line on the Maloo)

Touring should have always had the rear seat option.
Plus, a more compliant ‘road biased’ suspension, especially in the UK.
Evo mentions it has S/T suspension hardware and tuning, so may be a better road-car.
At last Porsche have given the
Touring
the detailed attention it has always deserved - not just a deleted spoiler.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PrWV6Kn55Bg
I was a little nonplussed by the mainstream 992.2, but the new ‘Touring’ seems to be a genuine step forward, despite the tech.
It will doubtless be in big demand, and initially hard to get, but Porsche are commercially savvy and I suspect it will eventually be produced in sufficient numbers to flatter the balance sheet.
And, possibly, a ‘win-win’ for enthusiasts, as the previous gen ‘Tourings’ could shed value in the market place.

I agree ... all of a sudden the Touring makes sense ...
Does it steal the ST's glory ?

I think so. It's a lot less at list let alone S/T premiums, it lacks the SMFW but can have 4 seats. That's an easy trade off for the win.

What was base price on 992.1?
The Carwow vid is on YouTube and he said it was £128k, so £30k uplift. If you want the touring with lightweight pack it’s another £30k.
PinkHouse said:
It's more like 97.5% of an ST
For marketing reasons they have to say it's less than an ST, but given it has the ST suspension and gearing, loses the lightweight flywheel (which can be awkward) but gains rear seats and rear-wheel steering, I'd say it's 105% of an ST for most people.
Porsche have even taken the trouble to say that only nanny aids that are legally required, are fitted. Well done for the short cut to disable them ... clearly Porsche are listening and respect to them for this ...
If the 992.2 GT3RS also can have the folding bucket seats, this car also starts to be a more realistic option. If so, does the standard GT3 get squeezed between the Touring and the RS ??
Or does one need both ???
P.S. The new exhaust system with cats and particulate filters is looking very complicated ...
I have one of the early 992 GT3 Tourings and have done 20k km in it. The car is brilliant and I wouldn’t change it for the new 992GT3/2 for the changes they have made. But for a new purchaser, the new version addresses most issues of the 1st version.
- Clear differentiation to the winged version
- foldable buckets
- rear seats
“Technical improvements” such as gear ratios are only there to compensate for ever increasing regulatory demands.
It is still raw and (too) loud for touring purposes though.

Nope it STARTED at c£128k in 2021 on launch but the last 992 GT3s were c£146500 basic.
Tbh don't think an £11k increase for the new 992.2 over the 992.1 is ott.
Will be interesting to see how many people with be swapping their Gen 1 for a Gen 2 model this time around, what with interest rates being as they are, and likely having to put another 40/50/60/70k into the deal as early Gen 1 are only getting 130k trade.
Great cars, and would still love to own one at some point, but just don't see the improvement in the 'non touring' whereas the rest of the range has moved on, making for example the GTS which is 20/30k cheaper (spec'd) a fundamentally quicker car.

I’ve just spent a week driving round Europe with a few mates…one of whom brought his ST. I think the lightweight flywheel is a very big part of the cars character…the way the engine revs and the sound.
I am sure someone will be offering retrofit at some stage but until they do I think the ST has got a USP that defines it.
Yesterdays calls. 2 UK dealers that know me in the Ferrari part of the group said no chance, then 1 said doable if taking a stock 992 .1 Touring of the floor by end of month. Called my Brazil dealer and can have a May or June slot. Oh the UK games..
Makes me think that the 992.1 Tourings might be a pretty soft market going forward, between less made & more road compliant 991.2 Touring, and the Rear Seat Folding Buckets more S/T ride 992.2 Touring..

Sadly these are the games they are used to playing and appear to see no wrong in treating their customers this way.
Life appears to be getting harder for these opc due there being brand new, unallocated gt4rs listed for sale.
It’ll be really interesting to see how this actually plays out once cars are available to order. Peak demand obviously will be at the start so it’s understandable that they are continuing along the themes or difficult to get allocations however I think that the production runs are normally 2.5 years (ish) so once those orders are fulfilled, how will the market look. Realistically there will be a lot of buyers that won’t be interested if there are no overs to be had - or possibly even standard depreciation.
I personally would love one - realistically in around 18months would be ideal for me however I also would want the opportunity to spec it as a long term keeper.

I think I’d agree with that, but the changes for the gen 2 992 really make me think about it hard. I’m going to be in the market for a GT3 in the next 12mths, and the new Touring with the rear seats would tick all the boxes, but I have no buying history so very likely no chance of getting one. I think with these being launched so early in the models lifetime that the build run could be at least 2.5 to 3 years, that's a lot of cars, the market has softened, interest rates are high and there isn't likely to be an overs market.
With all this I reckon if you want a new one at list you will get one. You might need to wait a bit until all the special customers have had there's but with the speculation market gone there will be plenty to go around.

The 992.1 just didn't feel as well made to me as the 991.2 when I sat in it but Porsche always improve their gen 2 and from what i could see the new gen 2 992 GT3 has a better quality interior with new rear seats and new front heated front folding buckets. Also one switch to turn off nannies a nice touch.

Just sold mine, couldn’t drive it as I should have at 6k miles…would do ££. I would jump into this Touring as sublime in that green. Very doubtful on allocation though.

What does it REALLY offer from the .1?
In the case of the Touring (finally) it looks like quite a lot. However, full UK road tests will provide a more credible judgement, although these could be some time away.

Well, a less powerful engine, higher fuel consumption, more weight, more muted sound, nanny assists, and if you really want the ST suspension tune on your .1 then you can download it via Rennlist…
So personally I can’t see much reason to upgrade mine to a .2…. (Unless the road tests are stellar! lol )

I agree. Once the initial hype has settled and the special customers have their cars, then enthusiasts will be able to order these. It might be 2 years away but it will happen.
As pointed out, the new 992.2 GT3 will, not too long after launch, start to depreciate. So the YouTubers and speculators will count themselves out of the market once depreciation starts to become a reality.
Porsche haven’t missed out on the opportunity to capitalise on the overs market by ramping up the RRP plus making WP / LWP an extra 30 grand. These cars are easy to spec to 200 grand which is a lot for a non-RS GT3 which will probably be built in decent numbers in time.

Sure..

But looks like you’ll lose some sharpness and responsively to turn-in so some are on the fence about the change..

My thoughts exactly, though personally this is irrelevant as I don't have 200k to drop on a lightweight spec touring. Which is a shame as its lovely.
In the meantime I'll make do with my 991 Carrera S, peasant that I am.

I agree. Once the initial hype has settled and the special customers have their cars, then enthusiasts will be able to order these. It might be 2 years away but it will happen.

Totally agree but some still seem to think they will flip at 300+
Not a chance.
Great news on the "nanny sytem off" button (now we only need someon hardcoding this into the SW on startup) and reintroduction of the folding buckets. The fixed back buckets are the biggest issue I have with my 2.1 Touring. The back is so difficult to access and use, which it shouldn't be in a Touring

Personally I can’t see these being flipped at 300k, I’m sure a few will try but actually finding a punter who will part with their cash at level could be few and far between.
It’s scary to think a non RS 911 can now be specified to 200k new.
Filppers and speculators to thank for that!
Porsche deciding to take that money for themselves.
We’ll now see who the real customers are.
OTOH…. Good news for Porsche back catalogue. Plenty of room to play in.
Hopefully people will buy now instead of bleating.

The OPC encouraged the flipping, we all know they made huge profit on GT cars come resale time. They were the ones controlling future new GT car allocations and crazy nearly new asking prices.

+1. But I have heard that BMW are considering halving their approved dealer network despite many being invited to build new showrooms at massive cost to the dealerships ... anybody else heard this and could Porsche do the same ??

Would allow certain car manufacturers to have greater control and higher profit margins!
Definitely a £400K flip. Plenty of footballers out there (who'd drop £100K on a casino night out) with kids who they can now cart around with them. (Touring model that is)

BMW are changing to the agency model next year like Mercedes which will hammer the dealerships and their ability to make margin. Mini first followed by BMW.
You may well find lots of dealerships fall by the wayside.
Not good news for us punters either.
It seems to be the way the market is going.
So you order direct from the manufacturer and collect from the nearest agent who is paid accordingly ?
Many Teslas are (were ?) collected from a large collection point at the NEC ... Tesla have taken out the middle man for a very long time, Lotus ?
etc.
Yep Lotus Emiras ordered online through HQ Hethel so subject to distance selling regs and unbelievably subsequently cancelled online with all the cars major issues even when the car(s) were physically built and ready for collection.
Their shrinking dealerships are broadly clueless anyway tried the agency model but failed miserably.
If ever there was a lesson on how NOT to promote and launch a new car(and a stunning looking one at that) the Lotus Emira is it.
Physical dealerships may be expensive but they have their benefits on many levels as Porsche have proved very successfully.
No new tyres / resurfacing / front suspension / more downforce / braver drivers / power/torque / less drag / ... so no new lap time, yet ?
It's interesting that they offer the rear seats back in the Touring but as standard there are no rear seats in the 992.2 911 GTS (for a headline weight ??).
All these games

There was some fuss at the launch about 8% shorter ratios for the new car.
First question is, is this reduction in both the PDK and manual? In the Chris Harris vid I watched they were discussing it on the manual Touring.
Secondly, assuming the reduction is also on the PDK, how does this compare to the PDK ratios in the 4RS?
If I understood correctly, it’s both pdk and manual, 18% not 8, thanks to shorter final ratio (differential, not to be confused with final gear).
Happy to be proven wrong!

8% shorter final drive ratio for both PDK and Manual.
4RS overall gearing remains shorter still as it is also only running a 20inch wheel.
991 3RS and 992 GT3 run 21inch rear.

Yes 991.2 3RS ratios… but with a 20inch wheel, instead of 21inch.
So 718RS remains shortest of all.

Rear Axle Ratios:
992.1 3RS has 4.188 (4.19) with 21inch rear wheel
992.1 S/T has 4.30 with 21inch rear wheel
992.2 GT3 is same as S/T
718 RS has 4.17 with 20inch rear wheel

I’m assuming the overall wheel/tyre diameter is 1” bigger as well then?
Have they literally just shortened the rear axel ratio across all the gears? The gearbox set is the same as the outgoing car?
Do these shorter rear axel ratios mean that top speed has come down too?

Not sure the GT3s topspeed is gearing limited, I'd assume it is power limited given the aero drag. The Touring's topspeed is 2 km/h higher than the winged version's.
So the 992.2 Touring really is very close to the ST.
+ RWSteering
- Light weight flywheel and clutch.
But does (might) the Lightweight option include this ?
I think the 992.2 is a better looking car than the 992.1 with its very large black hole at the front ...
LWFW + Clutch is NOT available on Touring or in the Liechtbau package (LP). S/T exclusive, as is roll cage.
You can, however, buy S/T parts for LWFW + Clutch and retro fit into 992.1 - few people stateside have done this.

Is it just me that's totally underwhelmed by the .2 version (both GT3 & Touring)?
What does it REALLY offer from the .1?
Well, a less powerful engine, higher fuel consumption, more weight, more muted sound, nanny assists, and if you really want the ST suspension tune on your .1 then you can download it via Rennlist…
So personally I can’t see much reason to upgrade mine to a .2…. (Unless the road tests are stellar! lol )
Agree. 4 cats and more weight. The 4 new features of note are the extra gearbox cooling for those who use their GT3 on track, more brake cooling and one switch to quickly switch off the nannies. The folding buckets and rears nice too. In your shoes I would not be upgrading a 992.1 GT3/Touring for those four extra features for £30k to £50k plus list price plus whatever depreciation (if any) on your gen 1 GT3 depending on if you spec LW or W packs. Doesn't make sense if you got your GT3s at list being 991.2 or 992.1.
Porche now following the usual VW corpoarte philosophy of taking production costs out of the car whilst charging substantially more list price for the facelift. Indicators and leds all into single headlamp units all cost saving. Not being bothered to differentiate the 992 GT3 facelift with a different rear spoiler like all previous GT3 facelifts again just to save production costs IMO.
Its good Porsche are now charging what they can actually sell a GT3 for rather than discounting the GT3 heavily and making it invitation only to those that fit into the old Porsche game. A sign of harder times even for Germany's most profitable car manufacturer per unit?

Well said.
I just spent 2 days with Porsche in Misano on the track and needless to say we had numerous discussions about the Gen .2 car.

Yes thanks guys, it certainly seems an exercise fiddling while Rome burns, however the good thing will be that more people can buy one, without playing the usual silly dealer games!
Meanwhile in other parts of the VW empire things are moving forward, I’ve just been driving the new Urus SE in Tuscany, and it’s a quantum leap forward over the previous models. I don’t think that hybrids in a SUV is such an issue compared to super cars imo.

Well it’s worth asking, but I suspect that after the initial ‘rush’, you’ll be able to get one in a similar way to how the GT4 RS is now available..

cant see huge overs for this gt3, if any. i was having a chat with a very well respected indy the other day and he suggested very little overs on the winged car and a maybe somewhere between 20-25k on initial tourings cars with rear seats. he said the party is over for porsche as too many people have had their fingers burnt over the last couple of years having bought cars at silly overs and lost a fortune. add to that the over production of cars and he thinks plenty will available to normal buyers.
obviously dealers are going to maintain the "for our best customers" bs as long as they can, but you just have to look at the number of new spyder rs sat around for months to see those best customers are nowhere to be seen.
As it now transpires those best customers are the ones who are being most used by their OPC who are the only ones who "could not lose" ... and it appears had the most to gain ???
ChrisW. said:

Sadly a few customers have been spun the BS line over the last year that if they buy X Y and Z from there opc that they will get certain GT product to use for free and sell on, now only to find out that isn’t the case.
Transparency isn’t always what it seems.
I expected a lot from the recent spy shots and blurb around the 992.2 GT3. 992.2 GT3 Touring is the only one that excites me, but 'trading up' from a 992.1 GT3 for the extra cost doesn't make man-maths sense. Those who already have 992.1 GT3s are expected to keep them.
The new front bumper is a good example of cost reduction.
The plastic centre air conveyor has been eliminated, previously available grained or painted, now replaced by 2 smaller side finishers, that can be painted. Overall look down to me painted vs painted.
It’s ok with carbon side finishers, yet the exposed central area of the bumper look somehow raw and unfinished.
When will the GT3 configurator be going live?
Why release a car and not have the configurator set up, can you order a Gen 2 GT3?
My OPC says not until the configurator is live>

They are
THE
best at increment enhancement.
They are indeed, but this time its a bit different, they have really struggled to meet the demands of Euro 7 Regs and have done well to produce the car at all!
No increase in BHP and Torque down
Weight up
Lower ratios to offset the above
Even if the car is no better than the 992.1, that's actually a superb effort considering the constraints. How many other brands are releasing NA, high revving, manual sports cars?
The lack of Ring lap time speaks volumes.
However, remember that this is likely to be the last 'pure' GT3. Who knows where we go from here!

It’s going to be interesting when allocations drop. Will there be an expectation around timepieces, and with new car tax doubling in April it could be rrp plus £15k in taxes…..

I’ve got a 991.2 GT3 I’ve owned since new. I’ve “put my name down” for a 992.2 Touring (I’ll only get one if they run out of buyers as I’ve not bought anything off them for a few years). There are times when I would use it more if it was a bit more “discreet” (mine is Lava Orange and has a Wing) and I could get both kids in and/or some more luggage space.
Should have ticked the Touring box back in 2018 quite possibly…but at the time I wanted the “full on” GT3.
Much prefer the looks of the 991.2 and also the fact it hasn’t got a GPF !

They have not made much of a effort on the 2 version,as per the video with standard front end, less torque, heavier and possibly slower.
The touring version looks a better revision with rear seats etc

I really don't think getting one will be an issue this time, the price has gone up to about £200k for a specced up one, interest rates on car finance are ridiculous at the moment, high end cars are depreciating and lots of enthusiasts with earlier GT3's will possibly look at keeping their existing cars as the incremental improvements are fairly minor.
Add all this together and the speculation market won't be touching them which should leave plenty for people who really want one.
Buyers will just have to expect some depreciation like the old days.
The counterbalance to depreciation is that when you specify YOUR car, it's a keeper.
Since most of the depreciation is in the early years, the longer it's kept the better value it is ...
Of course that may not please the OPC, but times change !

Absolutely, it's great news for the genuine Porsche enthusiast that wants a new GT3 rather than the people looking for an investment wrapper or tax free profit flip.
I expect the OPC sales staff are getting concerned they might have to actually do some sales work.

Fully agree. The upgrades in terms of looks and performance versus the higher price hike and current economic environment make zero sense for current owners. Of course, there will be genuine buyers who don't have one will get one, but it's a good thing, as greedy speculators or mates of dealers have less incentive now to barge in.
Hmmm. Pondering thoughts on here re the new Touring. Have a 991.2 Touring and love it, apart from 2 points - 1) I’d prefer comfort seats, and 2) I’d like a quieter car when cruising. I still love the touring when I’m ‘on it’ but like to cover serious mile journeys (into Europe) with the missus and it’s just that bit too noisy to make for easy conversation at 80-90mph. Will the newer car be less noisy or should I stick with the Touring and go back to a stock exhaust (from JCR back box)?
The idea of back seats (even though i don’t have kids of that age anymore, I assume it’ll act a bit like more sound deadening and look nicer?) and lower gearing both appeal to me.
So, should I trade for a 2.2? Dealer is pretty confident he’ll be able to get me on to an allocation a little later in the order cycle.
I’ve got a 992.1 GT3 winged car, but touring spec - PDK, 18 way seats and PCCB. It’s a great daily. I’m struggling to find the justification to persue a 992.2, bearing in mind the watch tax, increased cost and year 1 RFL 100% increase.

Yes I think most people that are serious buyers who want to “own it to drive it” will get one. They will deliver a lot of cars like they did with 992.1….plenty of cars to go around.
I will have to write a big cheque to get a 992.2…probably £70k or more.

Interesting you say that, as it’s not been my experience in 991.1 I find it very good at euro road tripping, it’s all I’ve used it for over 14k miles. I don’t find it too noisy (I have a sharkwerks center delete) and leave it in loud mode. I can listen to audio books (sound package plus) I usually cruise in the 150-160 range (when on private roads!) with passenger (admittedly not the mrs!) conversations are fine. I’ve got PS4S tyres fitted, so maybe they are quieter than cup 2’s if you have them?
I’m not sure I would change a 991.2 for a 992.2. 991 has a much simpler / prettier design I think .
Perhaps standard exhaust and PS4s is the answer. Buy some comfort seats (assuming you can swap) keep the buckets for resale.

I doubt very much that the 992.1 GT3 Touring is quieter than the 991 version. I have the 992 GT3 Touring at it is louder than my 991.1 GT3 RS by quite a bit, if that is something to go by. However, over time (I have had the 992 for 3 years and driven 20k km in it) the sound has become more plesant and less aggressive - especially if you switch it in PDK Sport. In „Normal“ it has a tendency to drone inside the cabin hence I switch to Sport as soon as I get into the car. At over 4000 rpm however it is loud. Full stop.
Interesting ... but not yet driven.
Legislation is clearly having an adverse effect ... all I would say is that if anything is going to slow the depreciation on existing cars, this is it.
No nanny aids to turn off, more of the analogue that most like, less to go wrong, lower cost RFL after the sixth year, plus ?
The new GT3 that makes most sense now is a manual Touring with the rear seat option, lift ... and a very few more things to taste, hence existing Tourings and to a lesser extent ST's may hold their value a little less well but ???
What do we think ?

I am sticking with my 991.2. I still think it's a great all round gt product.
The S/T will cools off a little eventually but will still remain in the 300ks or high 200ks just like the 991R before it.
Limited production, CFRP body panels and a host of S/T exclusive bits that no other 992 will have in this combination. So it is safe.
‘Normal’ 992.1 touring will take a move down a bit there are so many of them and as they superseded by the 992.2 which has everything and every improvement everyone has ever asked for from a Touring. Short gearing, backseats, better ride.
The only problem is the jump in price… which does allow a bit of breathing room in the used space.

Think I read on here recently there were only 136 manual 992.1 Tourings in the UK..? (Happy to be corrected).
ETA 'How many left' have 136 registered full stop, both manual & PDK.

Thanks - I agree re the tyres. I’ve run PS4’s before and they are quieter than my current Cup2’s. I’ll defo change the exhaust back. Agree also re the looks - the 991 is more resolved and less busy. Also looks less bulbous. My son is adamant I should keep the 991 Touring. Perhaps he’s right. I’ll run it for another year and reflect - hopefully with a little less noise. by the way, the Bose is the worst I’ve used (and I’ve had in a few).

Could well be! Other than my own GT3s and at OPCs I’ve only ever seen a couple on the road.
Yes that is odd , very rarely see others on the road , done130k miles in Gt3 and Rs cars myself and in early days 964-996 you saw more on the roads even though the later cars are much better daily drivers .

Is the 992 GT3 ever going to be added to the UK configuration, or is it unobtainable so there is no point?
They’re opening the order books and the configurator on the same day. 2nd of December.
Ive got a 992.1 Touring and Ive got an allocation for a 992.2 Touring which Ill take up. Im not sure about the front design but the new rear is subtle but prettier to my eyes. The rear looks more like the 991.2 Touring. All this is subjective and there is no real reason for anyone to change from the current Touring as its a masterpiece. That said the more compliant suspension and the folding, heated seats will make it easier to live with. Ive no idea what values will do and that doesn't concern me as Im an enthusiast who like to drive my cars but my local OPC has had 60 requests for the new car in the week it launched and they think they will get 2 or 3 Touring allocations. Read into that what you will. Thank god Porsche are still making these cars because threading a GT3 of any era down a road is a very special thing.
Its arrived. Dark Sea Blue over Cohiba. Much more compliant than the .1 and better for it. Specced for daily use and Euro trips. Seems much more sorted for daily Touring use. Little things like the rear diffuser doesn't catch on the bump of my drive like the .1 did. Carbon wipers such unecessary beauty. Can t stop looking at them. SS seats much better for daily duties too (put tin hat on!)

What a lovely thing, those carbon blades are an indulgence but I get it. I’d be interested to know more about how the car differs from the .1 in terms of everyday usage, as that’s a key issue for me. Is the .2 so much more user friendly for U.K. roads and would it be bearable all year round doing 6k pa?

Thanks Blue62. Porsche always do this. They say they have made little incremental differences but in reality they add up to a different driving experience. My .1 had buckets, manual and cup 2 s. This one has SS seats, manual and PZ4 s. Dealer swapped to road tyres for me. It s feels very different to the .1. The .1 was mega, a really lovely car but very nervous steering, stupid harsh suspension for a daily and fidgety. This one is much more compliant, more relaxed steering and comfortable. It s not GTS compliant but not far off and I ve had both. It s the Touring it always should have been. You could easily spec it to comfortably cover 6k mile pa. One final point, it s not a soft car. It s full on, it s just more usable on UK roads.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. It’s good for thought, I’ve never owned a GT car and it’s an itch, but I am really impressed with my .1 T and reckon that the latest car will probably suit my needs better. I’ve just been offered an allocation on a Touring which is why I’m agonising over it. Appreciate your honesty, though it leaves me a little stranded!!!

Love the colour combination - of course I’d choose buckets - but that looks lovely and the leather seat backs are a nice touch.

Great description. It seems to address some of the more track focussed issues with the .1. I have the .1 and it is too hardcore for a daily driver. The seats (918 buckets) look great but after a couple of hours you crave the adjustability and it is very loud in the cabin. The steering in the .1 as you commented i find great but then I don't live in the UK. I also switch to SPORT-mode instantly as in normal mode it has a droning noise which is irritating.

I think thats a great car if all you care about is how it drives and goes down the road.
Perfect for a driving. Only thing that I would have really said it should have that it doesn’t is FAL, but thats just me.
I've got a live search of number of different porsche models on the OPC used car website, including one for 992.2 GT3 with a few options. I've got an allocation for a new car now, so won't be buying used, but the sheer number of nearly new cars hitting the market is somewhat surprising. There's barely a day without an email about 1 or 2 new listings. That's a lot of people, massive as a percentage of new registrations, who are not keeping these cars very long and it does make me wonder what's going on with the market.

I wonder if it's that these aren't overs cars any more. I think it's pretty clear there will be more 992.2s than of any other GT3 model, and the experience of Spyder RS shows that the market gets a bit of indigestion as a car transitions away from being worth overs

Got my heart set on a new 992.2 GT3 as my last ICE car, specced a car on the configurator.
Sent off the build to all the surrounding OPCs, a few called the next day to advise the usual no allocation except for loyal customers etc.
Couple said they will put my details into their system, and will get in touch if there is anything changes.
I was very lucky to get an allocation for my recently sold 718 GT4 without any previous purchases.
I know getting a slot for a GT3 will be even harder, so I m not getting my hopes up.
Realistically will any OPC offer build slot to a new customer?

Yes, it is known to happen: if you work closely with some of the sales team and they see you're serious, they will eventually put your name forward for an allocation.

Not too long ago I was offered a slot for a winged car (I wanted a touring) from a dealer I don’t have much of a relationship with. I’m a long term 911 buyer but I don’t think that carries any weight, or ever did, just keep pushing as the market is changing and I reckon you’ll get there.

I find the configurator an absolute minefield and it has been some time since ive specced a new Porsche. Particular keen to hear if the yellow stitching is too much, but kind of thought it matched in with the calipers.... Many thanks.

I had an Agate 992.1 GT3 Touring on which I specced Speed Yellow stitching. It wasn't OTT, and I really liked it. The Racing Yellow you've specced will probably match the callipers very well, as well as the yellow lettering on the gear shifter
Personally I think 911's look better without privacy glass but appreciate that I'm probably in the minority given how many that seem to have it
Otherwise I think it looks great, although I think Slate is a nicer grey than Vanadium. If you really want to spend more I'd consider tinted headlights and clear rear light bar
Enjoy finalising it all ahead of the wait

Of greater interest (to me) is the GT3 Touring seen testing yesterday complete with ducktail.
I looks genuine Porsche as its the official test driver behind the wheel, and the ducktail has similar air intakes designed into the area behind the rear windscreen a la 992 Sport Classic.
Will share some pics...
Looks like it was the Bergsport which sounds interesting - but we aren’t getting it in the UK.

Alarmingly close to the spec of the white GT3 Touring I took delivery of 2000 miles ago in May. So either fools seldom differ, or great minds think alike. You have the benefit of a leather steering column shroud with coloured stitching, which I really wanted, but wasn't available when I placed my order. The only notable difference from mine are:
18 way seats - I went with the ordinary ones and I'm really happy with them. It was close call, but the right one for me.
Got talked into HD headlights, I think I went with tinted. They turn out to be pretty amazing, and glad I got them.
I went with the posh fuel filler cap, as it makes refuelling seem special in my GT4 RS. Also works for the GT3, except more frequently, as it's hopelessly poor on fuel consumption!
I went for leather seat backs with coloured stitching, which I can't see as an option now. Really like that and I'm glad I spent what it cost. Makes the car seem more finished when I'm grabbing my lunch box from the back seat, or throwing the shopping in at the supermarket.
Privacy glass isn't for me, except in estate cars where it helps keep our dogs out of the sun.
Got to say, 3 months in, an amazing car, I love it. No one uninterested in cars really pays it a second glance. But then occasionally (twice, maybe 3 times so far I think) someone will ask if it's the latest GT3 Touring, and give a very appropriate compliment. (On a 2016 dated reg number to avoid anyone noticing I bought another new car...) I hope you love yours even half as much as I love mine. It's a seriously awesome piece of kit, on the road or on the track.

Looks great. If it were me I'd drop the privacy glass, and also drop the interior carbon. Maybe even add the yellow belts for a full contrast effect. Apart from that, I'd be good to go
FWIW, as somebody with the standard Headlights, I can comfortably say they are excellent. Unlike previous generations, the .2 standard units are powerful Matrix LED, so unless you do massive amounts of unlit road driving, save yourself the best part of £3k and stick with the standard units as you have specced. I also think the shape of the lighting in the standard units suit the car better.

Great spec, VGM has a lovely blue tinge in the sunlight that the other similar shades can't replicate. I hear it will be coming off the selection soon. Yellow stitching to match the (obligatory yellow) PCCBs is great and to complement it, i'd go with silver belts to match the exterior colour.
For a darker interior, i spec'd privacy glass to prevent the insides warming up on Euro trips but i do share the point about the lines being broken up. The upgraded headlights are incredible however and shouldn't be overlooked.
Other than that, i think that's a lovely car to have.
Just booked my Porsche experience day at Silverstone and paid the upgrade for the GT3. As far as I’m aware, they’ve only recently started offering the GT3, so I jumped at the chance to get 2.5 hours on track in one.
Are these still basically impossible to buy new? I’d absolutely love one, but I really can’t be bothered with playing the whole OPC game just to get my name down

as you are going contrast stitching its nice to amplify like you have with extra dashboard and steering column leather - what about Slats leather and air vents leather? Can you still select leather inner door sills?
Another ‘NO’ to the dark rear tints on a Touring.
As I recall, Chris Harris hated them so much on his BMW M2 CS, that he had BMW remove and replace them with the light tints .
Also, as mentioned above, having had several new Porsches with Adaptive Sports Seats (and Folding 918 Buckets), I personally now prefer the standard Sport Seat Plus. Cheaper and lighter and just as comfy.

Are these still basically impossible to buy new? I d absolutely love one, but I really can t be bothered with playing the whole OPC game just to get my name down
It's probably worth phoning around. People that play the OPC game are getting GT3 allocations, so if you find a dealer with one they haven't shifted yet they might be willing. I gather GT3 Touring allocations are harder to come by, but it must be high demand, as there seem to be quite a few new cars coming through for people.

Did I read correctly they are making more tourings than winged cars this time?
I heard that there'd be fewer Tourings vs Winged relative to the 992.1, but that was a couple of years ago when they were just gearing up for the .2, so things may well have changed

It's all a nonsense - lots of demand for a touring but no build slots available. But there are a few slots for cars with wings.
Is it just a boot lid swap or am I missing something significant?
Meanwhile the same Porsche who wont build what customers are asking for, or even take a future order, are reporting losses and huge revenue drop - make it make sense.

Respectfully, I don't understand the logic behind your comment. If you want a car, go and enquire. There is a difference between making the time (in person) and putting yourself out there for an allocation, versus buying a load of stuff you don't want. I did the former, not the latter, and got a winged car.
There's zero harm in putting your case forward. If it comes to fruition, you're where you want to be. Good luck!

Limited edition GT3 Bergsport to be announced Sept 1st
No ducktail in sight...
https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/2026/products/pors...
Reached out to my dealer and he advised against getting the car
I love doing early morning runs over mountain passes, so in principle this car should be right down my alley. HOWEVER, it is technically identical to the vanilla Touring - not even a ducktail or a shorter final drive. It only comes in one colour and interior spec - take it or leave it. The cherry on top is a rather ambitous price tag
It strikes me that Porsche are devaluing the brand with these ‘special editions’.
Traditionally, isn’t it what mainstream manufacturers do to boost sales when the market is flat?
Clearly, the GT3 is a profit centre for Porsche, but some of these models seem to have dubious extra merit.
I don’t think it needs overthinking. Porsche have always done special editions, anniversary editions, millennium editions, heritage editions…the list goes on.
It just this year they’re doing it on GT3s and are dividing them between markets.
I think we all know why: the previous CEO screwed up the product pipeline. So now Porsche have to lean on pricing much more than they have for the past 30 years. And they have to pump out a bunch of high margin, relatively cheap and easy to produce / identically specified GT3 specials (and probably other 911 specials to come) for premia over the build to order cars.
yes, not surprised - they pretty much announced this focus on higher margins cars when they announced the huge write-off. I do hope it works in the medium term.
And that is doesn't just undermine the GT3 market more than they have already undermined it by pumping the market on "overs".
The GT3 has become an expensive car where previously it was a higher performance variant of a sensibly priced luxury sports car.
The GT3 (and other Porsches) getting expensive is also a result of the GBP losing value vs. the EUR. Here in lovely Switzerland, GT3 prices have gone up a bit over the last 15 or so years but by likely less than (our low levels of) inflation. What makes the new models more expensive are mostly options that did not exist in the 997 days, e.g. carbon roofs, Weissach/Lightweight packages
I agree, all these parts cars is getting a little too much. However and to be fair, the associated costs of running a GT3 is (still) in our favour by comparison. Dare i say it, the warranty extension is frankly a bargain.
I appreciate the price of the GT3 has risen substantially, but the same is true across pretty much every other marque.
Is the GT3 really too expensive in today s market though?
What genuinely competes with it at a similar price point, offering the same combination of performance, usability, engineering and driver involvement?
What are the equivalents from McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes or Aston Martin, and what do they cost once realistically specified?
Or is the GT3 s closest competition actually from within Porsche itself?

Indeed - I paid slightly less for my GT4RS last year vs a 997 GT3 back in 2009... (admittedly that was with a discount on the GT4RS, but still)
They are still quite a bit more expensive than in the UK, though!

It's not over list. It's being sold at MY26 list price due to it being a MY26 build. If you're basing it on when you click through to the configurator from the listing, you'll need to re-add PCCB and coloured callipers back onto the configurator spec, due to the discontinuation/changes made to the MY26>MY27 PCCB options which strikes those off when you click through. This is because the configurator is now MY27.

Yup, looks like it, and I can't say I'm surprised. It was a £heavy spec, but a decent heavy spec which was always going to be appealing to somebody.
Used 992.1 and .2 prices seem a bit silly relative to list price.
No approved 991.2 for sale at the moment either.
Is a factory order GT3 (Touring) still unobtanium for a pleb like me with zero history?

I would suggest that would be the case, price bump as well. You might get a cancelled order..... but own spec is better
My OPC got a few for folk, playing silly buggers with me (good history - 3), might now keep the GT4

Wow: stunning!
I see your rear numberplate mounting plinth has the 4 screws at each corner; i requested no plinths to be fitted but it still came from the factory with both front and rear plinths fitted with the 4 screws at each corner.
Cheers. Kind comments for what is a dream car for me.
Apologies, can’t find original code but I remember getting so excited in bagging a PTS slot I went a bit loopy and ticked all and everything….
The fact the number plate plinths are now fixed at the factory is out of the dealer and PCGB hands. However the way they are attached is caveman DIY Dave and unforgivable. Luckily the front only has 2 small drill holes inboard which would be covered by the smaller but legal sized plate. The rear 4 holes are exposed either way; hopefully PPF may lessen somewhat.
I've really never understood the hate for numberplate plinths, they look "proper" to my eyes.
Shortened numberplate look chav, stick on ones look temporary, missing or tucked in the dash/sun visor is pointless.
It always looks to me like someone is trying to jump on the Lambo craze. Which I kind of get when the daft Italians design a car without any place for a numberplate but a 911 has the perfect position for it.
Anyway, that is some spec JF!

Ha I'm with you - if the plinths prevent some shortened plates its a plus IMHO
I agree and prefer to run with normal
acrylic legal font plates, however the new plinths really are massive. Especially on the rear.
Only positive I can see; the front would act as a decent impact barrier !!
The main gripe is how they are fixed to car now

When my car was delivered to the dealer in Feb, it arrived with the front plinth not attached. For all 992.2 GT3, the rear plinths were/are attached on the production line pre wrapping, but for UK cars the front plinth was/is supposed to be attached during PDI which for GT cars occurs on arrival at the OPC, and not at port like all other 992.2 models (which is why those arrive with the plinths fitted). I only know this because I specifically asked my dealer to check when it arrived, and make sure no plinth was screwed in. When I was invited to have a sneak peek they showed me the PDI process and the plinth fitment requirement.
Did you ever see your car still in it's wrapping? If not then unless the process has changed, I'd wager the car arrived without, and as part of the PDI the dealer has put it on, which is done at the same time as the front splitter being fitted etc. The plinth would have been in the frunk on arrival, and the splitter would have arrived in the car wrapped.

I’ve been told by my dealer that ALL cars, including GT3, now comes with the front plinth attached from the factory.

Oh. R.I.P hole-free front bumpers.
As I start to prep the car of it's winter comfort (less driving, and onto a trickle charger for most of its time), I just remembered my old trickle charger (CTEK MXS 5.0) which I used on my GT4 isn't suited with the battery on the GT3.
The Porsche charger recommended is seemingly the Charge-o-mat Pro, but as we all know they are just rebadged CTEK's, is it this one I need...?

Bizarrely, my car came without rear plinth and no holes.
As per my picture, my front plinth was fixed with 4 screws at each corner.

The Lithium XS is OOS everywhere now it's been discontinued, so I got the new replacment NXT 5 instead.
Helpfully (not!), the user manual in the app is useless for advising a connection point for the neg, so Jack a huge thanks for your pic above, it has saved me a whole heap of grief trying to work out where/how to attach the negative!

I use the eyelet ones as opposed to the crock clips. Then just feed the plug through the vents in the scuttle cover. Then can just plug it in and unplug it without having to remover the scuttle cover. Maybe I’m just lazy…
Glad you got it sorted Kevin!

My understanding was that it is fine to charge the battery directly on the terminals when connected to the car, but to jump start the car you're meant to use the positive battery mount but the negative jump point on the left hand side of the "engine bay".
Is that incorrect? Are you not meant to charge the battery directly when it is connected to the car?
I used to attach direct to battery using the threaded posts (need M6 nut to secure eyelet) Then made the mistake of reading forum waffle. There is a very very slim chance of spark near battery disaster and also some of the cars and batteries systems don’t like this configuration. So now always run earth lead to the earth ground post
… and I’d suggest the new type battery in the 992.2 GT3 is so tiny, it’s going to need permanent battery management. There’s a larger battery fitted to my push bike mag light !!
In the interest of allowing the car to coulomb count, I’d avoid direct battery connection of the negative/earth. Can’t say I’ve ever worried about sparks.
This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
