Reported cause
The problem was the enclosure did not fit right, it butted up against the air outlet.
Leading evidence: 'enclosure did not fit right' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'enclosure did not fit right' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). I put mine back together for now but I will be replacing the driver and lining the enclosure with either Raammat or Dynamat or something.

Wiring would be a breeze too needing a very short and easy run from the trunk.

I remember that Bose typically uses 2 ohm drivers.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I wanted it to work out so bad as I wanted a 10" but it just didn't work.
Hi All,
I am about to finish a long running custom audio project. I have 2 Focal 13ks Subs in my doors, i have 1 300w sub channel on my amp left open. Trying to figure out placement
Please post pics of you sub enclosures for your Cab. Please let note if it restricts proper function of the seats ect. ect.
Thanks
There was a thread earlier inquiring about the subwoofer enclosures in the Panamera and since I had some time to burn, I figured I'd explore and provide insight.
The enclosure is held in place by 4 torx screws (T25 I believe), and you'll need an extension to get at the two closest to the rear bumper.
After removing the screws, you'll have to be careful to unplug the wiring harness connected to the sub (its on the rear of the enclosure).
It turns out that the housing is a single reflex bandpass box made from plastic
The speaker is held in place by 6 other torx screws as well. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Decided I would remove the speaker and take some measurements for myself and others in the future, and what do we have here? A Chinese made driver:
Driver measured:
For those like me that will consider replacing the driver I measured the depth of the enclosure as well:
You have about a solid 4 inches should you desire.
I put mine back together for now but I will be replacing the driver and lining the enclosure with either Raammat or Dynamat or something.
Hope this was helpful.

I'm sure you could replace it with something better, I would recommend against the Bose as it would likely take as much if not more time and effort to retro fit it in.

Keep in mind, if you are keeping the stock amp, that changing out speakers isn't just finding one that fits the size requirement.
All speakers are different, even if they are the same size physically. Some speakers are more difficult to "drive" and will throw off the synergy with the rest of the system.
Some speakers will also be louder at the same wattage, again, leaving the system out of balance, and unfortunately the audio system does not allow for much adjustment to overcome these imbalances. Anyhow, let us know how it goes.
I GOT JL V3 10 INCH in custom fiberglass in rear seat area.I have it done by member here (werks1) and he did very reasonably priced.the fit is exelent and he is very helpfull guy.

I wish someone has done it with pics so I could get it done here in India.
Meanwhile bought the broken window master switch for 164$ had been using a superglue version since last so many months now hoping I can replace it without opening door panel.

Yes, it's a 8" sub handling all the low frequencies in my system. I had a local OC audio shop custom fabricate an enclosure and install it. If you're interested in I can give you the contact information of the shop just shoot me a PM. Since you're in the OC we can also meet up if you want to take a listen.

Agreed. I should also note that the OEM Bose subwoofer is rated at 200Watts, I'm going to assume that's peak and not RMS. In any case I don't believe we need to over think the replacement of a paper cone sub with one suitable for a similar enclosure and power rating. I do agree with you though.

There has to be a first...so why not you?
Go for it!

Haha I would love to but it's difficult here in India with high end cars. Music system would often have to be ordered from another country so techs here won't have much clue unless I give them Visual info.
It was difficult for me to get LED package installed... I posted pics in another thread.. Took whole day.
Abroad I believe it takes 2 hours
Thanks for the offer I'll take you up on it. Let me get my act together and I'll buzz you, it would help to hear it yes
I am planning on doing the work myself.

Two 8" shallow sub enclosures behind front seats. No interference seats when positioned all the way back. Barely sufficent bass (does not hit very low).
I came across another option, especially for cabs and situations where you need the rear space(kids, groceries, stuff, etc) on cabs.
http://cgi.ebay.com/PORSCHE-911-STEA...item4156de1280
Thinking this could be good if you're significant other isn't too tall. 10" sub accomodation with 0.65 internal space is quite a bit flexible and within the range of a lot of popular 10" subs out there like JL Audio. Wiring would be a breeze too needing a very short and easy run from the trunk.
I tried this option, in fact from the same seller. I had ordered it in gray but they sent me the enclosure in black. Not a big problem, I could have it recarpeted. The problem was the enclosure did not fit right, it butted up against the air outlet. I wanted it to work out so bad as I wanted a 10" but it just didn't work. The good thing is the seller did take the enclosure back and refunded my money. Perhaps it may work out for someone else but on my 03 C4 Cab it did not.

hi, i expect you found him already, but if you didn't, take a look at what rod at
car audio innovation
s does. he's done the stereo/subs in may last two 911s (a 993 cab and a 996 cab). he has a pretty sleek, low profile fiberglass box that fits in the rear footwell(s), doesn't hold 8s though. he wraps in porsche carpet etc so it all matches perfectly. he'll do the install, or just sell you the box, or sell you the box + subs etc etc. plus he's a great guy to deal with and has very reasonable prices.
- cheers, alan
edited: just checked his site again, and his enclosures now do fit the 8s, so check it out. they look pretty good too. maybe it's time for me to upgrade.....

I am trying to reach the screw for the airbag blend door and need to remove that center trim piece for the Bose subwoofer.
How do you remove that section in which the subwoofer is mounted?
( I am fixing the foam catastrophe from degraded foam in the airbag )
Any information would be helpful!
Pictures are in reverse order but you cut an 8" piece out of the BOSE passenger box. Use that plastic to then epoxy the box sealed. Line with dynamat and stuff with poly foam. Then get the needed clearance with 8" MDF ring and install your shallow mount dual coil sub. I'm running 5 channel amp where only the front sound-stage if powered and then the sub. (no rears) on PCCM+ head unit.
